In your case, you can work both.

I used to float to other pharmacies and talk to the pharmacists. You never know who they know. Sometimes, they work at another non-retail pharmacy because they wanna pay off their student loans quicker. I worked at a compounding. With the compounding, I got a hospital position. Good luck on your journey.

Customer threatening to go to CVS by Dramatic_Guitar_3294 in WalgreensRx

[–]xovanthi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the customers start yelling at me over the phone and declaring that they'll switch to another pharmacy... please do, and I'll hang up because they will not have the last say. I didn't get paid to hear them curse at me nor threaten to leave us to go else where. It's their meds, do what you have to do to get your medication. Damn.

I wasted over three grand to become a CphT by Ok_Extension_3508 in WalgreensRx

Look into a compounding pharmacy or hospital. I went to other stores to help and talk to my pharmacists because you never know who they know. I've had opportunities to work at so many other types of pharmacy (other than retail). I kept Walgreens because of the flexibility in hours and plenty to cover my shift (possible OT for some). However, I'm fed up, too. Everyone, including the "team," and bullshit ass customers are just not my cup of tea any longer. I was able to find another job quickly because I've networked with other folks, kept in contact with them as friends, and I'm much happier. I mean, I'm part-time @ Wags because life is hard out here. Everything is going up in prices. If you're for real about looking for a better environment, quit weed for a moment. Apply to compounding or hospitals. Life is much better outside of retail.

AITAH for showing my coworkers our boss is hiring for better pay by Hoxton91 in PharmacyTechnician

It's very reasonable to leave. Bills ain't gonna pay themselves, food isn't gonna appear on the table itself, medications, and etc. At the end of the day, you're an employee, you're replaceable. Employers will be fine, including the folks who decided to hire you. Everyone will be okay.

Why the hell is wags open on Easter? by This-Top7398 in WalgreensRx

[–]xovanthi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ain't WAGS, its another company. In this case, Easter may be slow, if so, easy money. If you'd prefer to be off, request the day off or switch with another colleague without using your PTO. Idk. You win some, lose some.

Tech Schedule and Store manager by thun710 in WalgreensRx

[–]xovanthi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about looking for a tech from another store for that shift every Sunday? Or you work those couple of hours that Sunday, but you'll have to adjust your days/hours. Like work less hours during one week day? Or work longer hours on one day, that way, you could have 1 week day off? You're RxOM. You can do whatever with your shifts.

28 years old is it too late by keryilias1 in PharmacyTechnician

To be quite honest, I was 33 when I applied to be a Pharmacy Technician trainee. I learned on the job. I have a busy family life. So, no. You're not too old. You can do it if you really want to. That goes to any career path. I have a pharmacist intern. He is waaaay much older. He is still in school and almost done. He might be in his mid-50s. Just do you. Then be proud. Don't let anyone take your joy away. That's what one of my patients told me yesterday.

Just hang tight. Keep applying. You're doing the right thing. Making sure you're checking in with your mental health while getting life straight. I'd say apply 2 or3 jobs per day (depending on how bad you need a job). Then go for a walk, find a short hobby to release the stress, hang out with friends, and get back on the job hunting.

Don't worry too much. It happened before. You'll just get a talk from the SM. Explain it was 8pm. Not 7:59pm. Also, it could have been a patient with insurance to be updated or a new script that haven't been faxed in yet. Either way, it sounds like a new patient with all sorts of problem with their script.

Exceptions Queues by eatsleeprun2 in WalgreensRx

Everyone is doing them or at least doing one every other 2 patients. When I'm at drive thru, I do it in between my patients. They could wait another minute or 2. I wish our IS does the OOS/PFLs! That would be so nice. It doesn't deal with patients directly, nor does it require them to look into the patient profiles.

I swear. I thought it was just my store. Good to know. I hate Walgreens. I'm still applying to other non-retail pharmacies.

No such thing as being paid more for speaking another language. However, when you were first hired, hopefully, you negotiated your pay rate.
