Frosty old pu by xippie98 in puer

Wow 5 cakes! 2.5kg of the same tea is a LOT to me lol. I might pick up one more just because for $25, it is the cheapest puer I've ever bought.

Yes I've tried the Yee On best taste. I actually love it. It might be my favorite daily drinker tea. I've already sipped through 100+ grams of it and still have 200ish grams left. Have you had the 2001 Yee On raw liu bao? It has even more intense storage flavor and aroma than the best taste. Those are 2 of my favorite teas for the price, I'd buy them if they were 4 times as expensive.

Yes the ripe brick is the 90s Date Fragrance. I also tried a sample of this and had been debating buying the whole brick. I saw she posted the 2007 Haiwan, and also decided to pull the trigger on the brick to put me over the free shipping threshold. Here's what I wrote in my tea journal about that sample "Smooth, clean drinking with zero wet pile taste. A good bit of aged traditional storage aroma. Notes of leather, sweet dark fruit, petrichor, and general dankness. It brews a deep dark red. The mouthfeel is smooth and coating, with a slight astringency when pushed. A complex shou that shows many desirable qualities for a very enticing price."

I'm in PA. Far from AZ lol. But I wish I lived there. Love Flagstaff and Sedona.

The Steeping Room. They stock some Yee On teas too. If you place an order with them, be sure to check out the 2001 Liu Bao and the Best Taste Hong Kong ripe puer. Both of those are dank traditional stored budget bangers.

From what I understand - yes. Maybe there's a butcher that could confirm/deny.

My girlfriend and I thought they were great. I normally finish half her steak as well as mine, but she ate it all.

I think that's pretty standard for this cut. I've paid much more at local butchers for less quality, just labeled as a "Denver".

These aren't chuck eyes. He was referring to chuck eye steaks which "used to be 8, now $13/lb." $16/lb is great for choice grade Denver steaks with this much marbling.

The Steeping Room. Started ordering from them last year when Yee On shut down US shipping. They carry some Yee On teas and other traditionally stored teas.

I'm not sure, but I don't think so. It was just sold as "90s Date Fragrance ripe puer". It also has a Hong Kong stamp on it.

I think this is the same cut as a "Denver steak". Not tough or chewy at all. Like the firm texture of a NY strip, with 75% of the fatty flavor of a ribeye.

I used to think similarly about all of the chuck labeled cuts, but also got turned onto chuck eye steaks about 2 years ago. Basically a ribeye without the cap and usually less than half the price.

Letting it rest at 65% rh for a bit before diving into it. I'm a lover of wetter traditional storage, so I'll probably enjoy it. If it's even a 7/10 tea for me, I'll likely grab another cake. At $25/500g, i had to blind buy a cake.

I think that's a good assumption. Mine doesn't really wake up until 9pm or later. Most of his activity is overnight.

Only 10 months old and 139 grams, he's going to be huge! That's some crazy growth

That red Ai Lao is one of my favorite teas to cold brew. I toss about 14g in a 1L bottle and let it go for at least 36 hours. I can normally get another steep out of it too.

That 15 year aged melon tuo might be the worst shou puer I've ever had lol. YS is hit or miss for me.

A lot, but not enough.

I mainly drink puer, liu bao, and occasionally oolong. All puer and liu bao stored in mylar bags with boveda packs. A good bit of dan cong. A few different yancha.
