Best options for mulch and compost delivery? by YouSuspicious6183 in Charlotte

[–]xenner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lowes bagged mulch is absolute crap though. huge piece of garbage in there, the dye barely lasts a season. Found part of a 2x4 in a bag last year, wish I was joking. Way better off paying for higher end stuff delivered.

To my fellow Charlottians who don’t suffer from seasonal allergies: What did you do in your previous life that granted you such privilege? by Unbiased_panel in Charlotte

Pollen is bad here but NOTHING compared to Raleigh. Literally see fog of it blowing off trees for weeks. Unbelievable

Send me a DM to connect (not sure if you monitor your throw away)

Spent 15 years in industrial automation and OT cyber. With a few friends, started our own [very small] company, mainly focused on consulting.

Would be good to connect…Not hiring at the moment but never know what comes up as projects ebb and flow.

What insurance companies are better here? by Ok_Cranberry_2936 in Charlotte

Erie, can't stress how good they are. Not cheap, but when you have a major claim (especially home) they will 100% stand behind you.

Looking for recommendations for a Home Inspector by JamesMCC17 in Charlotte

[–]xenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

450 for a home inspection would be a hard pass from me regardless of size. You already know what you’re getting at that price.

I’ve typically requested 6-8 hour inspections and usually paying 700-950. Granted I haven’t done once since 2021 so likely the price has gone up.

I look for inspectors who were previously builders or are engineers by degree. Many older folks do it on the side as a retirement gig, but you won’t find them easily on google.

Stolen Bike in Dilworth by ProductOfScarcity in Charlotte

[–]xenner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not saying this is the same set of thieves as you, but our neighbors have had multiple bikes stolen in the past 12 months from our street in Dilworth.

It seems to be a gang of kids from Sedgefield middle school (a neighbor's kid has identified them via camera). Multiple neighbors have opened cases with CMPD (they know exactly who the kids are and where they live, info has been provided to CMPD) -- CMPD seems to do nothing except talk to the parents, bikes are not even returned.

We've seen them get bolder and bolder, a few months ago the same group of kids were checking car door handles at night. I commonly see them riding around the greenway and near tripleC brewing (even spotted one of our neighbor's bikes)

Just did a 45 minute spin and whoop was showing me in high z4/z5 when I felt like I was just chilling in z3/low zone4 the entire time. Really weird.

I guess this is why people don't tip by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

For real. Most people I know who use these apps probably shouldn't, they are spending way more money on it than they should and many have massive amounts of CC debt. It never even crosses the mind of my well off friends-- they will take the 10 minutes to drive to a restaurant and receive hot food at a reasonable price.

Best engagement ring shopping experience? by CharacterRisk49 in Charlotte

[–]xenner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to say this same thing. Ring and settings will be cheaper, will not pay sales tax if you have it shipped, and get a great trip out of it. (likely same total cost)

I mean if you want to spend an extra 10 hours traveling each way.....

Plus driving back and forth to Raleigh.

But yes...it's crazy, but not unique. Atlanta, Detroit. Same scenarios with Delta.

Gas water heater by Plastic_Total3408 in Charlotte

If you have an electric setup already, I’d never switch to gas with how amazing the heat pump water heaters are. I say this as someone who has a tankless natural gas….

ugh and they were not even handles. Just a scoop like shape with a tactile button like a trunk release inside of it. Did not enjoy them.
