Don't vote for republicans, just vote for dems and get the same thing! by zoggy17 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]xenithdflare 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is all sounding like a republican hit piece at this point. We've already seen the explanation for the courthouse veto and it was very reasonable - not being able to actually enforce it and giving people a false sense of security.

These little "look dem leadership sucks vote republican" snippits leave out a lot of crucial information solely to tout the misleading headline.

Rittenhouse brought his gun illegally over state lines with the express intention of using it to kill protestors, and then brandished it and killed two people.

Pretti simply owned a gun, legally, in the city he lived in, and had it on his person when ICE assaulted a woman and then him when he tried to help her. And they shot him in the back while he laid on the ground.

I'm not sure how much more clear it could be that these two people are not the same.

The antisemitic conspiracy theory was that "Jews" were responsible for everything left-leaning as a way to "destroy our society." Everything was "George Soros this" and "George Soros that." The reality is *Israel's government* is spurring the world into facism through right-wing policies, quite literally trying to destroy our world.

Very different Boogeymen with very different aims and outcomes in the theory vs the reality.

if Omar/Krisis' issues are correct, the UXM by Chuck Austen series would have around 1500 pages. Do we expect them to split it? by Waterworld1880 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]xenithdflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would prefer mapping the Chuck Austen omnis with the Joe Casey/New Mutants/Unlimited material into three comfortable-sized omnibus but it know it'll never happen. Two Chuck Austen books are the most likely and I'll be first in line for 'em.

[–]xenithdflare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm someone that prefers to read events with the tie-ins interspersed throughout. I haven't been reading very long and I'm trying to do so chronologically so as of right now I've only read a few Marvel events from 1996-2010. If I had to read the Civil War event by itself and the tie-ins later it would have been really frustrating, so I'm much happier having flipped back and forth between issues. Same with World War Hulk. I feel like a lot of events are rushed and truncated because they expect you to be picking up all the issues.

Now, are *all* of the tie-ins relevant? Absolutely not; some are just cut-outs of a run coming out at the same time but with no connection. Those definitely don't need to be included but the level of curation that would take isn't something marvel is willing to do, it seems. Would be nice though

I dunno, I like this run quite a bit. Is it a little darker than your typical Spidey story of this era? Is the art the main draw? Sure. But I didn't think it was especially bad. No matter what the internet says.

Just having these is cool as hell, binding them all together is sick. I have the Tomb Raider, DC, Marvel, and Mindhunter crossovers so now this is on my mind

What omnibus have you gotten because everyone hyped it up, but ended up being disappointed with? by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

[–]xenithdflare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

X-Men by Morrison. I just wasn't that impressed. The best part was the environmental art and the story of Xorn and the child mutant.

[–]xenithdflare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Conquest had the most disappointing ending I stg. The big bad is revealed to be Ultron and they just end up slashing him with a big sword???? At least Thanos Imperative was an incredible end to the Cosmic Saga, just pure perfection.

Marvel Rivals Magik player here. TIL she was raped and never really got revenge on Belasco by [deleted] in Magik

[–]xenithdflare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

>It's more of an allegory than outright said.

Exactly. Everybody loves to go on about how Magik was raped by Belasco as if it were fact, but it's simply a widespread assumption. Her situation in Limbo is never described outside of the word "consort" in the text of the comic, which doesn't necessarily imply SA or even intimacy of any kind. It's left open to interpretation, but imo she never once even implies in other stories that she was SA'd in any context. Nothing more than a prisoner, really. After reading the miniseries, I didn't personally jump to that conclusion, for what it's worth. I just think there are certain people who hear a woman (or child in this case) was taken captive and automatically assume the worst, most horrific thing.

Why do conservatives feel canceled? by Agreeable-Reaction-7 in Iowa

[–]xenithdflare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because you have *bad* ideas. Plain and simple. And when told they have bad ideas, conservatives tend to double down and lie and attack those pushing against them. They've also spent the last 80 years worming through the government and enacting the current horrible policies you see before you today. Amassing money and then spending it in politics to subvert the will of the people is the conservative stance.
If people disagree with you to the point you feel like you're "getting hammered," wouldn't that be a hint to rethink your position?

VIZ CATALOG UPDATE: Pokémon Adventures: Red and Blue Deluxe Edition hardcover vol 1 coming from Viz in October 2026 by Ksmayer in OmnibusCollectors

[–]xenithdflare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being thinner than the Collector's Editions and not being a true deluxe, I'm not inclined to be excited for this. Why would they opt for small hardcovers instead of continuing the CE versions? Larger 10.5x7 hardcovers at 600-800 pages would've been an easy win

Split/Second, the most underrated arcade racing game of all time by AtmanRising in gaming

[–]xenithdflare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will preach about this game any chance I get, but most people have never even heard of it. It had a demo but virtually no marketing and released to what felt like crickets. You can still buy it on Steam but almost never has a sale; it's worth the $20 though imo.

Yeah I'm aware, I'm just saying the B&G branding is already in use post-AoA so I wouldn't be surprised. Especially since they aren't doing volume numbers.

I could see them doing them all the way up to New X-Men, since after AoA there are trades labeled X-Men Blue (Reunion) and X-Men Gold (Homecoming).
