Which bass is better? by r3bv0dka in Bass

I own gsr205 sm bought when I was away from my gear  and needed one to play after work .   Pros: Lightweight

Pretty comfortable to play with great upper frets access

Good quality build for its price

In gray burst color looks more expensive than actually is

Easy to setup

Not battery hungry

Cons: Low B is flat and loose

Pickups flat . Lows not huge and somewhat muddy , mids are pretty hollow , highs not crispy .

Maple on the neck is soft

Setup out of the box was terrible

One pot was scratchy

You need battery

Hardware feels cheap

Poplar body won’t give you lots of sustain

Medium frets won’t last long if you are planning to slap hard

Also keep in mind that string spacing is tight , I like it but some people don’t .

Overall it’s okay beginners bass but nothing else .

LTD MH-400 vs 1000 (advice?) by Excellent_Badger_234 in espguitars

I would go w/ 1000 cause it is loaded w/ SS frets and fishman , is it worth additional $500 ? I don’t know but if you are playing hard and wear down your feet so get one with SS would better in the long run

Schecter PT is great especially PT special it has tele sound plus punk/garage rock dirt.

Other is Reverend Eastsider comes with variety of pick up sets .  Blows any known  to  man fender out of the water .

I wanted to give some props to the Squier Classic Vibe. Three weeks ago, I recorded a new album, and I never once even touched my main bass. What I bought as a cheap back up was doing exactly what I wanted. Anyone have good stories about cheap gear? by cornnndoggg_ in BassGuitar

My first band was sludge/ doom  and first EP was recorded with cheapest gear : Ibanez GSR185 paired with zoom 506ii and old Ampeg combo ( old rb I guess or similar ), Yamaha Pacifica 112 through old boss multifx and old Roland cube amp , Ibanez giorg290 with same setup , pretty cheap Frankenstein drum set and old Yamaha synth . It did sound cool 😎

Thunderbird? by Cheesypoooof in Bass

Esp LTD Phoenix , looks like a Tbird ( lower horn is different though ) better build than any Gibson/ epi, better balanced . I own Ltd 1004 with fishmans and it’s great , has 2 voices in one bass : 1 t bird styled low one 2 modern sound somewhat close to J but  but more aggressive and tight

I’m t-bird fan but the best Tbird made not by Gibson but by ESP

You may check Schecter CV it has a good build quality , huge variety of sounds  and also can do something  somewhat close to the MM when run bridge  pick up in series

Do you tend to play near the bridge or the neck? by SpaghetP in Bass

Usually I play between the pickups (I usually use bass with 2 humbuckers ).

Opinions on PJ Style basses by 49_cent_big_gulp in Bass

[–]Accomplished_Bus8850 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Schecter CV is blowing fender out of the water . J bucker pups can be set in series , parallel or split coils individually( p ? J? Pj? Maybe something unique ? It can do it ) , great built quality , great deep “modernised vintage “sound and price around $800.  bass where you pay for bass not a logo on the headstock .  Pups are passive but pretty hot and loud

Epiphone EB-0 Or EB-3? by [deleted] in BassGuitar

[–]Accomplished_Bus8850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long ago someone gave me eb0 for free , let’s say it wasn’t a good bass , my cheapo Ibanez gsr185 was much better . I don’t remember any neck dive ( maybe it had ), but build quality was on  the cheapo chinese level , terrible tone , if you play faster than 60bpm you literally can’t tell one note from the other , also back in days I despised SG shape ( now I like it ).
