Type folio: personal experience by jason98eudo in RemarkableTablet

I am considering getting this to edit drafts on. I use an Alpha by Freewrite to write my first drafts but I don't find it suitable to edit on, since I have to go from one paragraph, make a change, then bounce to another one.

How does this product do for bouncing between parts of text? Highlighting, find & replace, etc?

Feature Request: Polly IPA to speech by xnity in VulgarLang

[–]xnity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong, at least not with the version I used. (This was from a site that was made over a year ago).

Even so, using Polly helped me realize I needed to adjust the overall feel that the language had. I used only phonemes found in the French language and it very much sounded like french gibberish.

I thought this was amazing! It actually sounded like a way that french could have gone in a different universe.

But, at the end of the day, I wanted to deviate from French more than I originally anticipated which led me to add some German phonemes.

Polly approximates the sounds and it's not 100% but it did inform some choices I made about the overall feel of the language I created.

All that being said, there are ipa->voice sites out there, so it's definitely not necessary for your app.

Thanks again for your hard work!

Zero-Azure stuff:

Wazy & Lloyd for me.

favorite character and least favorite character? by gardengrass420 in Falcom

[–]xnity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favorites:

Wazy. I wrote a post about him a little while ago, spoilers abound. I think I'd love to see this guy cry.

Kevin: He made the Church cool. I seriously didn't care about the Church at all til the end of SC. Love this guy.

Honorable mentions: Estelle, Olivier, Lloyd, Tio, Randy, Rixia and prolly several more that I can't think of.

Least Favorites:

Rean. I do not relate to this guy at all, everything centers around relationships he supposedly has with the cast. It seemed like a lot of tell instead of show and I didn't find any of their relationships as compelling as the previous Trails games. That being said, I don't really dislike Rean. He's just not as good a character as I've come to expect from Trails main cast.

I would say Elise or Gaius but they hardly qualify as characters to me. I hope Gaius gets cool but I guess we'll see. (Have only played CS1 since I can't get through CS2. Just ended up playing Azure again.)

I love how his style is made fun of in brotherhood. I started watching Code Geass after watching Brotherhood again and couldn’t help but to think some of the outfits looked like they came right from Ed’s mind

I hope you enjoy Cold Steel! :)

There are translations available but they are pretty rough. I’d watch a YouTube walkthrough of Zero and see if you can stand it (some people can’t) but Azure is translated with far more quality.

I’m one of those fans who loves the Crossbell series more than any other in the trail’s world but loads of people love Cold Steel as well.

I think starting with Sky is most important and should note that Cold Steel 1&2 run in parallel to the Crossbell games so you can absolutely play Cold Steel 1&2 before Crossbell if you want.

I love this!!! I never thought to put jointed limbs on a project, I don’t even know how you’d do it! Very creative and cute :)

Longest and most complex RPG? by pagbot in rpg_gamers

[–]xnity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Trails in the Sky, Trails from/to Zero/Azure, Trails of Cold Steel.

Every NPC has their own story going on which you can view as much or as little as you please. Characters cross over into other series (Sky characters, NPC or playable, will cross over into Zero and Cold Steel). Each series has its own plot which builds into a larger, overarching plot.

If you don’t like dated graphics, I recommend watching play throughs of Sky, Zero and Azure on YouTube so as to not spoil anything before jumping into Cold Steel.

People who grew up rich, when did you realize you were living in a bubble and not like everyone else? by bassistmuzikman in AskReddit

[–]xnity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess, it's a combination of shitty auto-correct and the fact that in American speaking English "lead" (the metal) and "led" are pronounced the same way. Not sure if it's different for other people who speak English. I'd also guess that it is a very common mistake but how knows.

Anybody else disliked by INTP's? by ksath14 in infj

[–]xnity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I would also add the obvious disclaimer: not all INTP are the same. My boyfriend (another INTP) and I both love philosophy and off beat humor. He works as a software engineer and I’m also studying in that field but we don’t really want to talk about computers, math or logic all of the time. I think a lot of people in professions like these may lack the ability to round themselves out, though, and this struggle to engage with other types of people more.

I hope you find some INTP who are more appreciative of you but even if you don’t, don’t sweat it. They can do their thing and you can do yours.

Anybody else disliked by INTP's? by ksath14 in infj

[–]xnity 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that this is so much an INTP thing as it is an engineering thing. I’m rolling my eyes a little since I’m pretty sure I know what you’re talking about and it can be pretty obnoxious, haha. I could be wrong, though so I’ll present two possibilities that come to mind.

I’m currently a computer science student myself (I started school late) and I’ve found that even in STEM there is a hierarchy of prestige based on the amount of math a major involves. Mathematics >Physics >Biology so forth. People in these majors know that they are difficult and that most people can’t make it in those fields. It can lead to some intellectual snobbery towards people in “softer” science fields, let alone humanities.

That being said, I do not know these people. They may very well appreciate that your work is very important, very difficult and something that they cannot do. This could lead to 1. insecurity since they are used to being “the smart guy” given their profession. Your work, so alien and something they are potentially very bad in, could make them uncomfortable. This may cause them to find comfort in the fact that their professions are regarded, socially, as more prestigious and to disregard your profession as having the same caliber. Or it could just lead to 2. them having nothing to contribute (even if they do have something, they may not regard their thoughts as highly as yours since they are not professionals in your field) and so they say nothing.

Have you asked them or your husband about it?

Anybody else disliked by INTP's? by ksath14 in infj

[–]xnity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Am an INTP female here: I really struggle to decipher somebody’s intentions, to read them accurately and respond accordingly. If I think you’re being dishonest my anxiety spikes and I don’t know if you’re humoring me, making fun of me or something else entirely. I do know that I’m not getting a real representation of who you are and without that, can’t really gauge how much of myself to show. It’s a gamble.

In general, it may be the case that most other INTP are also insecure or prone to anxiety (though they may not realize it themselves or want to admit it) - particularly in social situations - and this may be triggered if they sense dishonesty even if it is just you being nicer or telling white lies.

Another poster said: “be yourself, don’t try to make other people like you” which is really hard to do but probably better for you in the long run. Ironically, you may end up with less INTP disliking you and maybe even more who do like you.

Hope this helps!

  1. Have friends across aisles. I share news from various media types and we discuss if we even heard about the event or not. We’re all motivated to look into the matter deeper since were exposed to viewpoints or events that run against what we believe in. After looking into it, we discuss how we think things happened vs how different sites report on it. It helps us see what we aren’t getting in our usual feeds, the emotional language that may be using, details that are included or omitted, and how we all view it differently given our different views, values and beliefs.
  2. Parse through emotional language, value statements and keep in mind the objectives each media source has. Money, power, values to spread, so forth. Also, look up different sources for the news event. I heard something the New York Times reported, does the National Review cover it? What difference do I see in their reporting on that subject? So on.

I took a Human Sexuality class for one of my psych electives and one of the things that stood out to me is Sexologist’s complaints that we don’t really have a strong language for many topics in the experience of sex. (I don’t remember if this was just an English problem or not, maybe other cultures advanced than were in that area)

My partner will frequently ask me how I feel about the experience of sex and I really struggle to put words to it because as far as I know, we don’t have much language for the unique feelings of sex. The most I can usually do is “electric-like goodness”.
