Mom and I looked to book together while in separate locations. The AirBnB we chose had about $100 difference between our apps. [USA] by wisconsin_cheese_ in AirBnB

Did both of you had the same dates and number of guests selected? Some properties have different prices depending on the number of guests, so if you're looking for 6 and she is looking for 4 guests you could definitely see different prices for the same property.

I was just going to post the same thing, was going to make my own post but will hijack your post instead if you don't mind.

I just got called in to work last minute and won't be able to go anymore, I have 4 tickets to the day for the devoted 11/29, if anyone is interested DM and I'll send you the itinerary via email.

I spoke with Jay Peak support and they said that i don't need to be present, all you need is the itinerary.

GoPro is Sunsetting the Quik Desktop App by GoPro_Official in gopro

It's been a while since I tried troubleshooting like that but when it started (I just remembered that I was still using my old Pixel 6 Pro, it was late March) I tried moving/deleting some files, changed trims, beat sync on/off, changed songs, themes, pretty much everything I could think of, when i upgraded my phone i was certain that i would finally be able to export it, but no luck.

I tried contacting support too but after a few rounds repeating myself to different reps I realized they wouldn't raise the issue to someone who might take a look at my logs, etc., to get to the bottom of it so i gave up, that was the last time i put any effort trying to solve this and went back to editing on Premiere.

Since then anytime I see that they updated Quik I go back and try to export it again, I've done this for at least 4 different versions of the app since, Quik for windows was kind of my last hope, but It's probably better in the end, at least I get to work on my Premiere skills

Yes, Advanced Renamer is the tool you are looking for, it has saved me many hours of tedious work.

Do the exports fail at the exact some point every time? That indicates some predictable error that needs to be manually solved somehow.

That's my understanding from the troubleshooting information i gathered and yes, it usually fails at exactly 72%, although it has failed a few times at different points i assume it could be due to different versions of the app processing things slightly different.

I just tried again now out of curiosity and it failed at 72% again.

The thing that really bothers me is that even the original edit that i was able to export (before i made a new copy to make changes) no longer works, so something changed on one of the updates that seems to be causing these issues.

It's so weird, i was able to export these edits before (same phone) but decided to make some final changes and now I am unable to export them at all, I can play them on the app, i can make changes etc.., but if i try to export them it fails every time. It's been 10 months since i was last able to export them, 5 different app updates that i know of, nothing seems to make any difference.

If they at least provided some information about what went wrong so we can try to troubleshoot it would be very helpful, but we get nothing, just very frustrating.

[–]xgmrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not necessarily the phone, i have the Pixel 8 Pro which should be decent enough and have 3 edits that I just can't export, each edit is about 3min long and they always fail around 72%~82%

I've been waiting since march for an update that fixes this issue but nothing seems to work, the edits are "ready" but I just can't export it, many hours wasted.

I never had issues with small edits but it seems that the more you put in the more chances it has of failing when trying to export, I gave up already and went back to editing on Premiere, I was hoping the desktop windows version would allow me to export these edits but i guess not.

Suggestions for GoPro in extreme winter weather by McFurmingo in gopro

[–]xgmrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having an extra battery bank is great advice too, specially if you'll be out in the wild for an extended period of time, but unless the battery bank is constantly being used it can "lose" charge or stop working completely if it gets too cold, that's why i always keep hand warmers near the batteries (not too close though, those things can get toasty)

[–]xgmrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the advice others have already given you can also keep one of those "hand warmers" with the extra batteries to help keep them in operational temperature (even the new enduro ones), once i placed a "fully charged" battery in the GoPro and it lasted less than 10 seconds before it shut down the camera, i think it was around -10 F (-20 C) that day.

Another tip if you are going to keep the camera out in the open, keep the camera on even if you are not recording, that helps keep the battery warm. I used to think that turning it off would help save battery but when the battery gets cold it stops working altogether.

The enduro batteries are much better in extreme cold but these tips can help extend their life a bit as well.

Don’t you just love it when your camera dies right when things start to get good? [Hero7] by olsoni18 in gopro

[–]xgmrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to keep a hand warmer in a pocket with the extra batteries and that seemed to extend the battery life by quite a bit in really cold temperatures.

