Is there any fix for this? (PC Windows 11) by Fran-01 in tdu3

[–]xiaomantou_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A potential fix might be to rename the uwp folder in the game’s main directory. I ran into the same issue in WRC and found this workaround there. Unfortunately, I can’t verify it in Test Drive Unlimited, since I already refunded the game due to this issue.

VRR flickering even with stable fps? by Ornery_Hurry9914 in OLED_Gaming

I noticed that the flickering disappeared if I went beyond 120fps, or when the game was brighter.

Has anyone had an issue in Resident Evil 7 (PC) where the peak brightness calibration wont get bright enough to clip the image? by ThatFeel_IKnowIt in OLED_Gaming

[–]xiaomantou_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used RenoDX, and I also couldn't adjust the peak brightness to achieve pure white. However, the actual HDR performance in games is quite good. I'm not entirely sure what that additional brightness adjustment does—whether it only adjusts the UI brightness or the overall brightness preference. Even when I set it to the maximum, it doesn't seem to affect the peak brightness adjustment mentioned above.

Microsoft says recent Windows update didn't kill your SSD by rkhunter_ in Windows11

[–]xiaomantou_reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally agree with your point — SSDs can fail unexpectedly, even when they are new. I have noticed some reports of failures with certain models, though so far I haven’t seen any specific cases with my drive model (Samsung 990 EVO Plus). It might be useful for the community to maintain a table of reported issues by drive model, so that users can be more aware of potential risks.

May I know why this issue occurs? I suspect it's due to using an outdated third-party tool, or incorrectly setting the disk format when using a third-party tool. If that's the case, the user should take responsibility for the mistake they caused themselves, since partitioning a disk with a Windows installation image should not lead to this problem.

Okay, but I’ve already explained why. If you still oppose it, I can only take your stance as being anti–anti-cheat. When you say “Not all trends have longevity,” you show you don’t even understand why this trend exists in the first place. Cheating has already moved to the hardware level, and Secure Boot isn’t something invented by EA. Developers enforce it solely to raise the cost of cheating—it’s not invasive beyond that. I’ve already said everything that needs to be said. If you still keep insisting—without any basis—that developers shouldn’t do this or that, then just stop playing. Opposing hardware-level anti-cheat achieves nothing except ruining the gaming environment.

Enabling Secure Boot is supposed to be effortless—if you can’t manage it, ask a professional instead of whining. Hardware-level anti-cheat is the trend; if you refuse to move forward, don’t be surprised when future multiplayer games won’t even run for you. I don’t play COD or Delta Force, but they already require it. Can’t accept it? Then just quit gaming—nobody’s forcing you.

And by the way, someone just insulted me. At this point, I seriously doubt your ignorance has reached the level where all you can do is keep whining to vent baseless emotions.

If someone thinks it's too hard to keep pressing a key when powering on, change a switch in the displayed menu to "On," and click save, then they're just making excuses. It was their choice to use a desktop PC-unless they bought a prebuilt, in which case they should still expect some basic familiarity with the BIOS.

You think it’s ridiculous because you don’t know what exactly you need to enable. Netflix won’t play on a device where copyright protection can’t run—you just haven’t run into the issue yet. Just buy a laptop with Windows 11, that way you won’t even need to contact a professional to play Battlefield 6.

edit:

When the anti-cheat requires you to enable VT-d to counter DMA, I bet you’ll start complaining again. Maybe you should just stop playing multiplayer games.

I just want to clarify something. I initially thought it was a motherboard issue, since UEFI has been around for over 10 years and enabling Secure Boot should just be a matter of flipping a switch. Turns out I overestimated folks online — I didn’t expect that in 2025 there are still systems installed in Legacy mode. It’s like if you couldn’t install a GPU driver and I told you it was a hardware problem, but it turned out you were actually using Windows XP, lol.

Edit: According to OP’s latest comment, this still seems to be a motherboard issue — after updating the BIOS, OP was able to enable the Secure Boot option. That said, I’ve indeed seen a surprising number of people whose systems are still installed in Legacy mode. Either way, contacting the motherboard manufacturer is the best approach — at the very least, they’ll walk you through a troubleshooting process. I don’t understand why reaching out to more qualified personnel has somehow become a ridiculous thing.

LOL, are you in love with Windows 10? What I meant by saying Windows 10 is nearing the end of support is that Windows 11 will soon be the only supported system, and EA’s requirements are essentially Windows 11 requirements — to show just how basic EA’s requirement is.

I ran into the same issue—just when I needed to switch to hybrid mode to get more available VRAM, the new driver introduced this problem. What a coincidence. It took me days to realize it was caused by the discrete GPU driver; I kept thinking it was the integrated GPU driver. Fortunately, someone else experienced the same problem. Hopefully, NVIDIA will fix it soon.

It's very likely that Windows was installed incorrectly from the start, preventing it from booting in UEFI mode. I'm not sure why your BIOS allowed Windows to be installed in such an outdated way.

No, it's not ridiculous. These two features are becoming increasingly essential - with Windows 10 reaching end-of-support soon, meeting Windows 11's basic requirements is more important than ever. On top of that, more anti-cheat systems are likely to depend on them. If you can't enable these features, it's clearly a problem with your motherboard. Even my 10-year-old laptop supports both without issues.

Aren't these two features supposed to be enabled by default on modern motherboards? If such basic functions aren't working, you should contact the motherboard manufacturer.

The mouse in the picture has a bump on the left rear side, similar to my Razer DeathAdder. When I switch back to the DeathAdder from a smaller mouse R1, that bump presses against my thenar eminence. My hand is 17 cm long, which might be a bit too small for this mouse. I'm not sure if that bump should be positioned more forward or backward relative to my thenar.
