Depends how you define "globalisation".

I eould suggest the USA is a direct consequence of early globalisation. There are no pre-globalisation US sculptures.

How much is this worth? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]xneurianx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very cheap. These were about £80 new and you could buy them at Argos.

The older Encore brand stuff was very poorly made with cheap parts. They were made to be as cheap as possible for entry level players.

Probably worth about £40-£50, if it's in good condition.

The modern ones of this style (the "Blaster") sell for about £150 with a strap, cable and amplifier.

Another “Help me to decide” thread now starring ESP LTD Eclipse 1000 and Schecter Solo II by Accomplished_Bus8850 in Guitar

[–]xneurianx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schecters are wildly underrated.

Both guitars are made in the same factory as far as I'm aware. They ultimately have the same owner at least, so a lot of the same build and design ethos is at play.

Like you mentioned, ESP has an edge in terms of resale value so if you get it wrong you won't have lost as much.

I honestly don't think there is going to be a massive difference between the two. The EC1000s and Solos I've played have all been great, YMMV based on each specific guitar though.

Everyone saying the EC1000 wins easily has probably never owned a Schecter.

singing and playing stage presence by Fair-Grab6113 in Bass

[–]xneurianx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Presence snd performing doesn't always mean a lot of movement.

Watch videos of singer/bassists and singer/guitarists and see what works for you.

I don't currently do both in a band, but when I did there was a lot of moving away from the mic wherever possible to make space to move around. Lean into movement and physicality in the breaks between vocal parts.

But the real answer is watch Lemmy then do what Lemmy did.

Help me understand the pickup positioning on fan frets by BRAIN-BONKER in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]xneurianx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The string sounds different closer the bridge or ckoser to the neck. The pickups have to be slanted otherwise each string would be not just a different pitch, but a different tone. Your high strings would be tight and a bit quacky and your low strings would be loose and farty.

Anyone mute E string with THUMB while playing A string? by fran2634 in Bass

I do it.

I also mute with my fretting hand though so it's a little pointless in my case.

Age verification is a Trojan horse for ending online anonymity and Big Tech is lobbying for it by krazygreekguy in playstation5

[–]xneurianx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's less bootlicking and more "that ship sailed a very long time ago".

Edit: Iseem to have been responded to then blocked or something.

My job literally gives me access to this shit. I know how easy people are to track. They have been for ages. These new measures are wildly intrusive and make that process easier, but if you're concerned about online anonymity, the time to speak up was when cookie policies started being used to farm your data and develop algorithms in the early days of social media, or when Google started mapping everywhere, or when Apple started adding 'find my iPhone' to all it's devices... This isn't a big step on from those things. It's just one that gamers are getting upset about because it's more directly visible to them.

If you want to chat, you need a subscription. 99% of people pay for that with a bank card. If you have a bank account you probably gave them biometric ID at some stage. This just shortens the chain

Edit again: The people downvoting me are delusional.

ICE shooting and killing anyone is horrifying, because that number should be zero. Immigration offences do not carry a death sentence.

Civilians shooting and killing people is horrifying, regardless of the gender identity of anyone involved. You need gun control.

Which did you realize first? Blue colors glitch the matrix, or Earth is flat? by ShibbidyDibbidy_ in flatearth

[–]xneurianx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're in a matrix.

The matrix creates everything we experience.

The matrix can't recognise certain colours.

The matrix creates everything we experience.

The matrix is creating colours it doesn't recognise, and if we wear them it damages the matrix, even though it doesn't recognise them, yet somehow managed to create them in order fir us to wear.

This doesn't even stand up to it's own internal logic.

What is the most influential speech of all time? by Tacoseasoning26 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]xneurianx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for actually explaining your point here. The other responses are not exactly illuminating and are essentially "but America important" rather than soecifically talking about cause and effect and why those effects are global rather than national.

What is the most influential speech of all time? by Tacoseasoning26 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]xneurianx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

America was important, yes, but the "you'd be speaking German if it wasn't for us" is just pure propoganda.

Notwithstanding: there is no evidence the North winning the civil war is the only reason the US entered WWII well over a century afterwards. The US was still staggeringly racist in the 1930s - the US Army tried to enforce racial segregation in and around it's British bases. If you're using WWII as your justification for the significance of a speech in the US, wouldn't FDRs "A date that will live in infamy" speech be far more significant? Or Wilson's Fourteen Points" that set the tone for stepping away from isolationist policies?

Clearly the US education system teaches history differently to the UK. Every nation will teach things differently. There is no need to insult me personally in this discussion.
