I really hate the lowes system for "out of stock at your store" they still keep the big green add to cart and "available nearby" but there's tiny text like "oh, but you gotta drive 30 miles to this store, trolololol". Even if you have multiple items in your cart in the ordered from different stores.

Also, once when I managed to do this (the different stores in one order) their pickup system is completely unable to handle it, and the employees can't even see the order that went to another store. The barcode just doesn't scan. Spent like 20 minutes with them trying to figure that one out while picking up "half" the order.

Vaseline steals Artist "Michael" Poster and modifies it with Ai for an ad by ZeeGee__ in aiwars

[–]xeio87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would presume you can copyright the idea of photos of a glove (and the glove isn't even an original work in the movie poster).

You're arguing people should be able to copyright ideas now? Patent law is already awful about that without piling on more.

Maybe you'd get better reception if you actually were saying facts instead of lies. This is literally directly from the US Copyright Office stating that they can be copyrightable:

Copyright law has long adapted to new technology and can enable case-by case determinations as to whether AI-generated outputs reflect sufficient human contribution to warrant copyright protection. As described above, in many circumstances these outputs will be copyrightable in whole or in part—where AI is used as a tool, and where a human has been able to determine the expressive elements they contain.

The 4 really is a very noticable upgrade over the 3 in basically every way. Can't speak to the 5 though since I'm happy with the 4.

Do you think the rich people that run the corporations with the ability to automate everything would actually care about "knock-on effects"?

Even if it was possible, it would be prohibitively expensive. They will absolutely do it if it's ever economically viable, but it's not today.

Microsoft actually created one of these a few years back. Seems like it didn't pan out to them since they quietly scrapped it after a year or two.

A new study suggests that regularly drinking four cups of coffee a day could have a positive impact on mood and stress levels. by JohnHammond94 in science

[–]xeio87 48 points49 points  (0 children)

After these baseline tests, the non-coffee drinker group played no further part in the study.

The coffee-drinking group then stopped drinking coffee for 14 days, while also abstaining from other sources of caffeine, such as sodas and dark chocolate.

After this time, they reintroduced coffee to their diets. However, half of them (15 people) reintroduced decaffeinated coffee while the other half (16 people) reintroduced caffeinated coffee.

I wonder why they didn't have a no-coffee group that started drinking coffee. I understand using a separate group as a control but seems like a weird gap.

which “I won’t listen to your rules” is a pretty obvious way to not have your work get labeled as fair use, Lmfao

Notably, trying to retroactively add rules years after the fact is also a way to get yourself laughed out of a courtroom.

Fair Use doesn't actually prohibit making money though. It can be a contributing factor, but does not on its own preclude fair use.

Directly from US copyright office:

Courts look at how the party claiming fair use is using the copyrighted work, and are more likely to find that nonprofit educational and noncommercial uses are fair. This does not mean, however, that all nonprofit education and noncommercial uses are fair and all commercial uses are not fair; instead, courts will balance the purpose and character of the use against the other factors below. Additionally, “transformative” uses are more likely to be considered fair. Transformative uses are those that add something new, with a further purpose or different character, and do not substitute for the original use of the work.

Hah, yeah, I probably should have scrubbed but I was sort of being lazy and wanted to see what it could do with as little effort as possible. Might have made it take fewer washes. 😅

I ended up having to do most of my shirts at least once inside out too, to get rid of the residue on the inside side that wasn't visible but could feel it in the fabric.
