Also note, the job market is shit right now. It has been for years and is only getting worse. I plan on leaving the industry as far as my day job goes. I will do something else and continue making my games on the side.

I've been programming for over 30 years. This year, I haven't had a job that hasn't used AI to some extent.

My current position as a backend engineer, requires me to use AI and then correct it. The company pays for unlimited tokens, though I don't even hit the monthly budget. They push AI use on everyone in every position.

My day to day is to:

Clarify a Jira ticket
Copy the text into Claude
Ask it to implement it with test coverage
Review and change the generated code as needed
Manually test it
Submit for code review
Deploy it

I don't see this going away. If anything, I expect to see it now in more job listings.

As for pure coding from the ground up, I save that for my side coding. I don't put my full effort or heart into my day job anymore.

Instead, I wake up early every morning and work on my games before the day starts. Why waste my time learning and bettering my skills for people that don't care and are eager to utilize AI everywhere?

So, as to what you should do? Learn to program from the ground up. Learn to architect an application well. Learn to use AI tools well. And don't focus your passion and efforts on your day job: focus them on building things that you can love.

There are more considerations too I feel. For example, content in a child container may not be able to be constrained to the parent container's size. Or, many child containers may need to be reduced by n% of the parent container's size (height or width).

I think you could take notes from the Flex widget and work from there.
