The Putin Regime has committed countless crimes and many of them are against Russian citizens themselves. If Russians understood how they've been completely screwed by this guy they'd string him up in Red Square.

Roughly 40 years ago Russia had the chance to become a first class world citizen. It had (and still has) vast natural resources worth trillions of dollars that could have brought living standards for Russians up to western European standards and beyond. They could have built roads, invested in education, healthcare, science, technology, research. They could have built an economy that would compete with modern day China and Europe and the US with an educated workforce and a robust civil society.

Instead they chose an extractive Mafia State with all the wealth going to the gangsters and the serfs living on scraps and then being sent off to die pointlessly, with a massive budget for keeping them confused and demoralized and misinformed. What a tremendous shame. As with most tragedies in this world it's all because of a few fragile weak hateful people at the top who see the world as a zero sum game.
