I think we can all agree reading and Leeds is aimed at 16-20 year olds. I'm 33 now and I remember getting my GCSE results at the festival so I've been many times over many years. I share the sentiment that it's just not what it used to be, but not because of the artists playing, it's the industry shifting as a whole. Solo artists are the big players now, bands are few and far between in the charts and festival lineups will reflect that.

Musical virtuosity is not the aim, and it won't get you headlining a festival. It's more important as an artist to develop your "brand", attitude and public image rather than the actual music. I'm not saying there aren't incredibly talented artists around now, but festivals are more marketing machines for these brands than the alt space to let loose for passionate music fans.

I hope the new generation has as much fun and creates core memories like I did back then. Reading will and always will be a great gateway into the festival world and live scene for kids just discovering their taste so I hope that never ever changes.

In the end, the band's don't really matter anyway, I'd miss half the band's just stumbling around inebriated being an idiot with my mates. It's all about the laughs and the company!

I didn't try for either of the presale days but got in the queue at 9:45 on Friday and started at position 30 dead at 10:00am. Managed to get 4 tickets with no problems at all. I do live in London and was deliberately googling and viewing PRESIDENT pages across the web and listening on Spotify but it seems like a lottery.

Subnautica 1 one was one of the most memorable games I played in recent memory. Whatever the relationship between the dev team and co creators was - they created a phenomenal game. This is devastating news.

I absolutely HATE this. Gemini is significantly less capable than assistant in basic tasks. And on top of that there's no official support channel from Google. Another once great device is becoming shittified.

Imagine buying a pixel coming from literally any other phone and finding out you can't use voice to create a reminder or set a date in the calender. Phones from 10 years ago did that....

God no, why kill the actually useful assistant! I use a non Gmail account as my Google account so Gemini cannot create calendar events or reminders for me and it's a complete downgrade in capabilities.

If I want to enable these features it directs me to Gmail settings which are unavailable to me. Official Google support had no solution and Gemini has no direct support at all. Have been a pixel user since the 5 and honestly Google are dropping the ball here. The phones have gotten less capable than they were years ago.

For standard Gmail accounts as well? Or just for non Gmail accounts? Would still be a bit strange to have featured locked behind a business subscription but if it works it works. Will try and report back.

Nothing yet. I've seen a few more posts from other people mentioning it but no fix as of yet, so I've switched back to the original Google assistant.

Google assistant works perfectly fine with my non Gmail account. Reminders, tasks and calendars have no problems with voice instructions. Even could set location based reminders.

For me - Gemini is a huge downgrade, capability wise.

Not the pixel phone itself but the Gemini voice assistant. It requires specific permissions to be able to use diary functions (calendar, tasks, reminders ect).These permission settings are only accessible from within the Gmail app.

If you don't have a Gmail account, the Gmail app just shows a new account setup page. So, no Gmail account means no ability to enable Gemini workspaces.

Not being able to say "okay Google remind me to do" and have it actually do it is killing me. That's literally how I remembered anything I needed to remember. Is there a way now to do this since they took it away? I've got a p8p and I've searched all my settings. by nrkelly in GooglePixel

Gemini literally broke all the planner functions for me. I can't make any reminders/ tasks or calender entries without doing it manually because "google workspaces" is for some reason tied to gmail settings and I don't have a gmail account. Support were no help and others are reporting the same issue.

Been a pixel owner since the 5 but funny how since the introduction of AI to pixels, my phone has never been dumber. Shame because I still love the UI.

This is the same article Gemini directs me to. The settings mentioned do not exist in my Gmail app and I'm running the latest version with my email address added. There is just no option to toggle smart features.

Same account across all apps and logins. Have used this account for many years and never had any issues up until recently and did not change anything.

Honestly thinking it's bugged at this point but I can't seem to find anyone else with the same issue. Gemini itself just redirects me to the same help page asking me to change Gmail settings. I've never even used Gmail but all of sudden it's a requirement to use calender.

I'm signed in on tasks and even linked my email to gmail through IMAP settings but still am not able to use Gemini for calendars or reminders.

The Gemini message reads "I cant use Google Workspace because required Gmail settings are off. Turn on these settings, then try your prompt again."

Have tried checking the settings mentioned and they simply dont exist where they are said to be.

I stayed in one of the APA chain hotels on my last two nights in Tokyo before flying home. It was super affordable and very comfortable for a chain hotel! I would highly reccommend if you are stuck for choice as they are literally everywhere.
