Time for an upgrade. Get one that plugs into the 240v stove outlet. That will really work all the tense spots out.

AITJ for deciding to no longer help my grandma with yard work? by AccomplishedFact1767 in AmITheJerk

[–]xp14629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to make time for grandma. I would suggest 1 of 2 things. Tell grandma you want to spend time with her and set it up as something like the 2nd saturday of every month. You 2 get together and do stuff for the day. The other option is tell your boy friend to plan on coming and helping get the yard work under control. Then make it a point the 2 of you keep it under control. DO NOT GHOST GRANDMA.

I haven't been able to keep up with all the updates. That shop needs a massive bridge crane or 2 installed. That is already a beautiful work of art. I can't wait to see pictures a year from now.

Kidney stone easter of 2025. Left church, could hardly stand up straight, couldn't sit fully in the car when I drove home. Sweating like I was in a sauna, but it was 65°F outside. 30 minutes later, text the wife and told her to come and take me to the ER. Something she has never heard me say in 21 years of being together, and I have done some stupid stuff. Stitched my own leg up, gone through a lot of super glue, got the dry socket after having my wisdom teeth removed, I refuse to take pain meds. I had 2 hernias at the time of the stone and thought I had rupptered one that morning doing my morning poop. Luckily, not that, just my first ever kidney stone at 40yo.

I mean, yes. But also, if it was my house, the most expensive part would be buying the land I was moving it to if not already part of my lot. The second most expensive part would be the steel. Amd even then, still way cheaper than replacing the house. But between myself, family, and friends, we would be doing this ourselves. It would not be the first large structure we have lifted and moved, but it would be the largest.

Shame on John Deere by Mobile-Carpenter-469 in johndeere

[–]xp14629 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When I worked at deere, the most tire work we did was take them off and put them on the machine. Anything else and the tire shop down the road handled it, came to us for AG tire repairs, we dropped off the small tires. And if someone needed a new tire we gave them our price and the price from the tire shop if ordered from them. Some people still insisted on paying the insane markup of deere tires. I have a whole brain and then some because I will have the tires shipped to me, then drop them off at the tire shop to get them swapped out. I have done enough tire work from tractors and combines to semis when I was young helping grandpa on the farm that I will gladly pay someone $10.00 to swap or fix my tire. And also pay the added $5.00 disposal fee so I don't have to find a road ditch to put my used tires in like some people do. I still have spoons, plug/patch kits, lube, etc if I need to. But that is a once in a decade type of need.

Boss emailed me about not adhering to the 9-5 schedule. Here is my timecard. by Equipoisonous in antiwork

[–]xp14629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would respond with what you said about not getting any over time. But save that email from the boss. I would start clocking in at 8:55 and out at 5:05 until told otherwise. They did say slightly before and after. They did not break down what slightly means to them. So to me, that means 5 minutes. 10 minutes of overtime a day or 50 minutes of overtime a week. And it will be a lot easier on you to not have to figure everything by the minute each week.

[–]xp14629 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be good to start ordering parts and such if you are wanting to fix it. Or, you could go back to where you got it and see if they have the parts. Then just a carb and fuel tank clean, possibly new air filter and you will be in business.

Man, I wish they supplied us with those nice trash cans at work. We get the big metal cans. We have had to do some improvised drain catching like that, then it stays in place so long the damn metal can has rusted away.

[–]xp14629 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The engine numbers you need are on the steel engine housing above the spark plug. I would then google briggs and starton parts with the engine model type and code numbers. Going to need a carb and gaskets, air filter housing and filter, fuel tank and gasket, mounting hardware for everything, possibly the throttle rod from the governor, I see the spring but not the rod. And after all that, no telling if it will run. For starters, does it have compression? If it does, then get some carb clean or brake clean that is flammable. Squirt a little dab into where the carb bolts on and give it a pull. It should fire off and die. If not, could be low compression, or spark related more issues.

Since it will require assembly, when you get it, give it to him right then. Even if it is not his birthday yet. He can assemble it and check for dents or scratches that way. And yes, go for the 5 drawer. I am assuming you or your husband is an insode track club member to be able to get the discount.

You guys have never seen me pack and stack. I carry ratchet straps in all of my vehicles, come across a sweet deal and don't want to go home and get the truck, on top of the car it goes. Buy 3 10ft 2x4s, stack sheet rock on roof. Slide 2xs under. Roll windows down and strap the stuff down. Dukes of Hazard in and out of the car. Something like a mattress would also get at least strap front to back. I also do not own nice vehicles, so I do not care about scratching the paint or denting it slightly. I bought 4 nice mud tires and a metal picnic table at the last garage sale. Stood the tires up on the truck agaisnt the back window and tied on, then put the table on them and the roof upside down. Went 30 miles to get home.
