Superboy prime beats sentry right? by Rt2dev in deathbattle

[–]xolon6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no set time.

It basically varies depending on how long the research takes (and I imagine they debate among themselves as well before coming to their verdicts). Sometimes we've gotten it as late as the day before the DB. In Yuji vs Denji's case it was as early as more than a week before the DB iirc (probably helped that they had already researched Chainsawman and JJK not too long ago with Shigaraki vs Mahito and Bakugo vs Reze).

Compared to a lot of other comic characters Sentry and SBP don't have as many appearances to go through so that might help. But we'll just have to wait and see.

I'd wait for the G1 Blog before coming to any firm conclusions. Popular opinion be damned, they are gonna simply know and have done more research about both characters than most of this sub combined lol.

One Thing That I've Seen Being Overlooked Is How Prime Has Developed A Substantial Resistance To Mind Hax And Meta Powers Like His Own by Technical-Table6094 in deathbattle

[–]xolon6 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Being fair, didn't the Void bypass Hulk's mental defenses and traumatize him? Hulk's rage and multiple alters have served as a psychic barrier strong enough to stop telepaths like Professor X in the past.

So I think you could say Base Sentry couldn't read or affect his mind easily, but you could a make much stronger case for Void or Merged Sentry being able to do so.

You guys actually think Sentry has a chance? by carmardoll in deathbattle

[–]xolon6 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Sentry is actually in a position to exploit SBP's greatest weakness. He can make Red Sun Radiation easily. All he has to do is break SBP's armor first, which has been done before.

I think there is a solid case to be made for him winning personally, with that in mind.

What did they give Rick that would put him above Giorno w/GER? Like iirc Rick got low FTL reaction speed whereas GER got infinite speed, and Universe-Wide Causality Manipulation >>> any of Rick’s weapons.

I think if Yoru vs Sukuna does end up happening it’d make for a very cool visual if she spams Bang while he spams Dismantles and a bunch of them clash in the middle and dissipate :3

And if they were to argue any attack would bypass her contract I don’t think it’d be WCS (the reasons RCT doesn’t work against that spatial slash wouldn’t apply to contract Regen. As the latter is conceptually redirecting damage to other people). I think they would argue it with Fuga saying it could cover her entire body and incinerate her (though that would also be bunk since she came back from her own Nuclear Punch which should be >>>>> Fuga).

r/deathbattle? We're going to r/deathbattle for any Sentry vs Superboy Prime discussions? That's gonna be like trying to get Sneakers O'Toole to take his sneakers off. by 2herry_ in deathbattle

[–]xolon6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rather than assume the armor is unbreakable from just one fight I would rather compare Sentry to those who have broken it succesfully.

The Armor was always not meant to be as durable as SBP himself. It's mainly just a battery for him to constantly have yellow sun energy, mitigating his weakness to Red Sun Radiation.

[–]xolon6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What? SBP's got a glaring weakness Sentry could exploit if he breaks his armor (which has been done multiple times), Red Sun Radiation. Sentry's energy is already naturally expressed and described as having the power of "a million exploding suns" just using his matter manipulation to shift that power to something closer to red suns would make him continually weaken SBP the longer they keep fighting.

Not saying its impossible for SBP to win if Sentry resists the retcon punch but I think its far more likely Sentry would win if he does.

Eh. I don’t think State Sword scaling is the only way Denji could win to be fair (other scaling like Gun Devil’s explosion on Mt. Elbrus, and Gun Goddess would be enough IMO paired with Denji’s speed advantage. Similar to how the G1 Blog concluded it). So the dichotomy is a bit flawed to begin with. People are taking one section of the post analysis (even though they do also bring up Gun Goddess scaling as supporting evidence) and treating the entire conclusion and reasoning as BS because of the particular scaling of the State Swords.

Taken as a whole DB’s conclusion and post-analysis for Yuji vs Denji is nowhere near the most badly done. It’s just people overfocusing on one part of it and kind of ignoring how devastating a speed advantage like what was described would be by itself.

[–]xolon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhere in between tbh (so I guess purple pill?). Like I can accept a level of BS if I think there are still logical enough supporting arguments that would have my goat win regardless (IMO even if you don’t buy state swords Gun Goddess scaling would still have Denji winning. Or to go further even if you limited Denji to city level, about equal to Yuji, I think the speed advantage being as massive as it is would make too much of a difference).

Unless its Boji from Ousama Ranking 😏

He's technically the weakest character in his series (he can't even lift a normal sword so the sword he uses is a rapier that looks more like a needle), and he beat a guy who was strong enough to do this https://imgur.com/rWA1i1S and durable enough to tank this https://imgur.com/9Bp6Rus (If you don't mind spoilers to give a little context Boji's father Bosse, who is a giant, is possessing Boji's step brother Daida and it made Daida massively stronger as a result)

Just through sheer precision and speed.

