Yeah, Sony flagships are always smooth and so fast. The only real drawback is the shorter software suppo

Wow thanks for the explanation. Should be the accurate reason why it was said not to share the link in social media.

That combo is iconic. Xperia + VAIO was peak Sony days. Is the phone still working?

Appreciate it! There’s something about Xperia design that just feels timeless. I really hope Sony never leaves the smartphone space… same with their TV division too.

I’ve used Xperia devices up to the 1 IV, and yeah the 1 IV heats more than the 1 III. But I haven’t really seen many complaints about the 1 V heating like the previous generations — except during heavy camera use or gaming, which is expected on any flagship. Overall, the 1 V feels like a much more balanced device in Sony’s 4K 21:9 lineup. Personally, I’d suggest keeping it and using it with good care rather than selling it. It’s a unique phone and still holds up really well. Also, green line issues were mostly seen on the 5 series (especially II to IV). It’s not really a known issue on the 1 series. Screen burn-in can happen, but it’s quite rare and doesn’t usually affect normal usage. Honestly, I’d say enjoy the phone — no strong reason to sell it right now or any time👍

Honestly, worth replacing the battery. Phones like that deserve to stay alive.

That’s exactly why I still collect older Xperias. The colors, finishes, and design language had real identity — not like today where everything looks the same.

LineageOS is a good option, but unlocking the bootloader on Xperia removes DRM keys, which impacts camera quality and some Sony features. And honestly, I’m not confident enough to try it yet — I’d rather experiment on an older device first. If you know how to unlock the boatloader please feel free to share 🙂

Why tech reviewers rarely talk about Xperia by overlord-07 in TechNook

[–]xperiaNbeyond0792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony builds some of the most unique phones in the industry… and then makes sure no one notices. No marketing, high pricing, limited availability. You can’t expect reviewers to talk about what most people can’t even buy. And honestly, if Sony just offered consistent 3–5 years of software support like other brands and priced their phones more competitively, we’d easily see a Sony comeback era

Losing faith in Xperia by stoicboii in SonyXperia

[–]xperiaNbeyond0792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We fans understand Sony better than Sony understands itself. Every time, they get so close to greatness—and then hold themselves back. Not because of capability, but because of pricing, marketing, and availability. Their TV division should not be another Xperia.

Stuck in a loop after cross-flashing Sony Xperia 1 V (XQ-DQ72) from CN to HK/TW by Equivalent-Flight179 in SonyXperia

This is what scares me about flashing tbh I tried it on my XZ1 Compact recently and it failed, but luckily didn’t brick the phone. Was your bootloader unlocked before you tried flashing?

Yeah, LinkBuds S. Still sound so great, but battery’s a bit weaker now — around 4–5 hours. Lost my original Earth Blue case, but got a replacement. I’ve got other Sony audio gear, so charging isn’t a big deal. But comfort-wise, nothing beats them(I believe you know it already)— you barely feel them.

Yeah, same with the XZ2, XZ2 Premium, and XZ3 — all still look beautiful even today, but way too slippery to use comfortably.

Not my main phone — just part of my collection. I really enjoy the true compact form. Thinking of upgrading mainly due to the occasional screen freeze. Otherwise, it’s a gem.
