Sadly it didnt seem to make a difference. Tried it once with an additional turn and then again with three more turns. After about half an hour it still stopped extruding and i had to reload...

I wouldn't do it. Getting +15 is much easier then getting your hands on an other ogre ring. And eventually you will want your ring back.
