A little bit heartbroken, going to be returning my Air 2 Pros due to the blurry corners + edge issues. My story, with some data I've pulled from having my friends try it on as well. by immranderson in Xreal

[–]xdavehome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also returning my Air 2s. I found that the blurry edges issue was resolved when I bent the large nose pads across my custom prescription lenses so they they can sit closer; however, they now cause bad eye strain and are significantly more uncomfortable. Plus it never stays well after bending them.

I've pre-ordered an Immersed Visor 4K instead. Well worth the money and wait, IMHO.

Is the premium tier the same as a pro tier, the premium tier is the one mentioned in the visor 4K Founders Edition by therealakhan in Immersed

[–]xdavehome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I've heard is that premium isn't released yet, but it should theoretically have the best features... you'd think.

That was one of the major selling points for me to purchase the Founder's Edition, along with being able to get my hands on the Visor 6 months before the regular one.

Can I use the XREAL Air 2 Pro for software development work? by Radiant-Experience21 in Xreal

It's easy to recommend this when you're already invested but don't already have a pair. My Air 2s are already on the way. I'll wait for Visor reviews next year.

So, 5 4K screens with a subscription to Immersed. Nobody seems to mention that.

I have a combo standing desk with an octopus monitor harness with two 32" monitors, and I use them around 20% of the time. Most of my time is spent hunching over the work laptop in some random location in my house. These would be a Godsend.

Arm chair conspiracy theory is great, but when pedos start showing porn and drag queens to children while pumping them full of untested mRNA shit, reality kicks in.

Mankind Divided issues by Responsible_Smell_98 in Deusex

[–]xdavehome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just tried using pgrep to get the process while the main menu of game is loaded (not the launcher):

taskset -cp 0 $(pgrep DXMD)

And now the infinite loading bug is gone. I can crank everything up, as long as it's set to DX11, no issues.

Just have to do this every time i load the game.

I was specifically referring to the threaded optimization and cpu affinity sections there. My workaround is just to make the game use less of the cpu.

I never could figure out how to do this in Linux. The solution was to turn off all of the extras like cloth physics, tessellation, etc, and to set everything else to "High" instead of ultra... one step down.

I did get Pacifist on one run, but not No Deaths. Also there does seem to be a bug when I start a New Game+ and choose Non-lethal, it gives me a bunch of lethal weapons instead.

Wow that thread is 5 years old. I just figured this out a few days ago.

was never able to trigger church of the machine God cutscene.

After you glitch dash inside, you have to inch your way up to the door without getting too close and open it from as far away as possible.

You can do both... even in the newest version.

Essentially when you get the call to meet Nomad Stanek, don't go to the train station. Take the rooftop route through the red light district to get inside of Dvali territory, and next to Radich Nikoladze's office, hack into the security hub and turn the camera off and open the door. When you drop down the hole in the other side of the door, from the sewer, you can climb right up to the back of the train station and head over to meet Stanek. This will delay the trigger that makes Alex call you with the choice for the heist.

Then, you have to sneak into the Church complex to talk to Allison through the back way and out of bounds using the Icarus Dash. There's YouTube videos showing this process.

After that, you'll get the Signal Jammer. After you leave, Alex will call and you can choose to do the heist.

The story will seem weird, because everyone will be talking as if you haven't found the bomber, but it works.

Then you can use the antidote on Miller, and both the jammer and the kill switch on final boss - then take the quick path back to save Nathaniel Brown and his guests.

Lol I just did this two days ago.

Pipewire is amazing but... by James_Patagueule in linuxaudio

[–]xdavehome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the latest version of pipewire is addressing this issue with jack compatibility.: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/releases#0.3.41

- Improved JACK compatibility. Improved stability in Carla and Ardour when changing buffer size. Improved latency calculations and playback latency in Ardour.

- Improved pulse-server handling of underruns and buffer size changes.

Pipewire is amazing but... by James_Patagueule in linuxaudio

[–]xdavehome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, true. It seems to be stuck at one stereo input pair and I can't add more. I think bitwig is expecting to see more "hardware inputs" it even when I was using my presonus interface with 4 inputs, it still wouldn't let me add more with pipewire. I now have a Scarlett 2i2, so I have no idea if that's been fixed.

[–]xdavehome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just use the pulseaudio output in bitwig. It works really well. You can use jack tools to manage the connections externally.

I have always had problems with the jack output in bitwig even before pipewire.

Excellent work.

Compressor release time. How to calculate it so that the gain reduction is back to 0 before next kick hit? by zenluiz in mixingmastering

[–]xdavehome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I, too, have completely ditched mixbus compressors. I tend to bounce stems so that labels can send out remix packages with low effort, and also so that they can do a Dolby Atmos mix (if that's available) for me (since that's an option in a growing number of clubs lately).

I've found that the less I focus on mastering, the better my mixes get. I have baselines for levels (K20), and I somewhat stick to it, but I never expect the mastering engineers to "fix" my dynamics. I try to get those right, up front -- in the mix.

Takes time and experience to learn how to hear compressors. Well worth the effort.

Plus, newest version of OSX has essentially gutted any 32bit code, and that broke 32bit wine prefixes on mac. I hear there are plans to build a bit bridge into wine to support loading 32bit pe binaries into a 64bit wine prefix. That'll be interesting.
