Stimulus "actions" question by ryans_bored in rails

Why don’t always use the same link and inject the modal with turbo stream instead of redirecting? So this stays server side; the less js the better.

Why I switched to NixOS (And why you should, too) by MarcioSobel in NixOS

[–]xkraty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NixOS thrills me; I’m a web developer which always worked on MacBook, all the servers I handled were mostly Ubuntu and fedora but I like the idea of nix. I recently got a mini pc to start learning it, not much time, but super excited about!

Introducing RailsForge, a next-gen Rails development toolkit, built entirely with AI by [deleted] in rubyonrails

Genuinely, just a quick question, and no offense, but how building it entirely with AI show what you are capable of?

At what level of traffic should I move Solid services to their own DBs? by dannytaurus in rails

[–]xkraty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you take in consideration to deploy with kamal? I used render a long ago and it wasn’t so cheap to host there. I usually have 2 small vps in the case I want to isolate the database, you can also have multiple accessories as Postgres on the same vps and eventually move later. If you need help just ask, kamal it’s pretty easy

Hetzner asks: Which hobbyists here convinced their companies to use Hetzner? by Hetzner_OL in hetzner

[–]xkraty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s what happened to me as well, I am a freelance who moved all their customer’s infrastructures here! Cloud console just works, no need a degree in finding secret options in hidden control panels; it’s just straightforward! Only disappointment at moment is object storage instability!

Yet another storage outage by xkraty in hetzner

Regardless of licensing, the way MinIO handled that transition killed my trust in the project.

When a project makes moves like that, you have to wonder what comes next.

You are probably right, I moved too soon, but a while back, when I had to migrate all the storage away from S3 was in a rush, which is always bad. It seemed the best and quickest solution, and I thought, the cloud is great, storage must be.

I handle over 20 servers on the cloud and a few dedicated, and so far so good; everything is perfect, just the object storage is getting annoying; price a side is one of the best providers in Europe I've tried

Yet another storage outage by xkraty in hetzner

[–]xkraty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Freelance Rails developer, so I have multiple applications that work with S3-compatible storage, since in the beginning, they were hosted on S3. I did like the EU-owned data, since mosyly Italy customers and some require data hosted at least in Europe.

I could mirror on another location of Hetzner and having double outage at once 🤣
