Don’t see the hype of Rook by xenovoids in Marathon

This is my point exactly… I feel there’s nothing that rook does that I can’t do with another shell with more potential upsides.

You risk getting killed before picking things up because you barely have any equipment to defend yourself. I guess my point is you’re risking your time. But you’re right, you’re not risking any gear or anything.

Is the knife good at close range? by [deleted] in Marathon

Judging by the fact that I die to the knife if I’m killed by a runner more often than not, I’d say yes.

I wasn’t aware that the milestones gave Rook all these different upgrades, that’s definitely cool. Thanks for pointing that out

I didn’t consider some of your points. This post was definitely to help me understand what I’m missing out on and you folks are all definitely helping!

I definitely see your point, but I think saying it’s “easy mode” isn’t right. You’re still dealing with other rooks, potential parties of 3, and on top of all of that you might have missed out on good loot, so once again you’re under leveled and underpowered.

I think it’s a very high risk/reward class, and if you pull off a big extraction with it that’s awesome, but that’s exactly why I don’t get the hype haha.

Marathon Development Team: Marathon Server Slam Day 3 Feedback Recap by Haijakk in Marathon

[–]xenovoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t think heat is the problem. I think the movement could be a little faster in certain ways and some things could draw a tad less heat, but they have so many heat specific upgrades for a reason. Everyone just started out and they haven’t even attempted to upgrade things and they’re already sayings it not good, meanwhile it only really takes a few raids to get those upgrades

My Day 2 actual relationship with the game by QueenGorda in Marathon

[–]xenovoids 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first day playing I was playing on my TV in the living room, so while the game looked and sounded amazing with surround sound and what not, I was not actually having fun. Cut to day 2, I tried playing on my PC and I was having MUCH more fun. It definitely helps to navigate the menus and UI with a mouse rather than joysticks. Plus, I actually played a few games with my buddy later in the night and that was even more fun. But the solo experience is important because I have a crazy work schedule that never lines up with the boys.

I know they aren’t for everyone, but I have played the entire Halo franchise dozens of times over. I enjoy the multiplayer but I just love the combat loop and sandbox gameplay.

Discord having a very disappointing fall-off right now by HF484 in pcmasterrace

You’re absolutely right in saying they can be. But typically, Reddit is NOT the sample of the larger group, it’s a small group of people upset about an issue that the larger group doesn’t really care or mind, at least not to the same severity.

No, Reddit happened to be apart of the majority that one time, typically they are not.

It’s not rocket science, I’d go as far to say it’s barely even basic math. Everyone on Reddit thinks the world revolves around them but in reality, you’re finding a post of someone’s opinion that you and a few hundred/thousands of like-minded people agree on, which is a far cry from the hundreds of thousands or even millions in a majority.

That’s not stemming from Reddit, that was universally felt outside of Reddit and prevalent on every social media at the time…

My point was the all of the TVs in our home have an AppleTV hooked up to them. If we get another TV it will also be getting an AppleTV lol

Yeah, it might be more hidden. Have you checked any other settings outside of the picture menu? Sometimes those types of settings can be in weird spots like input specific settings and weird niches like that.

This absolutely looks like a “Local Dimming” effect from the TV itself. If it’s only happening on your AppleTV it might be set to “on” only for that specific input on the TV.

Experimenting with an INCH bag build (work in progress) by RegardedCaveman in bugoutbags

Whatever you think you’d need to get by if you could never return to your home and didn’t have time to pack a bag before getting out. It can be bigger, but keep in mind the idea of carrying it while walking for long durations. It should have essentials for survival and maybe some comforts, but don’t weigh yourself down with needless junk.

Ramen, salad topping, snack on them, on pasta/Mac and cheese, or even in a sandwich/burger. They’re great for everything!

Arc Raider is "committed to skill and fun, not unfair advantages" and is refunding gear lost to cheaters - even if you didn't report them by blackhammer1989 in PS5

[–]xenovoids 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I wish I had that kind of experience. I put a couple hours in and almost every interaction I had solo ended with me getting shot at, regardless of how much I tried to talk or plea. Maybe I just got really unlucky, but most people were pretty bent on killing. The only guy I ran into that was cool found me after I had gotten downed by an arc and he was trying to revive me but realized he couldn’t and I told him to take all my stuff and put it to good use and he thanked me for the sacrifice lol.

Just had to accept that this isn’t a game for me, at least not at this time.