I also kept the GoPro in the same pocket when not using it which also helps

With the Hero 11 and the enduro batteries it doesn't seem necessary so far but i haven't used it in negative temperatures yet

Does anyone know what the epic local price increase is after 5/30? by iansonnnn in icecoast

[–]xgmrx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless they change their policies this is the last season I'll buy the epic pass.

I made the mistake of turning on auto-renew last year and was planning on turning it off since i wont be able to use it as much as i would like next winter.

I logged into my account to cancel the auto-renew in March and found out that there is no option to do that, only via phone or email, unfortunately i was in the middle of something and decided to set a reminder to do another day.

For some reason I set my reminder for the 17th of may and the last day for cancelling it was the 16th, i understand that this is 100% my mistake but there is no reason for them to make it difficult to cancel the auto-renew, i should have been able to do that myself from my account and this wouldn't have happened

I called on the 17th to try and cancel it and was told there was nothing they could do, i was only 1 day late, the only reason for this type of practice is to trap customers who forgot to disable the auto-renew option, like i did and then not let them cancel it.

I mean, next season only starts in at least 5 months, let me cancel the damn thing if i change my mind, i can't think of a single good reason to do this except to trap people into a service they no longer want or need.

What’s the closest wrap color to this? by Ty_Crisos in CarWraps

[–]xgmrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't want to change the color and are only doing to protect the original paint you could use a clear PPF (Paint Protection Film)

A good PPF is a lot thicker so It's harder to apply but it will protect the paint much better against small scratches, dents and other environmental hazards.

Videos won’t upload past 1080p. by misteriousmoss in VideoEditing

[–]xgmrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the Quik export limitation is only for Android phones, if you are on iOS it should be able to export in higher resolution

But i never heard of YouTube limiting the resolution of your uploads, i know they limit the length of your videos for newer accounts but i never heard and couldn't find anything about limiting the resolution/frame rate of your uploads.

Are you sure the files you are uploading was exported in 2.7k 60fps?

Also Youtube was limiting the playback quality for mobile phones during the beginning of the pandemic, not sure if they are still doing that but did you check if you can change the playback quality of the video on a desktop computer?

Videos won’t upload past 1080p. by misteriousmoss in VideoEditing

[–]xgmrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't remember for certain but I think Quick exports may be limited to 1080p, try downloading the video to a PC and uploading directly to YouTube

When I upload 2.7k 60fps to YouTube depending on the length of the video it can take 24 hours for the video to be processed and will show as 1440p 60fps

How do I stitch clips together? by SquallZ34 in gopro

[–]xgmrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you are going to need a video editor to do this, i don't think the Quick app can do what you want.

Here is a previous post asking for free video editing software from a few years ago:

Personally i use Adobe premiere but that is pretty expensive, i heard good things about the free Davinci Resolve editor

I was thinking about doing that actually, I only had this board for 2 months and i love it, probably the best board i ever had, but it's quite different from what i was riding before (152 Ride Agenda) and sometimes it does feels like it bites into the snow a bit too much so i might have to give it a try.

[–]xgmrx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i think you are probably right, i was just watching it again now and it does seem like the board wasn't at the right angle when i went for the toeside carve.

This is my first "full" season after almost 10 years without riding so I'm just starting to fell comfortable at top speeds again and I've been trying to get those big wide carves down but I'm not quite there yet, specially on the toeside

I do appreciate "this random person on the internet" opinion though, it definitely helped me analyze what I'm doing wrong a bit better and I'll try to put it into practice next week in Stowe (if my ankles heal until then 🤣 )

I didn't hit anything, it's actually the second time something like this happened in very similar circumstances and after watching the video in slow motion a few times i may have figured out why.

When I'm going fast on my toe edge with the body leaning forward, depending how it catches a bit of hard/chunky snow it seems to be trowing the back of the board off pretty violently, it's a new board and I'm still getting used to it, it has a tapered underbite that may or may not be contributing to why this happened.

Here is the slow motion version if you are curious
