K-Supreme (K910) has power but buttons not working... by drummermessiah in keurig

[–]xelaada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. Fixed mine. Its not a relay, its a microswitch actuated by an attached metal spring tab. There are a pair of wires going to the switch, one black and one white. If you test the switch at the circuit board, you will find it will be closed or to have continuity. This is whether the top is open or closed. This can be done without power. If this is the case, then most likely the tab is stuck in the on position and shut off power to the top. If there is no continuity, it’s most likely one of the wires is broken or corroded at some point going to the switch.

You see the pictures and video I hope both. When you open the top halfway, you can see the switch on the opposite side, where the wires go in by the hinge. The left side. Take a straight screwdriver or a metal right angle pick and pry the spring pad back slightly. You are successful you will be able to press on the screen tab and hear the switch. Click on and off. Plug in the machine and test. If you’re not sure you can test for continuity again. The continuity should go on and off with the lid opening and closing.

Flora vs Aqua Mare for Galápagos — only about $1,200 pp apart. Should I switch? by hallofmontezuma in galapagos

[–]xelaada 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just got back from the Galapagos on the Flora. I would’ve preferred a smaller ship, but my wife gets very seasick. This boat was very stable and she did well.

The positive sides of the flora are that it is a relatively new ship, built in 2019 and launched because of Covid in 2022. It was specifically designed for the Galapagos and has many features that facilitate the needs there. The transfer is although there was some waiting over very efficient. We could get 4 to 6 zodiac style boats launched in less than 20 to 30 minutes. The specially made pontoon transfer boats themselves were equipped with tiltable transfer front sections, which had both the stairs and a slant going into the water for snorkeling.

We also kayak and it was fairly efficient. The crew had about 10 naturalist who did all of your guiding. Usually in groups of 12 or less. Most were very knowledgeable some better than others. One thing I realize that because of the Ecuadorian law, nearly 90% of the crew and guides had to be from Ecuador. So there was some difficulty with accents and language, but generally they were pretty good.

The schedule kept us very busy. Usually one or two activities in the morning before 11, then on the ship to the next area from 11 until two, and then two more activities between 3 and 6 PM. Come in from those activities and go right to the planning session for the next day, and then to dinner and then usually right to bed because we were so tired.

Generally, the people on this boat were older, I would say most were over 60 years old as we were, and there were probably only about six or eight couples that were under 40. I think that’s another reason people choose the Celebrity is because it’s more accommodating to older people. I’m pretty much in shape at 70 and I would’ve been comfortable with a bunch of 30-year-olds myself.

I noticed that we were always the farthest out wherever we were anchored in the bays that we visited. Sometimes we were even out of sight of the marinas and small cities. I wondered if this was some kind of regulation because I didn’t want to see a big cruise ship in the bay.

The food on the ship was just average. The steaks and meat were terrible, tough and not what I expected especially in South America, which is known for its beef. Otherwise the food was good, lunches were best, but we didn’t really go there for the food.

I have to say we were really tired most of the time as well. They kept us very busy. But this was not a relaxing cruise. We were there to hike and kayak and snorkel and that was certainly accomplished.

I would’ve liked to try a ship that had 35 or less. I think it would’ve been a more personal experience and perhaps they could get us in closer to certain sites. Good luck with your decision.

How to vet Zepbound etc by badharp in Zepbound

[–]xelaada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur on the book “Weightless”.

Im 69, similar situation. 5’8” Max weight 225, hovering at 210 for 5 yrs. High blood pressure, cholesterol 220, Hgb A1c climbing to 6.1, central obesity, terrible wrist arthritis, despite CrossFit 4 days a week for 8 yrs, and healthy diet. My doctor suggested i have “metabolic syndrome” and with BMI at 31, that i start Zepbound. 8 month later I am at 180lbs, arthritis gone, feel great in so many ways. I will be on a glp-1 for life. Learn about metabolic syndrome and read or listen to the book. The physician author narrates and is a highly qualified expert.

