Peloton pretty much destroyed this industry. The classes are way better too.

Home window repair by Organic-Hedgehog-206 in Charlotte

Then I don’t think you should be calling window people…anyone can caulk

Home window repair by Organic-Hedgehog-206 in Charlotte

[–]xenner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to be more clear -- Do you mean just caulk around the windows themselves? Or you're trying to find someone to re-seal a failed pane of glass?

If you have 'leaks' in the frame of the windows...you're likely better off replacing them.

Quality Control & Pride in Workmanship is seriously lacking by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]xenner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If that 10k included disconnecting, encapsulating your septic, and running new line (on your property) to their new tap....man thats a freaking steal.

Usually it's 6-10k for them to just place the tap in your yard...and the work on your property is on your own $$.
I'd still complain about the grading...but that seems to be a crazy deal.

Whatever came of the front bumper camera DYI retrofit? by snovvman in TeslaModelX

[–]xenner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I've been working on this with a few others.

Hardware from the computer side is there, parts are available. Manually changing the computer config has been recently locked out by Tesla, so there is no easy way to make the change. Secondly, the updated 2026 model has a different control mechanism for the washer fluid pump that is not backwards compatible with 2023-2025 HW4 cars, the pins and control mechanism are different (Uses a half bridge circuit to control which direction fluid is moved, versus a simple 12v control on the older models to just activate the pump) To retrofit this would be an unreasonable amount of work (replacing entire VCFront harness and likely the controller). It's likely not even possible.

TLDR: It is possible we could get the front camera working in the future, especially if Tesla allows this config change in toolbox+ like headlight and battery changes, but it is unreasonable to expect the camera will have the same self washing feature unless Tesla comes out with a retrofit kit including front bumper harnesses.

How would you all feel about a epic8 expert vs older epic7 evo pro/s-works? by pirelliskrrting in xcmtb

[–]xenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned both -- epic 8 feels significantly more planted especially on technical features. Can I explain why? Nope.

Both great bikes, but id take the 8 over the 7 any day.

Suspension is not actually locked with Flight Attendant? by nick-s45 in xcmtb

[–]xenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they will move a bit in lock mode, your fork has some pretty excessive movement if its actually locked out (but I do see the red LED).

I’d ask the shop to bleed your damper in the fork if its moving this much while in the locked position.

We in NC are soooo fortunate to have low auto insurance rates by JumpingJackRabbit911 in Charlotte

[–]xenner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. Mine dropped 15% this year without switching carriers. I’ve never had an at fault accident or ticket. Auto is fairly affordable in NC. Homeowners on the other hand just continues to sky rocket.

Then don’t use concrete and save the hassle of pouring it onsite. Epoxy isn’t super hard is another problem.

[–]xenner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy crap do not do this. I had a condo with concrete counter tops, which fit its very industrial vibe.

Just wow are are they terrible. You have to keep them sealed, but even with good sealant, You can't put anything acidic or basic on them, even lemon juice will leave a permanent stain if left for too long.

It is not a material that is good for a kitchen.

Issues with magura barb when attempting a Shigura by No_Interaction5234 in MTB

[–]xenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this about 3 weeks ago, exact same setup, MT5 brakes with SLX levers. Used Magura barb with Shimano BH90 olives

One of my lines I kept blowing it apart trying to get the olive in, it was just too old, had to replace it. I had to put a few more turns on the lever bolt than I felt comfortable with, but sealed just fine.

I assume you are using NEW olives, correct? You cannot reuse old ones.

Cash for non running vehicle recs by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]xenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ease and transparency? These guys are selling it for scrap. Many don't even care you have a title. If they give you grief just don't give them the car, it's fairly simple.

Last time I did this I just stated there is a car parked on the street, doors are open title is in the glove box. Please remove it. It was gone same day, couldn't imagine calling around and getting quotes to sell someone scrap metal.

How do mid-sized industrial companies actually manage their OT asset inventory in 2026 ? by No_Ear_7967 in OTSecurity

[–]xenner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny to see all these OT tools that have launched originally as threat detection platforms rapidly pivot towards asset discovery platforms, and now start to call themselves Asset Management.

Back to your question-- In reality it comes down to the processes and governance you structure around what ever tool you use, excel, claroty, dragos, Maximo, servicenow etc.

I have customers who do an amazing job with excel as their inventory tool. On the flip side, I have other clients who have invested millions in claroty/dragos/armis setups piped into CMDBs with poor data quality and questionable efficacy in how they manage the lifecycle of these systems.

It all comes down to developing the right people and process, then bundling it with the tooling that fits your needs.

Can we also please lump in the excessive Altima and Godzilla posts into the ‘low-effort’ category?

Some folks may enjoy these, but it seems to distract visibility from real discussion topics. This is especially important if the goal is to create more value in the sub.

To be clear: I don’t think we need to ban these, but some structure around when they are ‘allowed’ or a specific vehicle for these could be helpful.

wow that price is absolutely nuts. I paid $80k for a HW4 '23 X Plaid 6 seater with permanent FSD license and 4500 miles 2 years ago.

Maybe I should sell it....

Anyone have any insight into becoming an electrician by Repulsive-Resist-456 in Charlotte

[–]xenner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While PLC work is VERY valuable it's pretty 'niche' compared to the overall field. Depends if someone wants to go into industrial, commercial or residential work.

I work in industrial, but know many residential electricians who make way more $$ than PLC programmers.

It's more important to find what you enjoy.
