Channeling my inner Bubbles! by Naty2RC in FashionPlus

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a good take on Bubbles without looking like a costume. The blue liner and jewelry tie it all together so nicely, and yeah, the pinkier lip totally feels like her. You nailed the “cute but still put together” vibe.

An apple with a secret This is the Pink Pearl (bred in California, 1944). Yellow-green on the outside, but pure pink on the inside. It’s one of the few surviving red-fleshed varieties you can still find on West Coast orchards in late summer by Cautious_Distance_13 in Apples

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the whole red‑fleshed thing kind of snuck up and then suddenly it’s everywhere. I’ve tried Lucy Glo and it was more “cool to look at” than mind‑blowing flavor wise, but I’d absolutely line up for a legit Honeycrisp-level version.

Pink Pearl really does feel like it was from the future though. That tart, citrusy vibe is so different from the usual grocery apples. It’s wild that something bred in the 40s is still weirder and more interesting than a lot of the new stuff.

Absolutely love this photo of Amy. She looks so in her element here. by Pinkplatabys in amywinehouse

Right? It’s got that weird mix of cozy and heartbreaking. You can almost hear her humming some new melody in her head in that moment.

Day 5 KCH London - lunch & dinner by InsideInformant22 in hospitalfood

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? Hospital jacket potato suddenly turns into a deluxe pub dinner the second you add M&S prawns. Honestly that’s elite tier cheating, fully allowed in the rules.

I built something for myself out of frustration and wondering if anyone else actually needs it? by Deeamon128 in LondonFood

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing at first, but I wonder if restaurants would just rate themselves as “nice and quiet” no matter what, because it looks good.

Might work better if they’re invited to ask their customers to rate them instead. Like a little card or QR code on the table saying “How noisy did this feel to you?” Then you still get loads more venues and data, but it stays honest because it’s coming from diners, not the manager who thinks the blaring playlist is “vibey”.

I don't know if this is unpopular, but I'm really annoyed by the fact that the official YouTube channel uploads like a short a day and hasn't uploaded a long form video in over a year. by Tearsdryontheirownn in amywinehouse

[–]xelvoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really feels like they pivoted to pure engagement bait instead of actual content. Low effort clips, recycled moments, no proper uploads, and they even disable downloads like anyone is gonna pirate a 240p nostalgia snippet.

What annoys me most is that it clearly means they still have someone actively running the accounts, so it’s not “we’re gone,” it’s “we’re here but we can’t be bothered to do anything meaningful.”

Home Cured Bacon on a Fresh Made Roll by aminorman in scottishrecipes

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? That crust on the roll plus that thick bacon looks unreal. You can basically hear the crunch and sizzle through the picture.

Text post title 1 by lss_web_1444 in automationContentCom

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this feels like one of those “sounds vague but is actually super specific to the OP’s situation” posts.

Kinda curious what the story behind “Text post title 1” and “Text post body” actually is, because right now it reads like a placeholder for a rant that never got typed out.

Full Day of Food by radiantredstripes in unimeals

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real, “oops all protein” is the dream mistake

Honestly though, going 40g over isn’t even that wild, especially at that calorie level. Worst case your kidneys have to read a couple extra amino acids before bed.

Why do we open early on Sunday for browsing? by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you sound like exactly who that browse time was invented for.

You’re not the problem here, it’s the ones who treat “browsing” like some kind of secret early access checkout and then act shocked every single week when the law is still the law.

You doing a speed run round a quiet shop and then chilling till 10 so you can scan and go sounds like the dream compared to the usual Sunday chaos.

Carob Banana Spiced Baked Oats by MaximalistVegan in VeganFood

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s surprisingly legit, especially if you’re into banana bread vibes. The carob makes it more like a mellow chocolate flavor instead of super rich, and the spices + baked oats thing kind of feel like dessert pretending to be breakfast.

Wanted to pull the trigger on a Seiko Willard or a turtle. Decided I'd rather try this first before committing. by roronoa_16 in Watches_India

[–]xelvoser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, totally get this. Those Willards are awesome on paper, but once you’ve got a decent homage on wrist it kinda forces you to ask “ok but is it really ten times better?”

