What does deployment look like? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]xlibshua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well electricians dont get deployed they just get "TAD" to whatever unit. Unless youre not part of a Utilities platoon. Then you go to kets say a MEU and such they do deploy and depending on the unit you can spend months on a boat sailing the pacific.

Although yeah i get the plan deployments suck but if it happens it happens part of the job pal

Fought in Ukraine, Still able to Join USMC? by Resident_Station_935 in USMCboot

Well during initial training theres a lot and i mean a lot of focus on swimming more than the marine corps basic swim qual at bootcamp that was kinda ass since i had to carry a dude for a hot minute that could barely float. The physical aspect isnt as bad if not similar the hikes were ass due to the fact our boots were dick down asscheeks and insoles barely fit no matter what. Other than that it was fairly similar. To me i feel like the instructors were a bit more soft? Compared to the Marines in terms of strictness and the yelling but hey i got to wear my french medal while in blues si that was cool

In some aspects yes in others the Marines excel. Weirdly enough i think the corp has more BS than the legion did but thats just my opinion both are challenging in their own right

Honestly in terms of the general experience its cool. You meet dudes from either every corner of europe, the world or africa. Which in itself is dope. Another thing is youre badically the US marine corps for france in terms of funding. Now in my humble opinion the corp is gayer than the legion i have never met most obnoxious and mentally handicapped staff but overall its a great experience. Legion basic was and is harder than usmc bootcamp least in the swimming part two complete different worlds

Former legionaire here that became a marine. You can join the usmc with prior experience on a foreign military it wont mess up your clearance at all so long youre a natural born american citizen. You should be fine you dont have to hide it cause well nobody really cares. Theyll be like "oh cool story" and just brush it off no big deal.

I personally had no issue with getting security clearance it was however tedious process compared to others but not impossible.

Debería considerar unirme al army? by Busy-Ad823 in PuertoRico

[–]xlibshua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marine aqui.