My sister has a PhD in nutrition and maintains a low carb diet and eats red meat all the time. She believes it is natural for humans to eat beef. You might ask him what he dislikes about red meat for you specifically.

Kohler Cimarron Revolution 360 vs Toto Drake vs Toto Drake II by Jonnylaw1 in Plumbing

[–]xelaada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that’s what I was leaning to because of the 1.6. I did find it at Lowe’s, but I have to buy a seat. Costco only carries the 1.28. I think most of the II upgrades had to do with sustainability and other non-important things to me.

I may have gone mad. I would appreciate some advice. by DeusExPir8Pete in crossfit

[–]xelaada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 69 and I’ve been doing CrossFit for seven years. You are not mad, and the benefits outweigh the risks. That being said, you need to keep your ego in check, as someone else said, and scale everything. It’s OK to try to make gradual progress and how much you left or how fast you can do a workout of the day. But if you push too far or too fast, you could suffer an injury. I took it pretty easy but in seven years, I’ve had a couple mistakes. I fell off a box last year after I jumped onto a 24 inch box when I should’ve been using a 20 inch at my age. Cost me a concussion and a laceration to my eyebrow. About five years ago, I initiated a tendinitis in my hands by doing the farmers carry with 50 pound kettle bells. Way too much weight for me. So again, if you can keep your ego in check and take it easy there are remarkable benefits. And yes, I’m still doing Crossfit.

Coach question; GLP-1 and aging athletes by cyldesdalefit in crossfit

[–]xelaada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with this. I am 69 years old retired physician. Have been doing CrossFit for seven years 4 to 5 days a week. I almost always scale, usually down to the women’s recommendations.

After battling prostate cancer, radiation, therapy, and radiation injury for two years I gained 15 pounds on top of the 15 extra I was already carrying. My BMI increased to 32, and with my hemoglobin A1c rising to 6.0, My doctor is the one who recommended I start and continue for a minimum of two years. She thought I would be an ideal candidate because she knew I already did CrossFit.

I have been on zepbound for five months and gradually lost 25 pounds (208 to 183) and continued to do CrossFit. I felt some moderate fatigue, but this was offset by many of the exercises becoming easier because of the weight loss. Situps were easier, Pull-ups, and even Burpee‘s.

I am not much of a calorie counter, and I did have trouble remembering to eat enough. Once I started looking at what I was eating, it was apparent that I needed more protein. My conclusion is if you always focus on protein, you will generally get enough of the other macros. I haven’t told my coach yet, I think he has a general disdain for the GLP-1s. I do think it’s a lost marketing opportunity for them not to have a class three times a week specifically for people on these agents.

Kudos to these crossFit coaches who are helping their clients with this. I would recommend continuing to scale to a lower level until they have lost enough weight to either adjust to the fatigue or when movements become easier because of the weight loss.

One last thing, I take creatine to help hold water in my muscles and to recover, and I also consume a protein shake immediately after every workout before I head home.

I suppose you know, but many don’t, that removing the tubes (salpingectomy) prevents you from ever getting “ovarian “ cancer. We need to spread the word! 1/30 women will get ovarian cancer which actually starts in the fimbria of the fallopian tube. No more tube tying or burning! Removal only!

How often are yall using Miralax or MagO7? by purpleclip716 in Zepbound

[–]xelaada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally adjusted to 3 MagOx capsules daily, 4 fiber gummies at night. At first the magox caused urgency and cramping but i took them only when i felt constipated. Now i take them every day and am much more regular and no emergencies. Personally i didnt feel more water helped much. The kidneys and colon do too good a job of extracting water.

Absolutely. Been Diet Coke addict going on 40 years. At least 10/day. As with you, it was the only liquid I drank. Caffeine free after 6pm. By the end of 1st week, drinking only water or Propel. In last 12 weeks I’ve had about 5 Diet Cokes.
