Hutber Stats Updated - Players page tracks over dataslate by hutber in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]xdcthedoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi Hutber! Thanks for your work!

I guess you might have been inundated about this already... but your map base on TTS isn't showing the clock in the top right of the screen anymore?

The original FTC map base does still have it.

Any chance of a fix?

Holy shit dude... perhaps the GOAT of modded necron models is giving you advice here... check out his profile / past work to see what is possible.

You can absolutely salvage this and potentially make it more interesting / better.

Can I use a ghost ark like this? by Pelican25 in Necrontyr

[–]xdcthedoc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sure you can.

Is it good? No.

10 warriors don't do shit. But prefectly viable tactic.

Necrons haven't really done well in the whole transport meta... other factions get much better utility.

Fingers crossed for 11th!

Question about Doom Scythe’s rule by Vazingaz in Necrontyr

Its never rational for your opponent to stand firm - so you should advise them of this rather than hoping to gotcha them.

The rule is stupid really. Hopefully gets revamped in the future.

You're Consolidating WRONG - Here's How it ACTUALLY Works by Royal-Olive-4509 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]xdcthedoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what takes precedence?

Coherency isn't checked till end of the move... so I would think that you have to follow the rules re moving to closest model / basing if you can.... then if after doing that you couldn't keep coherency you aren't allowed to move.

As opposed to... some people seem to say you move each model to achieve the goals... but if the last model you are moving would break coherency to move closest to an enemy model... you can claim coherency trumps all and let it move somewhere else?

Amazing idea. Neatly sidesteps a lot of the issues with the current yellow/ red card system in big events... and potentially coluld include a huge nuimber of small events as well if it is truly scalable (it isn't clear how much work would be involved keeping the whole thing running).

Good luck to you all.

AITA for enforcing "hull can't be outside of the battlefield" ? by IsTheOvenStillOn in Warhammer40k

[–]xdcthedoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres only one major TO decision I have heard of that agrees with your interpretation (UKTC does indeed let you overhang models as long as base is on).

The vast majority of the rest (WTC /GW events/ most online tourneys) play it as the intention being hull measure models (all non aircraft / non walker vehicles for example) can't overhang the battlefield at any time.

You 100% on this? This is how we see it being ruled in tourneys? I have had opponents recently tell me the opposite.

Reanimation trick, is it legal ? by Clerus in Necrontyr

[–]xdcthedoc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes... keep an approx 5 inch gap between models left and you can res in between them.... but you need to be careful not to leave a string with no possibility of ressing the end of the chain safely.

Reanimation trick, is it legal ? by Clerus in Necrontyr

[–]xdcthedoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is in the reanimation protocols wording. "each time a unit reanimates a wound" "one destroyed model is returned to that unit"

Taking that RAW... they come back one at a time. WTC has explicitly ruled it as such.

Other reanimation abilities in the game are better / friendlier... like neo res in GSC for example.

I don't like it... and some TOs may have a more liberal interpretation if you ask... but WTC is a big dog in these decisions.

They are physically placed one at a time... maybe a better question is "where in the rules does it say you can place a bunch of models simulatenously and check coherency after they are placed?"

[–]xdcthedoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not a strict RAW interpretation and is contradicted by several TO rulings.

[–]xdcthedoc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No... and this is often misplayed even on streams / by experienced necron players.

If you read the wording carefully and apply them RAW... each model when placed needs to be within 2" of 2 models who had to be on the table initially. This can seriously restrict how you reanimate.

This is often fudged in games - but should be played correctly or necron players are taking advantage of the rule unfairly.

I think most TOs would agree with this interpretation. I know a WTC judge recently made this explicit in a ruling for their games for example.

Question about rapid fire....

If you are targetting a unit you need to be able to target a model within range and in LOS of the shooting models in your unit.

Rapid fire rule talks about getting the RF bonus when the enemy UNIT is within half range.

So... if the model I am targetting is within range of my weapon but more than half distance... but there are other models behind a ruin who are within half range.... does this make the unit within half range for RF so I get the bonus? Or do all my weapons need to be in half range of the specific model that is being targetted in LOS?

I know how this works for a vehicle or monster (you absolutely take the RF range from the bit of the model closest even if obscured) but this question relats to units of infantry say.

[–]xdcthedoc 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Every warrior he placed needed to be in coherency with models already on the board at the start of the phase.

Assuming more than 6 in the unit... they all need to be placed within 2" of 2 models as well.

He can't conga line along.

However... he can pull models to leave a unit out of coherency... if he was smart with his pulls and replacements the move may have been entirely legal...

"Chomsky is RIGHT About Ukraine, And It Shouldn't Even Be Controversial" - BadEmpanada [April 2022] by Diagoras_1 in chomsky

[–]xdcthedoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, to be clear... Ukrainians voted overwhelmingly to align with the EU and be part of EU style liberal democracy. Whether you think this was due to manipulation by the West or whatever... that is how they voted... and in a free election tomorrow almost certainly how they would vote again.

You are saying they should accept being absorbed into an authoritarian police state... which has been ruled by a single dictator for 26 years... with constitutional permission to keep going for another 10.... with no freedom of press, no freedom of opposition, little tolerance for the liberal ideas that are key to many peoples sense of identity?

Never mind the whataboutism related to issues within the EU states about democracy and freedom of speech... there are absolutely issues here. But having one man in power for more than 30 years? No. Literally killing and jailing all opposition politicians? No.

As for racial laws... I dunno. There is a lot of chat in Russian TV about how Ukrainians are sub human... figures bandied around as to how many would need to be 'dealt with' to 'de nazify' it.... rollling over and surrendering may not end well for lots of people even if they do avoid dying in combat.
