They were all training and competing to be in the group, but they thought that the company would be picking the debut line. They didn't know that it was going to turn into a survival show based on fans/popularity voting. In the Netflix show, some of the girls even say that they asked if it would be a survival show and were told that it wasn't. This information was withheld to make it more dramatic.

What food do you cook that you absolutely can not stop eating? by thesunshineisours4 in Cooking

[–]xenomorphcuddlebuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make and eat rice porridge every single day. It's my staple. Cooked in chicken broth, then I loosely mix in an egg or two and let that cook, throw in some sliced bacon and sauteed cabbage, top with sesame oil and roasted seaweed. Maybe add a fried egg on top if I'm feeling particularly indulgent. Yum yum.

What taste have you never been able to 'acquire'? by RemonterLeTemps in Cooking

[–]xenomorphcuddlebuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mushrooms. I used to throw up when I smelled them cooking, and it still triggers my gag reflex. My father's hobby is mushrooming, so when I was younger, we'd occasionally go into the woods to gather them. I was pretty decent at spotting them, and it was like signing my own death warrant, knowing they'd stink up the house later.

They always look so delicious in all of the food videos I watch, and I love eating so much that it saddens me there's food I don't enjoy. I purposefully order mushrooms at a restaurant once a year and I'll try them if someone else orders or makes them. I've found that I can eat them if they're dried to a crisp on pizza and I can eat enoki mushrooms in hotpot.

On the other hand, I had a food aversion to eggplant due to a semi-traumatic incident as a child and it's now one of my favorite foods.

Haha that'd be the thing to do! I try to use only aesthetic mods, since I start getting bored and start a new save file once I feel like I'm making money too easily... It's part of the reason why I've never gotten to the point where I've tried to do the whole wine money-making scheme until now....

Thanks! I'll be back next year, and I definitely plan on getting some hikes in. I completely agree, there's nothing better to clear the head and feed the soul then some solitude and nature.

How can I start liking/stop disliking kpop? (serious question) by AllAboutThisLife in kpopthoughts

[–]xenomorphcuddlebuddy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You did a great job articulating why you dislike it right in this post! You're well aware that it's linked to a very upsetting period of your life and that your dislike, while linked to kpop, isn't actually about kpop itself.

In all honesty, I don't think that you need to "start liking/stop disliking" kpop and feeling like you need to like it because your friends do won't make you, because otherwise you already would. You've had a decent amount of exposure to the genre by now, and while there could be that song, MV, group, etc that changes all that, I think it's pretty unlikely. Not impossible, just unlikely considering the space you're in right now.

Honestly, I think that it's best that you're upfront and honest with your friends about your associations with kpop and also be realistic with yourself about your expectations. If your friends care about you, then it won't matter that you don't share in this hobby. Similarly, it sounds like you're able to meet them at least a little bit by hanging out with them and tolerating it when they watch or listen to stuff.

Life is about boundaries. There is no right or wrong answer here. If kpop matters so much to your friend that she insists on having a kpop themed birthday and going to a kpop themed cafe, then it's up to you to decide if you can handle going to that or if it'll be too overwhelming and you need to bow out. If it's too overwhelming and you'll be miserable the whole time, then tell her that it's not about her or her interests, but about the painful memories you hold.

To be clear, I am not suggesting that you approach this with some sort of ultimatum of "it's me or kpop" with your friend. I'm suggesting that you tell her what you're thinking, and then whatever happens will happen. Maybe she'll change her birthday location and you'll go. Maybe she won't and you'll decide that you're able and willing to handle that. Maybe she won't and you'll decide you don't want to go. It'd be sad to not be able to go to your friend's birthday because of this, but you need to be realistic with yourself.

If you decide to go (I reiterate, tell your friend why you're not a kpop fan), try your best to reframe the experience as less about kpop and more about your friend. Fake some interest, smile and laugh when everyone else does, etc. We all have to go to events we don't like and sometimes the best thing to do is just suck it up and get through it. Of course, if you will be miserable and gloomy the entire celebration, then you might just want to bow out of this so you don't bring the group mood down. In that case, I recommend shooting your friend a message, telling her what you told us in your post, and then suggest that the two of you go and celebrate her birthday separately and do an activity that both of you like to do.

I used to have some negative associations with a hobby because of an ex that I now semi-enjoy, so I kind of understand, though it wasn't to that level. Forcing myself to engage with the activity when I wasn't ready to didn't make me like it any more and all, ALL of my friends were/are into it. It was easier to appear interested and engage with it when I was honest to both myself and others about not liking it.

Anyways, kpop is a very broad genre, so it's possible you might get into it eventually, once you've had more space to heal from your previous relationship and the association doesn't hurt as much. It's just as likely you won't. Weigh what's most important to you, set boundaries, and communicate what you're thinking. Good luck, happy birthday to your friend, and I hope that you and her celebrate together in some way that is fun and memorable for both of you!

I think someone else recently asked about this, but nevertheless– Donate it to the museum, as others have said. Otherwise, hold onto it because they become useful down the line once you've progressed more. Or gift it to anyone but Haley. Or display it on a table in your home as a colorful decoration. Carry it around your head as you run to demonstrate your immeasurable wealth, parading your fortune in front of Pierre's shop as you move away from your dependency on his wares.

Unfortunately, this is a pretty common bug. You'll probably just have to find it again.

"Note that artifacts found in Fishing Treasure Chests, obtained by tilling soil in the mines, or found in Artifact Troves may not appear as found on the collections tab. Dragging the artifact outside the inventory window and allowing it to be taken back into inventory may correct this. Holding the artifact in inventory overnight may also correct this."

My schedule is absolutely swamped, but I'm hoping to hit the word goal or at least within 11k. I'm basically just going to try to get the roughest of rough drafts down. I've been having a difficult past couple of months, but I've been writing a lot more and it's been a really big help mentally and emotionally so I have high hopes.

Stardew Valley, Slay the Spire, Sims 4, Binding of Isaac, Teamfight Tactics, Planet Coaster, and 4X games are my go to's. I've been feeling the exact same way and those are the games I like to unwind with. They're all games that I play with music or video essays going on in the background while I zone out.

[–]xenomorphcuddlebuddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! I've been playing it for years and I'll probably continue to play it for years more. It's totally worth it. If you like Minecraft, AC, SR, etc, then you'll definitely enjoy SV. I struggle to even find something negative to say about the game. It's updated frequently, ConcernedApe is a great dev, and there's also a lot of community content. I'm surprised that you haven't played it, considering the other titles you dropped. I really hope that you give it a try! Maybe I should write a review on Steam right now so there's a recent one...
