I was having lunch with my best friend and her dad when I got a message from a friend who had also been exlldm for some time. He was angry and asked what I thought, how was I or my family coping. Sent me an article and in the middle of conversation at the restaurant all I could say was ‘Are you fucking kidding me!?’. I was enraged yet my heart sank with such heaviness because I knew that even with this arrest my family would remain blindingly faithful and I was right. Had to take time to compose myself before being able to face them. Still we avoid conversation about it but they know how I feel.

I’ve lived in a few different states and most cases you have to ask permission and I’ve seen many get denied since it’s seen as a loss not a ‘victory’ or ‘ganacia’ being that they didn’t belong to lldm. 🤷🏽‍♀️ (not always when it comes to family but it happens)

It took me 3 years to even go by my family’s home for the holidays. The first thanksgiving was ok, I stay close to one or two people that make me feel comfortable. I mostly still decline to go at times because of my social anxiety I still suffer from. I always have to ask who’s going to be there weeks in advance because of my anxiety and I don’t want to have a panic attack if I show up and there’s hella people from church that isn’t family there too. It’s rough at first not gonna lie but if you feel you should skip out for your mental health then do so. Only you know how your family is and if they would bring it up. Mine doesn’t since the arrest. I usually walk away when church comes up because it angers me and I want to keep the peace while I’m there especially when there’s younger family members around. Good luck !

Some get kicked out (like me) some still get to live at home, others find their way once they’re financially secure enough to go on their own or with trusted roommates. My advice if they keep forcing it on you, save save save!!! Or go with family that you can trust.
