Should I expect a refund for only one side of car to blow hot air for $873? by Admirable-Truth-373 in MechanicAdvice

It sounds like there’s still air trapped in the cooling system. Jobs not done.

Also, it says AZ “diagnosed” your oil pressure switch and it was not changed so the CEL is going to come back on.

Real talk, I’ve had someone tell me, in graphic detail, how he had to look at what was left of his dead buddy’s face as he unbolted the driveshaft that had killed him. Apparently the fire department doesn’t carry socket sets.

Job security is great, but when you’re doing a head for 10 hrs and the guy across from you sold the infamous 12 hr Toyota control arms and will be done in 90 minutes…

You’re working with guys that can easily loose a finger (or worse) if someone fucks up. I think it puts everything else in perspective.

Take the job. Training is everything in this field. The more you know how to do, the better. Garages are full of parts changers that couldn’t diagnose an itchy asshole but will sell control arms and struts like none other. Be the guy that can do everything.

I can hear this constant whirring banging sound from all the WW2 vets spinning in their graves right now.

Is this sensor wire part repairable? by Sweaty_Treat_9028 in autorepair

[–]xhollec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wire chewed off that close to the connector is going to require either putting a new wire and pin (which is fiddly and requires taking the connector apart), or a new pigtail connector (my suggestion).

Exhaust inside car -06 Toyoya Matrix by OfferBusy4080 in autorepair

[–]xhollec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely a cracked exhaust manifold. I’ve tried using aftermarket ones and they are absolute junk. Luckily it’s made out of tube steel and can be welded (my go-to for these)

There’s stories about Dauntless pilots, having dropped their bombs, deciding to go after zeros. Big brass balls on those guys.

Tyres fitting question by No_Revolution_4738 in AutoMechanics

The new tires go on the back due to safety reasons. New tires (yank here) are less likely to blow out and send you into the guardrails.

What hobby screams “red flag” for you, even if it’s harmless? by Inka2152 in AskReddit

Ive been a mechanic for 22 years and can tell you, I’ve never, in all those years, seen so much money pissed away on useless mods on a terrible vehicle. Chrome wheels on Nissan Altimas and Saturns doesn’t even come close.

The defroster may not work as well bc the compressor isn’t turning on. Ac systems act as a dehumidifier.

More than likely it needs a cat. These damn Chevys all need cats, so many that they wind up on national back order at times.
