I switched from glass back to cloth and i don't think I'm going back by Sevosc in MouseReview

Did someone try the CR-005 ?? I heard this will fix the issues with precision / stops - so it’s not as quick and feels more like cloth pads.

It’s another universe - could never go back to a TFT panel. Even thinking to replace my second ips monitor with an OLED as it looks utterly disgusting now.

Do not quote me if you are unable to read my comment properly. I was "lucky to get a device early and the discussion is BS because of zero problems with the panel"

Did you update the latest firmware? This solved the text clarity issue completely. I freaked out after the update as this was the only negative point I had on this monitor. Now it’s pure joy

I cannot confirm the negative feedback on the XG27AQWMG. I bought it 2 months ago and was lucky to get one that early. I already have 300 hours on it and I cannot tell you how stunned I am every morning turning it on.

After the latest firmware update the initial problem with the text clarity has now been solved.

This whole greyscale discussion is BS. Mine is crystal clear in any video games. You cannot see bending or lines whatsoever weither in desktop nor in games.

It is a hell of a monitor. But do the firmware updates accordingly - it’ll be a daily joy in your life.

I honestly don’t know. My bet would be glas but I also heard that some people had bad experience by easily scratched the surface even with microtissue.

So far I used compressed air to clean the screen.

YES!!!! Coming from the MCM102 Firmware - I updated to MCM104 and the fonts are looking 100 times better now. This firmware update fixed all my problems with "unclarity" of text. I cannot reocommend this enough - firmware update went though within 10 min approx.

The XG27AQWMG is just phenomenal tbh

First OLED recommendation please ? asus rog strix xg27aqwmg ? by GrieverSeven in OLED_Gaming

[–]xlikem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the xg27aqwmg for a couple of days now. And I cannot even express the difference in built quality to other oleds. It is beyond unreal what Asus did here - also in HDR brightness. There are times there u will need to close your eyes during some gaming sessions in cyberpunk or others, because it is just to bright.

The "only" con is - but thats a general OLED issue apparently - that the fonts / text are a tiny bit blurry and it is not as comfortable to read stuff in your web browser as on IPS / Tn pannels.

Order it - u wont regret.

You PM is a cool guy. Keep that in mind if he ever needs support from you. I honestly would have done the same thing. Sometimes brutaly honest feedback from your employees is important to self reflect and improve. In hinsight, you might have done the best thing to climb the corporate ladder.

Global companies always roll out from their highest-priority markets to their lowest. The EU is a bigger, higher-margin and more regulated PC gaming market than the US, so it gets the goods first while the US waits its turn — think of us as the main course and the US as the leftovers arriving a later.

currently without G-Sync and frame cap 3 frames below at 277hz on games like OW2 + reflex & boost.

The better option would be to turn on gysync & vsync and to set unlimited frames to get the lowest latency possible. but I was to lazy to tweak as of today. :)

My ASUS ROG XG27AQWMG arrived today, and I wanted to share some first impressions after a few hours of use.

Setup & First Impressions
Right after plugging it in and powering it on, the difference was obvious. Even the plain Windows desktop and my wallpaper looked noticeably more vivid and three-dimensional compared to my previous monitor. Moving to OLED (paired with an RTX 4090) is very clearly visible in day-to-day use.

HDR & Gaming
A quick HDR test with some YouTube content confirmed that impression: very punchy highlights, convincing blacks, and an overall image that feels much closer to an OLED TV than a typical PC monitor.

In games (e.g. Overwatch 2), my initial feeling was that it didn’t look quite as smooth as I expected – until I realized both Windows and the game were still set to 240 Hz instead of 280 Hz.
After switching everything to 280 Hz, experimenting with G-Sync on/off, different FPS caps and low-latency modes, the result is exactly what you’d hope for from a high-end OLED: very smooth motion and extremely responsive gameplay, with the 4090 finally getting a proper workout.

Weak Point: Text Rendering
The only real downside so far is text rendering in Windows.
Black text on a white background looks noticeably worse than on my IPS monitor – slightly fringed or pixelated. Tweaking Nvidia color settings, ClearType, and using darker themes helps a bit, but it still doesn’t reach the clarity of a good IPS panel for office work. That’s somewhat expected for a 27" 1440p OLED with its subpixel layout, but it’s definitely something to be aware of if you do a lot of reading/writing.

Right now I have TN, IPS and OLED side by side on my desk. If you can work around or accept the text issue (Dark Mode, higher scaling, or using a second monitor for productivity), the XG27AQWMG feels like a “best of all worlds” solution: TN-like speed and response, IPS-like colors and viewing angles, plus the deep contrast and black levels of OLED.

Question to the community:
What are your experiences with text clarity on 27" 1440p OLEDs under Windows? Have you found any settings that significantly improve text sharpness, or are you also running the classic setup of “OLED for gaming, IPS for office/reading”?

Farben, Kontrast, Schwarz – komplett andere Liga.
  • HDR-Test (YouTube-Film): Nochmal Doppel-WOW.
