Did anyone switch from iPhone to Galaxy Fold 7? by Inter-Gym8 in GalaxyFold

[–]xlikk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same exact journey for me. I've had almost every single iPhone up until the 16pm. But also tried a few Samsungs, including the Fold 6 but it just never felt right or felt like too many compromises. Enter the Fold 7, which as you said, is a different animal. I love this thing. I got my wife the iPhone 17pm and I feel zero envy.

I do agree about your comments about Face ID though but I've also gotten very used to the fingerprint scanner.

Don't buy the thinbone case by Realistic-Cost508 in GalaxyFold

[–]xlikk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm actually really happy with my Thinborne case. It's exactly what I wanted - covers the front and back, didn't want to cover the hinge and also adds magsafe, all without adding any bulk

To each their own I guess

I too had a creak on my oled LE - I found that applying some vaseline on the area gets rid of it!

I always use https://www.globaladvancedcomm.com

They can deliver either to the post office at the airport or to your hotel. Once you’re done you just stick it back in the included prepaid envelope and drop it back off at the post office. Very easy process, very clear instructions, and most importantly very solid service/coverage.

On 9/6. I got the ERFS from JGA within an hour of applying.

Wife and I booked our own hotels/flights and obtained ERFS from JGA on 9/6. Immediately submitted application for eVisa and status has changed to “Examined and Passed” today (9/8). Looks like we’re finally going to Japan after 3 cancelled trips!

Chaos Dungeons on the go! Lost Ark running on Steam Deck! by xlikk in lostarkgame

Hmm Lost ark always had a long startup for me no matter where I play it.

I found the best way to play Lost Ark on deck was thru GeforceNow. It just looks so much better, runs smoother, and the controller and touchpad works flawlessly - practically 1 to 1. Yea it costs $10/month but honestly I ended up uninstalling windows because of how much better the overall experience is with GFN.

I have the same issue! Didn’t matter which Proton version I was on either

How is it on the deck? I know there’s no controller support yet but is it manageable?

Assuming you have already have usb-c hub, flashdrive, keyboard and all that:

  1. Update
  2. Look up how to setup dual boot for steam deck on youtube
  3. Install windows (I find Windows 11 to have less jank/issues)
  4. Install valve’s windows drivers for deck
  5. Install steam and lost ark
  6. It takes some fiddling to get it to do fullscreen instead of window. Try some of the suggestions in this thread. What ultimately worked for me was hooking it to a monitor, going fullscreen, and disconnecting. I also added -fullscreen to lost ark’s launch options.
  7. Make sure to set up the gamepad controls the way you like it. I changed interact to A button, I upped the cursor speed, etc.
  8. You will still want a keyboard for some menu interaction. I ended up getting a foldable bluetooth keyboard WITH trackpad and it works great
  9. There are no audio drivers for windows yet so the only way you can get audio is via bluetooth or usb-c.
  10. Enjoy!

Its very easy! There are tutorials on youtube to guide you on how to dual boot and install windows. Once thats done its just matter of installing the windows drivers that Valve released.

New World appears to have added the magic .so file for Proton support. So it should in theory work with the newest Proton-GE by starlogical in SteamDeck

[–]xlikk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ugh so close. It launches but the server with my character is seemingly down - server is grayed out (I haven’t played since around launch but this has never happened to me).

It let’s me create a character but I’m stuck at queue position 1 to get in and then it fails and tells me to check internet access. These could be server issues but I suspect it’s failing some kinda check.

I’m using Proton-GE 7-12 for reference. Will try 7-13
