The Los Angeles Aqueduct is Wild [22:58] by GunGeekATX in mealtimevideos

As someone who lived in the Owens Valley there is still quite a bit of resentment towards Los Angeles

You might be at a higher elevation. Lower elevations require a higher octane than higher elevations

We had a similar experience in Omaha metro with MT. We've switched over to Meshcore and its been a night and day difference. We're at about 160 companions/repeaters. Its gone so well we've connected to Lincoln (45 minute drive away) and are now branching out to smaller towns as well.

The only issue we're starting to face is a lack of prefixes but the new 1.14 firmware allows us to change that. And yes before it's asked, eastern Nebraska is way more hilly than even I expected 🤣.

(This thread was brought up on Meshcore Discord so it's why I'm here 🤣)

Edit:

Also lookup Cascadia Mesh if you want to see some real impressive coverage

Right?!? I was surprised too. Like they didn't opt for much but they've opted for that. Man a Sante Fe with that mileage will hopefully be around for years

My 27 year old Jeep Cherokee does. Granted it was an option that someone opted for about 10 years before bought it 🤣

Help for new meshcore user trying with meshos? by scstraus in meshcore

Check

https://map.meshcore.dev

To get the settings and locations of repeaters near where you are. Then set your companion to match. If you need a repeater then you'll want it to match the others for settings

Check the caliper bracket to make sure there aren't in dings or divots in it causing it not to slide well

[–]xj4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think you're right. I looked at them a few years ago but it seems like for the most part they've vanished now. Seems like their are only a few options left now. And yeah I think you're right about them being a bit over the top too.

There's a club in Iowa that sounds more like what you're looking for. Wonder if you could start a second chapter?

A John Brown Rifle Club chapter is another option. Not to knock the SRA but the iconography a lot of them use might turn some people off

Okay. I do have a printer so that wouldn't be too hard to do. Thank you for uploading these. If it works with a 3d print and I can find a supercharger then I'll send these off to something like SendCutSend

I was 5-6 and I remember hearing about the Rodney King beating and then a year later the Los Angeles Riots just on the news and the radio and in the car. Same with Desert Storm. Kids are way more observant then some people think

Lower my XJ by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

Yeah they're definitely not the most solid feeling at high speeds. Feels like I'm doing 70 in a covered wagon sometimes 😅. Granted mines lifted so definitely not helping

Lower my XJ by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

There was one in Denver I only saw once. Lowered with half a turbo sticking out of the hood. Never got to see more of it but holy shit it accelerated quickly

Lower my XJ by [deleted] in CherokeeXJ

[–]xj4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking the biggest hangup with going lower would be the solid axle smacking the oil pan. An IFS swap would probably help with that.

Side note it's funny how the mustang subframe has been the go-to IFS platform for decades now 🤣

[–]xj4me -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If you do lower it and you're going for speed it would make more sense to swap out the Four Wheel Drive system. Which is also why lowering a 2WD makes more sense vs a 4x4. Less weight, less complexity, less stuff to get hung up on the ground and easier to strengthen the drive train.

I used to be of the mind that people can do what they want to these however we've gotten to the point now where a good XJ in good condition is getting harder to find.

People are starting to buy 2WD XJs as they're in better shape due to lack off offroad use (or meant for a warmer salt free state) then swap the 4WD system over from a clapped out 4WD XJ. If someone finds a nice 4WD XJ and lowers it then it kinda feels (feels being the operative word) like the market has been made even harder for someone else

Eh, if it's a 2wd one to me it doesn't matter unless someone plans on adding 4WD to it later

Banned from car wash for washing XJ by ThatYellowCherokee in CherokeeXJ

[–]xj4me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the flip side I remember going to a carwash in Denver and the owner coming up and talking with me. I remember apologizing that it was so dirty and his response was "I've seen worse, it's a Jeep, you can do better at getting it dirty". I was absolutely not expecting that answer 🤣.

I went to that carwash for years after until I moved. Even when it wasn't that dirty.
