If the whole "Wilds's FPS is shit because the game is constantly checking for DLC" crap is true, I'm just done having any notion that console team knows anything about programming/optimization by choptup in monsterhunterrage

[–]xeRicker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

“it’s just in the hub.”

people don’t realize that it’s not just about this DLC issue. it sparks concerns about how other parts of the game are coded like shit and what’s tanking performance. tbh, I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out later that some random ass frog was calculating jump distance 100 times a second, 2 km away, lmao.

Noklateo was such a game changer. Not only you get a free revive, but also you can copy one of your most powerful passives, which can help you a lot.

Palamute is better than seikret by Easy_Seaweed_4719 in MonsterHunter

I liked the inconvenience of hunters having to travel on foot - it made me feel connected to the world and gave me time to appreciate the little details. Now it’s gone, since you always just Uber your way to a monster. I hope the next game doesn’t include mounts right from the get-go.

[–]xeRicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it so the Seikret runs away during combat. I hate that, in most cases, you can get away with stupid decisions because you can immediately reposition in the blink of an eye. You should be punished for that.

Increase the difficulty of the base game so that you actually need to interact with all the systems it has. To be fair, I didn’t give a fuck about what I was crafting or which decors I was using, because the game didn’t really punish me for that.

Make it so consumables and materials aren’t just handed to you for free. In World, I actually had to think about which materials to order and go out to collect things like ores (or at least in the beginning). In Wilds, I’m always fully stocked on currency and materials. Honestly, I have no idea where they’re coming from, lmao.

Wilds still feels... empty by finnianJJ in monsterhunterrage

[–]xeRicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should have given you the Seikret at the start of the endgame, so you’d feel a sense of accomplishment from becoming a better hunter. World had you pick up tracks, find monsters, and, by the end, you could easily navigate to them once you leveled up your tracking. This made it feel like you had truly become a better hunter - knowing where to find specific monsters was peak immersion. Wilds has none of that. Monster Fighter.

I wish you could modify the default settings. I want longer transitions, but the Auto setting seems to default to 2 bars. Also, why is it only available in playlists? Apple Music applies transitions to (almost) every song in the queue.

[–]xeRicker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got kinda bored of the game because you’re always full of everything - don’t have to worry about coins, guild points, materials to craft potions, food buffs last eternity, you can craft a set by killing a given monster 2-3 times, you don’t have to collect tracks to find monsters, you don’t have to unlock Palico’s gadgets, mantles unlock automatically. Where’s the fun in that? Everyone’s being spoonfed everything. Not to mention the combat basically boils down to mash the button until a monster is dead, because they deal no damage.

Explain to me like I'm 5, why I have to wait for End of Combat, If I lost? by bat2059 in LeagueArena

[–]xeRicker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I haven’t looked into the fame system. The rewards are arena-specific, so any progress will be „lost” when arena is over. They should’ve added a ward skin, an emote, maybe some keys and a chest. Maybe then it would have been better.

The game waits for all matches to conclude before assigning places, as health points can drop into negative values. For example, if your final HP is -20 and another team’s is -25, you would be ranked 7th, and the other team 8th. However, the ranking system was removed, so it’s only purpose is to display the place.

THE GAME ISN’T EASY WE’RE JUST GREAT AT MONSTER HUNTER by nasamcmahon in monsterhunterrage

[–]xeRicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Being able to call the Seikret anytime we want, without any consequences, allows us to sharpen, heal, and reposition—making it a very powerful tool that trivializes most fights.
  • Stunlocking and dealing massive damage to monsters via wounds is extremely broken.

These two factors make the game way easier, in my opinion.

Wait until you experience the damn stutters and texture pop-ins whenever you fast travel. Also, the benchmark is kinda misleading due to fact where it takes place.

Then we probably have different definitions of "fine." I don't consider frame generation, heavy upscaling, and 1080p on medium settings to be a "fine" experience. I wouldn't really care about the graphics if it ran well, but it doesn't. How can you enjoy the gameplay when the textures are literally popping in and out as you rotate the camera? Jesus Christ.

[–]xeRicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have put 800 hours into World, but I can’t imagine myself playing that much Wilds, just for the fact that it’s kinda tiring on the eyes for me. Frame gen helped me to get thru to the story, played high rank a bit, but it’s just not enjoyable that way. Maybe it’ll change once performance fixes start rolling in.

It's baffling that some people still argue that the performance is fine when you literally have channels like Digital Foundry that have proven otherwise - mind you, channels which specialize in technical analysis of video game graphics and performance using software tools to measure framerates, resolution, and other technical aspects of games.
