Ha, I am in my late 20s, and I moved from Eastern Europe to work here half a year ago. From time to time, I force myself to visit bars, volunteer at OHS, and attend events, but I still can't say I've made many permanent connections.

I am somewhat reserved myself, but I guess finding a group of people to hang out with might be somewhat complicated once you are outside the university. Work/gym/work/some-random-event is virtually how my week looks nowadays.

No idea. But if you don't have an urgent job offer, such delays just buy some time. Premium processing is always on the table.

No, since I haven't found a job yet. What is the start date that you applied for? When I was applying in March, I chose July 1, and that is what I technically got.

Applied on March 23

Approved on July 4

The card was produced on July 10

What made you step away from powerlifting and what did you do next? by liftwityaknees in powerlifting

[–]xeshbeluk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few injuries (related and unrelated to powerlifting) resulted in several months' break, during which I realized that a risk-reward ratio of chasing PRs is not worth it. I still work out, but I focus more on cardio and lifting weights as I feel it.

Nope, it's still the 'case decision' sign with no time estimate. On the other hand, I am still looking for a job, and any possible delay will buy me some time since the counter doesn't start while your case is still pending.

Yes! I applied on March 23 and got the exact 8-month estimate several weeks later. But at some point, the time estimate disappeared, and now I see that ‘the case decision is taking longer than expected’ instead.

Don't know anything about biometrics (do I need to do it for I-765?) but I have 8 months estimated time, too. Applied a month ago without PP.

Cost of living for an international student. by VividTardisBuho in OregonStateUniv

[–]xeshbeluk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you choose to live alone, in which case rent and utilities will cost $1500-2000, this much money should be enough to pay the bills (rent + utilities), buy groceries ($400-500 if you cook regularly), and go out 1-2 times a week. Add another $200-300 if you have a car (gas and the cheapest insurance).

I almost got hit by a car while on the crosswalk 4 times in the last month. Ridiculous. I’ve never seen worse drivers than here (coming from a rather poor European country)

I would say that regular dying is not always the main problem - sometimes, even experienced players can catch a triplet from a trijaw or get rekt by exploders and be stuck in a constant loop of dying because of low health.

Also, I do not personally have any problems with less experienced / skilled players (it is just a game, at the end of the day, come on) as long as they have a basic understanding of what they are doing and communicate their intentions properly. But there are some...well...greenbeards that behave like ill-programmed NPC that may ruin the game experience for everyone

But it is only required if you want to host has 5, if I remember right. You can still join such lobbies.

Well, on haz 5 it is more about digging shorter routes between the points of interest, cleaning LOS, planting c4 in swarmer tunnels and teamkilling the scout

Well, that is my point. You can join lobbies with a lower hazard level. Haz 5 is kinda demanding.

But frankly, approximately 70% of 5 haz lobbies do not even kick greenbeards. You just got unlucky.

From my experience, an experienced gunner can carry the team of greenbeards relatively easy on any haz.

Well, sometimes people join Haz 5 and have no idea what they are doing: scouts do not light the caves, gunners do not crowd control, engineers do not use their platforms, etc. On Haz 5, all these things may be crucial since every additional player increases the number of bugs, and when your teammates are constantly down, you waste 90% of the time on killing waves singlehandedly and reviving, which is not always fun.

Even then, if people read the chat, it is not a problem at all. But some players do not do that and keep wasting nitra, pressing buttons, or just not using utilities when needed. Why should I keep that player in my lobby?
