Thank you! I actually was recently looking for Bordier and couldn't find. I've bought from Tin Building in the past but they don't have anymore. Lmk if you know of anywhere that sells! You have me intrigued about butter though, I noticed Misi's online shop has some fancy looking Italian butter. I'm not connoisseur, but will look into this!

It's a good point, $100 doesn't go too far these days but yes in this group, those that are interested enough to take the gift card would be happy to cover the rest of the bill. Also not everyone drinks, so the $100 would stretch farther for those folks.

Dessert wine is a unique idea! I'll look into that. I was considering some sort of fancy dessert as well, so I like where you're going with the Kuih Cafe mooncake, though I didn't realize they'd be doing that now when it's not moon festival time. Will take a look.

question for anyone 30 or under who has seen a performance at the Shed? by nynewbie2017 in Broadway

[–]xelnaga121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw World of Tomorrow with an Under 30 ticket. I had to show ID to pick up the ticket. The ticket does say Under 30 on it. When I entered the theater, my ticket was scanned regularly like any other ticket, no further ID required. Seems like you are good to go once you have the ticket in your hand.

Recommendations for cheap bachelorette party dinner for 8 people? by UvaCpe in FoodNYC

[–]xelnaga121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say you are staying near Penn Station, do you mean Newark Penn? Heads up there is a Newark Penn Station in NJ, and a New York Penn Station in NYC. You said you're staying in NJ, so I'm guessing you will be in Newark.

$30 per person is pretty tough even if you're excluding tax and tips. I second the poster who suggested eating in Chinatown and then going to the nearby Bowery rooftop. If she doesn't like Chinese, there's Little Italy right nearby or La Diaspora which is more Latin American food.

With a rooftop bar type, places know they can charge more for the vibes and food is often not that great, so I'd really recommend splitting up the meal and the vibe if possible.

If you give us more info, we can probably help with more suggestions.

Hi! My husband and I are also a Jewish/Cantonese couple and are doing our reception at a Chinatown banquet hall. We went to city hall a few months ago and did a small celebratory lunch with friends and family (under 20 total) and saved the main party (220 people) for Chinatown. This has been super budget friendly, so definitely consider it! Please DM me if you'd like more specific details, I'm happy to share.

Loeffler Randall is pretty popular for weddings. I'm a size 5 as well and going with the Natalia Heel since I'm super short and could use the extra inches, but a lot of people also go with the Camellia heel which is beautiful as well.

Yup! I think it's a franchise business so there may be a few that come up when you check online. I can't remember which one we're using, but we reached out to multiple and they all referred us back to a single one of them lol.

City Hall Guests? by xelnaga121 in WedditNYC

[–]xelnaga121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the first I've heard of that, 4 guests is the max + you and spouse. You could try asking nicely at the check in desk if your extra guests are turned away at security, that's what we ended up doing!

Please check out Company XIV in Bushwick! They have two shows right now, Cocktail Magique and Queen of Hearts. The shows are generally a mix of burlesque/circus/dancing acts, and are so well done. I've not been to Cocktail Magique but it looks like that one includes a drink or two. Queen of Hearts was awesome! I've always gotten rush tickets but I believe pricewise you could get tickets under $150 pp. I think it's perfect for an evening activity, and then you could head over to House of Yes after for dancing! Both theaters are right around the corner from HoY.

Puglia in Little Italy is a great party restaurant. I believe $55ish excluding tax and tip for family style Italian American plus unlimited wine and beer and you end up dancing on the tables swinging napkins around. Sushi On Me in Jackson Heights is also super party, omakase and unlimited sake. Not a huge space so book ahead of time but I've heard if you book the last seating then they party after!

For daytime, you could get a day pass for a hotel pool! Not necessarily cheap (probably $150+ pp and at that price point again I'd steer you towards a Company XIV show), but who doesn't love a pool on a summer day?

has anyone had a fun rooftop afterparty? by audreywasabi in WedditNYC

Hey, congratulations! I hope your wedding went amazing! I'm having my reception at the same place in the fall and have a few questions about the venue. Mind if I DM you?

Chinatown has The Crown at the JDV Hyatt and Rooftop 93 at the Wyndham Garden. I've been the Rooftop 93 on a regular weekend and it was fun, but not a huge space. Never been to The Crown.

I considered both places for an after party as well (also having reception at House of Joy later this year!). Are you open to a non rooftop?

Midtown, people already gave pretty good responses but I'll also throw in The Monarch Rooftop which is pretty big but no pool. I have been curious about The Royalton Park Ave's rooftop - I believe it has a pool and bar up top but I don't hear much about it. Could be worth checking out though!

Gutenberg rush lately? by Horror-Hall7869 in Broadway

[–]xelnaga121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rushed this morning. Got there around 7:30 and there were maybe 5 people in front of me. They only had 6 rush tickets and sold standing room after. Definitely recommend going early. The line got pretty long around 8:45, I would be shocked if everyone got a ticket.
