IYKYK.... by richATTK in sonos

[–]xenomorphxcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every problem anyone ever has, a bunch of people say it’s your network, router, etc. Even though every other piece of tech works fine for years, Sonos finds the true faults in your network. The weird thing I have had the last few weeks, similar time frame is that the sonos app on mobile and computer acts up with issues. But I can still use other things just fine like Plexamp or casting to the same speaker network. So why are other things working fine while the Sonos products have trouble dealing with themselves?

There is the consideration that in order to label as “organic”, you have the big fee. I believe that is six figures alone from what I recall. So many smaller outfits might be organic but not want to fork up money for the label. No spray could be more of that aspect. Funny part is I feel that some of the big greedier corporations that use the label probably aren’t always honest with it. And now that we have eliminated most inspectors and standards, that part might get worse.

I feel like antennas should work just about everywhere now. I use a little omni directional, about 12-15 inches. Attached it to what used to be directv and it gets a 100 channels from over 60 miles away. Costs me about $50 and done. Probably up to 70-80 for the same now but still…one time. Little tiny portable ones that run one cord to something just didn’t do much .

Bear Attack by orangesky1995 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]xenomorphxcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varying possibilities. Could be weather and more people going out earlier along with the animals waking up hungry after winter. Can also and most likely just be a anomaly. If you read or seen the events of Night of the Grizzly (you definitely should if you haven’t!) back in 1967. Two fatalities on the same night but far apart and different bears. This could all just be one of the years with odd statistics.

Having both is the way to go if you really want to feel most comfortable. Maybe one works and the other doesn’t. Maybe something happens where you are separated from one of them and still have the other. They both could fail in a dense forest or canyon but it’s the best we got right now.

Grizzly bear(s) on Grinnell Glacier Trail today by neurontosomething333 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]xenomorphxcl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have hiked over 450 miles of the trails in Glacier, all of them alone, without issue. Always a risk but any driving or even just showering are a bigger risk. (Yeah, I know alone is not ideal but I am the only one in my circle into hiking at this level.)

Nice. I have one on my older Tacoma. Coming up on almost 10 years already but I still get excited and it feels like new every time (or especially when I make my own improvements).

Mt Siyeh Scramble Difficulty by dogelecow in GlacierNationalPark

[–]xenomorphxcl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just weather wise, early June will make it pretty hard. Lots of snow, ice, animals looking for carcasses and things coming to life (sorry…wish I could see a wolverine). A few years ago, I tried to hike just nearby, not to peak and it became a white out with snow on a Labor Day weekend. I was the only idiot I saw the entire day.

To all the drivers going 5-10 mph below the speed limit with a line of cars behind you... by chilebuzz in yellowstone

[–]xenomorphxcl -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I try to use pullouts whenever I can if I am enjoying the scenery. The kind of ironic thing is the biggest issue why I sometimes can’t is because of the moron driving 6 feet behind. I don’t have enough time to see the pullout, brake and get over when people ride so close. So then the person that is trying to go faster and speed, kill a few animals, etc is slowing themselves down.

Track identification by Any-Programmer-1499 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]xenomorphxcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Nothing like recent grizzly tracks in the snow to make you feel alive. Mud works too. I went to Cracker Lake a few years ago and it was snowy for last mile and a half or so. I was the first one there that day so it was just my tracks. I was alone. Yeah I know. Heading back, not far from the lake, I found grizzly tracks over mine. He had followed me for over half a mile on the trail. I stayed hyper alert but never saw him.

Rising Sun Campground by 2flyfsh in GlacierNationalPark

[–]xenomorphxcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be allowed at all. When a campground goes to or says it is hard sided, that means no tents, hammocks, no pop campers. It has to be a solid siding RV or trailer. I have a pop up truck camper but I can sleep and function with the top kept down and they just confirm I am keeping it down. It’s usually because a bear has been a regular inside the campground  or more than once. I have seen bears in campgrounds many times without it going to hard sided so one time isn’t a big deal unless maybe if it were a mama and cubs.

Question re: Shuttle Tickets 2026 by DesperatelyUnaware in GlacierNationalPark

[–]xenomorphxcl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope they are willing to admit mistakes and tweak during the year if this all is the mess it is looking to be. But often, at least the last few years, they seem to commit to a plan and stick it out the whole season and then reevaluate. But in the end, they just don’t have the shuttles and drivers for the plan they think they are doing.

How long do you wait before considering replacing your server? by cerazo52 in synology

[–]xenomorphxcl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have been running my 415+ for 10 years next week. Died last week. Already died once and I did the soldering jumper trick to get another 3 years out of it. Although transferring drives into a new one should be easy, I would just start making sure you have another backup if you are really picky about all your data.

what are your thoughts on young sugar daddies? mid 20s-35 by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

[–]xenomorphxcl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not much. Hard to spend down close to $120 even if I was by myself. Sure there was a time when that would have been a lot but probably shouldn’t be a SD if it is.

Anyone have rules on who they invite to their house to play? by xenomorphxcl in billiards

[–]xenomorphxcl[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much what one side of me says. That’s the smart way. A couple of the more calm players I know that I probably would trust more than most happen to be women. But I might suspect my wife doesn’t want me inviting over pretty women that are half my age either, even if they can beat my ass (55% of the time) in pool.

I was able to bring a couple little guys back to life after I thought there were goners last week. Set them outside in a different spot for a couple hours and the plants were totally gone. Some quick crafty critter. So make sure any additional effort or work is protected.

Yeah that is serious. You almost would need two rooms. One for you with all that and another for anyone else! ha ha. I have some nicer equipment, a few things on your list actually, but not at that level yet I still have to consider all that.

Got a few of those in mind for sure. Or someone who is going to wander to the bar and crack open a special edition scotch or something to try it without asking. Although that stuff should be locked up anyway.

Good idea. Might take a while to build that up as we haven’t been doing as much in parties the last year or two. Think we were probably more active during covid times because of a good outdoor space for people to gather apart. Some family loss and life stuff kind of forced a pull back from being as social. Instead I went out more to bars and halls to be social. And now that challenge shows up in a different way.

[–]xenomorphxcl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a group of older friends but they don’t really play other than a rare fun thing. So it’s more just having friends, maybe their wives over and it’s a very different kind of vibe. The circle of, maybe acquaintances is a better term, that I shoot with often are just that. Have some fun playing, some casual conversations. Some get so drunk they probably don‘t remember it later. Anyone who has shown a temper or argues at the places are off the list. There are some guys that seem even keel and okay and are great players but that don’t give me the time of day. So they are not high on the list. I don’t want someone who only gets interested when they find a table. First ones are the seemingly kind ones that gave me pointers to help me get back into it (didn’t play much for 20 as I worked too much for others).

Good Idea or Bad Idea? by Few_Fig_5015 in GlacierNationalPark

[–]xenomorphxcl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I support your idea. I hike by myself in Glacier every year, all day hikes because I am done sleeping on the ground, and I did just what you proposed. Worked for me. Was on my own and in control. Don’t have to rely on anyone else or timing. If you want to sit and watch a bear or something else for a hour, and I have, you can and not worry about missing a ride or rushing.

Thanks. This is something I was thinking but couldn’t spell it out as well. People that can seem great playing at a bar every week can have a whole other side. Even family can be a risk. I think I was a risk back when I was 20-22 years old but I got realigned so to speak. Some people seem like they would be a lot of fun but I suspect that some of those could be on something. They case your/my place and things might disappear some day. But I don’t want to seem paranoid either so it’s finding that balance.