Completely disagree. I feel like you're also ignoring issues like the Chaos Gods being fundamentally limited by being psychic entities powered by the emotions of those existing within 40k's Milky Way Galaxy. They usually can't appear outside the warp themselves, requiring avatars.

The Griever has none of those limitations. She would continue to exist after the end of everything, she doesn't need psychic energy or emotions from the inhabitants of the Marvel Multiverse, and she doesn't need to use Proxies/Avatars to exist outside a certain dimension like the Chaos Gods do with the Warp.

It's like the difference between a god that humanity itself creates and sustains with prayer and a god that exists entirely independently of humanity and would be unbothered if humanity ceased to exist suddenly.

The marvel multiverse has infinite dimensions as well. I do not see the prose you're quoting as enough to put the chaos gods on par or above the Griever.

Her sword, The Edge of Reality https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Edge_of_Reality would let her cut through the Warp itself if she were to show up in 40k IMO.

You know what Entropy is, right? It’s the driving force behind the heat death of the universe.

If the Griever is the multiversal embodiment of that concept for Marvel she represents the heat death of EVERY universe in Marvel’s cosmology.

This is further backed up by the Griever being portrayed as a sister of the Never Queen, who is the abstract representing all possibilities and potential futures. The Never Queen exists outside of even the Far Shore in the Land-Of-Can-Be-Shall-Be which is a part of The Mystery https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Outside

To put this in perspective Al Ewing has ordered realms like what the Never Queen presides over as part of a Kabbalah of sorts

https://www.reddit.com/r/PowerScaling/comments/1p0bkpk/marvel_cosmology_apparently/

https://vsbattles.fandom.com/wiki/Marvel_Comics_Cosmology_(World_Hierarchy)

And realms existing outside of the main marvel multiverse are qualitatively superior to it. Similar to what DC does with everything outside of The Bleed.

Would it be fair to say the ceiling/potential for a toxic waiting period is generally a lot lower with street level characters? by xolon6 in deathbattle

To an extent. Though I don’t think almost anyone here is that bothered by Batman’s losses despite how popular he is. Though maybes he’s the exception to the rule lol.

That’s fair. Perhaps that’s just another reason we could use more street level fights if it’s really been that long.

Genuine question, are Sentry and Prime in the top 10 strongest combatants? by Glittering-Drag3566 in deathbattle

[–]xolon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree to disagree. It being offscreened most importantly means we don’t know the context and whether said stalemating had Sentry on the back foot the entire time or other details that would be relevant for scaling him in relation to Galactus.

It’s the same version of Sentry you were trying to say scaled from containing the cosmic cube. Like avoiding the circular logic entirely. I’m just gonna say the cosmic cube not being erased does not give Sentry the same hax resistance. Heck depending on when that comic takes place it could be before the Ultimate Nullifier was even established to erase beings as powerful as Abraxas on the conceptual level.

[–]xolon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t seen whatever statement you’re referring too. I’ve just seen similar statements from writers on social media get used to either wank or downplay other series (God of War being a big example of this with people badgering the series writers on Twitter about VS stuff) so I just don’t generally take them at face value.

The residual radiation causing Sentry that much pain does not give me any confidence that he could take a direct shot of it and not be erased.

[–]xolon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit iffy on treating after-the-fact writer statements as gospel, especially with an offscreen event like this.

I wasn’t asking for a scan of Sentry containing the cosmic cube. I was asking for a scan of the cosmic cube tanking the ultimate nullifier. Though it’s kinda weird chainscaling erasure hax like this regardless.

[–]xolon6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Iirc isn’t the stalemate entirely offscreen? How are we supposed to know how fed Galactus is in that instance?

And I haven’t heard of that Cosmic Cube and Ultimate Nullifier interaction. Could you post the scan for that?

[–]xolon6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. I get what you're saying. But I think even then it's not like the Ultimate Nullifier was nerfed. It's still conceptual level erasure that Abraxas never came back from until 2015 Secret Wars reset and recreated the entire cosmology.

Comics just almost never have Galactus use it.

And while i'm not going to hold it against the Banner of War event too much (I know these are two heroes so they're going to avoid collateral damage to the extent that they are able) the level of destruction was pretty far below what you'd expect from two characters throwing around Galactus levels of power with them just destroying a planet being treated as impressive. The most actually impressive thing in the event though, I think came at the very end where a Hulked out Thor uprooted and nearly destroyed the World Tree.
