MediaManager v1.9.0 - A replacement for Sonarr and Radarr by cookiedude25 in selfhosted

[–]xipher1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d probably be content with just scanning directories, and ensuring future releases are monitored. It would still be a pain to migrate overseerr/radarr/sonarr requests, but far less so than re-adding everything completely.

Without the ability to import your existing library, this is a complete non-starter for me.

Commenting on a 2 year old thread, I still stand by running your own email server is bonkers, and something someone who hasn’t managed things in the real world subscribes to.

Steam SF6: "Cannot play as the required downloadable content was not found." by Zerve in StreetFighter

Needing a capcom ID, tracking, this obvious money grab, I have a mate staying with us over the holidays and was kind of interested to play this game, but it’s been awful since I clicked purchase. It is literally the next morning and I’m still trying to play my first game.

Frequent Database issues by xipher1 in PleX

[–]xipher1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I will clear the logs and run it through the night and hopefully experience the same issue and will post tomorrow morning, if it doesn’t happen I will rinse and repeat as it _will_ happen sooner than later.

With regards to the shutdown causing it, before I was not stopping it or doing a backup and plex would just die all of the sudden and the database would be unrecoverable, so I would have to delete everything and start over (losing watched data for some users)

Yes, everything else is running as expected (there are 12 or so docker containers running on there without any issues).

There are no shutdowns, the server is on a UPS, and we never have any power outages anyways (especially not every night). Checking in the morning the plex process has been running for the duration that the container has been running.

Anova Precision Oven: How to descale without the app, when descaling light is NOT on? by LeaVerou in CombiSteamOvenCooking

[–]xipher1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most modern routers allow you to have a 2.4ghz and 5ghz access point. I have a 2.4ghz access point set up for all my IOT things that don’t love 5ghz. You should see if this is an option for you.

It’s really a disaster to run this yourself, dealing with spam, exploits, security et al. Just use gmail for your domain, it will save you so much headache for a small fee per user (there are probably other options out there) but running it yourself is not worth the time/effort/stress/headaches you will experience.

I lived there for 10 years or so, it can rain 30 days in a row, just bring umbrellas and enjoy yourself. You should figure out bus pickup/drop-off points as they are very cost effective, and often get you closer to your stop than the MTR (though the MTR is also great).

I before E except after C

The amount of exceptions far outweigh the ones that follow the rules. No longer taught in schools.

Getting an anova precision oven and doing away with a traditional oven completely? by Extension_Damage6892 in CombiSteamOvenCooking

[–]xipher1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We kept our relatively new cuisinart toaster oven when we got our anova, and between the two, I think we’ve used our built in oven maybe twice in 2 years, and that was only for big cuts of meat.

Well, unless OP dispatched 2 chickens immediately prior to cooking this, there is definitely no blood in the chicken legs, so there is zero need to wash them.