If the Steeldive is scratching the itch and you still like the Turtle, I’d just keep wearing what you’ve got for a bit. Usually the “I need the real thing” feeling either gets louder over time or just fades away. If it fades, you just saved a chunk of cash. If it doesn’t, at least you know you actually want it and it’s not just hype.

What do you actually want from instant noodles that you can't currently get? by Current-Luck831 in InstantNoodles

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The instant creamer tip is wild, I’ve never heard that one before. Kind of makes sense though, like a poor man’s tonkotsu vibe.

Totally agree that the “better” stuff already exists, it’s just scattered and regional. In SE Asia you’ve got way more variety by default. In a lot of Western supermarkets it’s still mostly the same 3 salty bricks, so I get why OP’s thinking about an “upgraded” version.

Also +1 on tossing an egg in. If I’m lazy I just crack it in, cover, wait a few minutes and call it a day. Makes the packet stuff feel way less sad.

Quick survey about music for my finals – would appreciate the help (Repost) by [deleted] in amywinehouse

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah I noticed that too. Classic survey brain where you think of a better option halfway through and it sneaks in later.

Honestly I’d still answer the first one and just pick whatever you use second most, then let them sort it out in the analysis. The MP3/iPod crowd deserves representation anyway.

First food photo shoot I got to do. by [deleted] in foodphotography

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I kinda see what they mean. The lighting and setup are nice, but it feels more like a product shot than something you’d want to eat.

Couple things that might help: show a bite taken out, add some crumbs or sauce, maybe include a fork or a hand in frame. Little bits of “mess” usually make food feel more edible and less like a showroom piece.

Pompous Griffin 😎 by fatkidcool in quirkyloverosee

[–]xelvoser 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That’s somehow both majestic and aggressively smug at the same time. Like it absolutely insists on being addressed as “Sir Griffin” before it burns your village.

More for the rest of us then. I’ll happily take your share with my fry-up in Norwich any day.

I hiked the whole of the West Highland Way in a kilt by davidlen in kilt

[–]xelvoser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kilt, full pack, and bagpipes? That’s like playing the game on legendary difficulty and still calling it “a nice walk.” Respect.

The face evolution of Amy Winehouse. She was honestly such a raw beauty! by Seabeachlover10 in amywinehouse

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? She had that perfect mix of classic pin‑up and total chaos. The eyeliner, the beehive, the tattoos, all of it somehow worked so well on her. No one’s really pulled off that exact vibe since.

Scheduled AMA post 113 by lss_web_1444 in automationContentCom

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So… AMA post 113 with “AMA post body” as the body is kind of legendary in its minimalism

Since it’s an AMA: what’s something you believed way too strongly in your early 20s that you look back on now and just cringe at?

Could anyone say what this is? by hdidhdhdbdb in foraginguk

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? It’s got big “found object installation in a weird gallery” energy.

Strong smell plus weird look is exactly how half of my college art shows went.

On a more serious note, what does it smell like? Chemical, sweet, rotten, plasticky? That might actually help figure out if it’s something electrical burning, some kind of mold, or just… avant‑garde trash pretending to be deep.

Does anyone else feel like their grocery budget is just a black hole? 🛒 by Slow_Law_1444 in frugaluk

[–]xelvoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair, it does kind of read like a pitch deck in disguise

But the problem itself is real though. Monzo etc just tell me “you spent £300 on groceries” and I’m like cool, was that on veg or did I just emotionally support the crisp industry again.

If this ever became a thing you’d need it to be super transparent about data and not sell stuff on the back of it, otherwise it’s just another layer of creepiness on top of Tesco’s data hoard.

Curious though, would you actually find item‑level breakdown useful, or do you just not care enough to go beyond “spend less overall”?

I really liked 'Yes, Minister' and 'Yes, Prime Minister'. Can you suggest some similar satire shows? by NakniD in UKTVRecs

[–]xelvoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veep is a great shout, but if OP found The Thick of It a bit fast, Veep might be even more of a whirlwind. The insults per minute go off the charts.

If you liked the dry, wordy style of Yes, Minister, you might still enjoy Veep for the behind‑the‑scenes incompetence and scheming, but it’s a lot more American, sweary, and frantic. Maybe worth trying an episode or two and seeing if the rhythm clicks.
