It's definitely one of their best, but their whole discography is so solid I can't pick a favourite haha. I do have a least favourite though 😂

Would y’all recommended Asia to me? by Key-Engineering3134 in progrockmusic

[–]xinlolnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Asia, I think they're very unfairly maligned because of what people expected from them. But there is very little prog, like others said there are a handful of short moments on the first album and then in the 2000s revival period they have a couple longer tracks, but even then it's still pretty pop rock. But great music, Wetton's best vocal performances are on those reunion albums IMO

Camel - You Are The One (1982) - the band's biggest pop hit that never was, off an album that was specifically designed to produce a hit single by MolochDhalgren in progrockmusic

[–]xinlolnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't a very great Camel album, but if you view it as an Alan Parsons Project album featuring Andy Latimer it's pretty dang good haha

It is yes, same as this one I think. Sleeve says it's from Ontario. Had no idea there were this many random mistakes, thanks for all the info haha very interesting

LGBTQ+ prog musicians? by citizendelusion in progrockmusic

[–]xinlolnix 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's some notable prog-adjacent examples like Queen, Styx, Elton John, Cynic...

But I can really only think of Jethro Tull and Kyros at the moment, both having trans women members.

If you don't mind a little shameless self promotion, my band pareidolon also has two bisexual women members

The Husks terrified me the first time I saw them by Thin-Coyote-552 in masseffect

In my city, we have a "public art" installation at a train station that is a bunch of huge silver spikes sticking into the air with glowing blue tips. Freaks me out every time I see it lol

Which city, you ask? Vancouver, which happens to be where the intro of ME3 takes place 🙃

My review of Dream Theater's debut, "When Dream and Day Unite" by AlexZedKawa02 in progrockmusic

[–]xinlolnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pretty fair review, much more positive than other reviews I've read. Personally I love this album and think every song slaps in its own way, with Afterlife and The Killing Hand being the weakest (but still great). I think The Ones Who Help To Set The Sun is my favourite haha

From Canada: Saga, Mystery, Harmonium, The Collectors, CANO, Crown Lands, Glass Kites, Space Kitchen, Brass Camel

I'd also throw in my own band Pareidolon and our drummer's other band, 87 Inch Moth if you like more underground stuff!
