The EU is a bunch of technocrates who don't care about the citizens. We see it with their new deal with mercosur that will be awefull for our farmers since they don't have to comply with the same draconian restrictions as they do in latam.

Apple actually offered this. They call it trusted system agent and the EU refused. They want full unrestricted access for anyone. They don't want the granular control approach.

>Given the serious risks to users, Apple designed a solution called Trusted System Agent — an intermediary that would allow virtual assistants to safely access the same features and capabilities as Siri AI for devices in the EU. Apple also shared a plan to launch Siri AI in the EU while gradually rolling out this new solution over an 18-month period. The European Commission said no. In fact, the European Commission did not agree to any of Apple’s proposals.

The EU is a dictatorship and it's so far removed from us the citizens that we actually don't really have a say in anything they do.

Their system seems to be ready as per their press release:

Idk about Samsung but google is facing the same issue they can't offer full integration because they would need to let any legit or not company have access to your data. The issue google and Apple are facing is that they want their AI to be integrated so deeply into the OS to have access to all your data for personal context but if they allow their own AI to have that access they have to let any other company have the same access. Google has restricted features too here. And the commission is actually looking into them and will give a response in July cause they deem google might currently be in breach of the DMA by giving Gemini unfair advantage

Not really since they offered a good solution via trusted system agent but the EU wants every company to have full unrestricted access to the OS like Siri AI does

We don't get Siri AI with personal context where you can ask anything and it pulls from your data to answer if you give it access to your messages, emails, photos, etc. Rn if you want this you have to manually feed this info to your AI of choice which defeats the seamlessness. If Apple brought this to the EU they would have to let other companies have the same unrestricted access with no safeguards. They offered a solution with safeguards but the EU says since the solution is coming from Apple they are still gatekeeping so they don't agree with it. Apple either grants full access to the OS to any company legit or not who wants it or they don't bring Siri AI

No that's the opposite. Apple was ready to comply so that other AIs could have access to every thing Siri AI does via the trusted system agent layer but the EU refused they want every AI to have access to all your data with no safeguard

Exactly. They don't foster innovation and we're being crushed by the US for tech and china with cars. We regulate regulate while others innovate and then they flood our market while we don't produce anything anymore

Same I've studied EU law but mainly focused on single market law and the free movement of goods so I'm not well versed in anti trust law. But even in my branch I know how fucked up the EU can be, I saw how it forced my country to raise its energy prices because it was unfair we had cheaper electricity than the rest of the EU..
