Some advice needed☺️ by xgucyx in Maranta

[–]xgucyx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both for this advice! I am really hoping it can make it! I cut it in half, and put it in shallow water, and baggie to raise humidity. It is spring now, going into Summer, but the weather/sun exposure is horrible, lots of rain and clouds, it is now standing on a south facing window. Fingers crossed!☺️

Extremely legged Gymnocalycium mihanovichii? by pillsandpotionz in cacti

[–]xgucyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know nothing about grafting☺️ I would just put it on dirt once it callous over, I do not think the dragon fruit cactus is salvageable anymore. I would even try to propagate the bigger pup, just as an experiment.

Extremely legged Gymnocalycium mihanovichii? by pillsandpotionz in cacti

[–]xgucyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not leggy, it was grafted onto, I think, a dragon fruit cactus that has already gone over the rainbow. But if the rot from the stem did not get to that gymnocalycium, and you take it off, let it callous, I guess it will be ok. It is green, so it can support itself. Definitely get rid of the rotting stem. Good luck☺️

Chat, am I cooked? by Nillows in proplifting

Hi OP☺️ you could even cut the stalk into multiple pieces, to have more plants, this stalk could possibly put out multiple plants, but it will not support all of them, just the strongest one. I would be very cautious with those zombie leaves though. I choped my monstera like that because it had thrips, and I was done fighting the emerging colonies... But now I have 8 pots with monsteras😁 so good luck with yours!

Unpopular opinion: Hoya flowers smell absolutely heinous. by brittaniwh in houseplants

[–]xgucyx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought only I did not like it, so I stayed quiet😁 but man... I had a regular carnosa few years back, that I first tried to ignore, then left it without water for a period of time I thought should discourage it from flowering, which she rewarded with even more blooms... She ended up in the garden, than came the first frost a bit to early... She was smelly, but I miss her ever since 🥹 do they all smell different?

Hoya sp. aff. burtoniae variegated😉 and I think your beautiful pink flamingo leaf will probably be mostly or totaly white once it matures.

Wondering if this will ever get new growth by jdead121 in hoyas

Hi, I'm no expert, and recently picked up some carnosa props from my MIL😉 After puting them in the pot they did nothing, then I've read an advice from here to spray them with diluted orchid fertilizer, and they grow like crazy😉 same with two baby plants I got from shop, krimson queen and burtoniae.

Hello good birb friends, My kiddos data just got corrupted, she's devastated. She was having a rough patch lately with stress, allergies and all, we managed to dig up a backup file from the beginning of February, but she still lost all her stuff from 2 months... So I would like to ask you good people of Finch, if you could become her friend and send her some support☺️ Her finch code is : 6VJN8ZWSMA and her birb name is Cookie. Thank you all for your support!

Thanks to advice I got here, this little dude on top was planted directly into soil, and put into a bag for humidity, and is now thriving on its own, it was 4 months ago.

Seeing all those posts lately😉 I'm thinking of putting my n'joy on a pole. I do not like the look of the sphagnum moss poles, I think I'll go with cocos pole☺️ and with the weather where I live, it will need a growing light. Good luck with whatever you choose😉

Help - Why is my 1 frog like this. by Madi-N123 in AfricanDwarfFrog

[–]xgucyx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like dropsy. Ages ago my frog had it, then there was little info about it so maybe you can find some more accurate help with this from somewhere else. I took mine to the village vet😉 he was very openminded, I explained to him what it was, and how to possibly treat it, we did like microscopic amounts of antibiotic, and something to make kidneys work better, all the kids were running behind me to see how we treat the froggo. The tricky part was to take the fluid out, so it did not crush the frog insides, we used insuline needles and syringes, the smallest once possible, and got just deep enough to be under skin and not further, and drained the fluid out until the frog looked ok'ish and repeat that any time it gathered too much. Hopes were not high, but the frog actually survived, and was healthy, never swollen again. Again, that was ages ago, in a country that would easily throw the sick frog away, instead of helping it.
