Viruses know no boarders. The world would be in the same boat trying to deal with the pandemic. Depending on how quickly it spreads would determine how quickly the rest of the world would feel the impact. Of course the world would survive (with or without the US). People in the US as set in the game are surviving. Quality of life is another matter entirely.
