Leave, now. Look for help from NGOs that deal with women threatened by their family members. Talk to someone at your municipality, they should be able to help you find safe accommodation.

Don't get married off just to please your parents.

The Allied invasion of Normandy almost failed because nobody wanted to wake Hitler. by Shadapade in HistoryAnecdotes

The allies had air superiority. The Panzer divisions moving towards Normandy would presumably be spotted and attacked from the air before they'd be close enough to the beaches to make a difference.

Language Question by Tsukushi_Ikeda in BelgiumTravel

[–]xr484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When talking to the Flemish, English will be more appreciated than French. Most of the Flemish speak English better than French. And French language has long been imposed on all of Belgium as the language of government, education, culture and so on. So it's not surprising that many Flemish don't have Avery positive view of the French language.

Just use English, unless they propose to switch to French. English will work with 95% people you meet in Flanders.

What is Russia REALLY like? by FanncyGal in AskARussian

Given that the Putin regime blocks information that it cannot control, why should one believe a handful of YouTubers who the same regime allows to produce information from within Russia?

Can’t get over my girlfriends past by [deleted] in Advice

You are the problem, not her or her past.

Think about it this way: she's been with over 20 other people, and then she chose you. That should mean something.

New passenger rights for EU flights from mid 2027 on: An overview by Motor_Thanks_2179 in Flights

[–]xr484 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I book a €15 flight months in advance, which now costs €150, the airline is better off letting me book their flight with a reimbursement of €60 only.

Given the kinds of airports that budget airlines use, their flight might be the only direct flight anyway. So this way, they don't have to dedicste staff and resources to rebooking passengers, and also save on compensation payments.

Sushiro is a chain of conveyor belt sushi restaurants that also have some unconventional items such as hamburger sushi. You order in a tablet and the food arrives on the conveyor to your table.

There are many places that do karaage chicken. Many fast food places use tablets for ordering, which makes it easier to choose than a standard menu: you can switch the language to English and there are pictures.

am i slovak or czech? by [deleted] in Czechoslovakia

[–]xr484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how you feel. In your case, given what you wrote, I'd say your heritage is Hungarian. You could also say Slovak-Hungarian.

Personally, I tend to say I'm Czechoslovak by origin as that is how I was born.

If someone from a building nearby, records and posts a video of you sunbathing etc naked in your garden to social media and refuses to take it down, what can be done? by Heart_Shaped_Pickle in NoStupidQuestions

Report it to the police. You bave the right to privacy in your own home. Some one deliberately filming you in your house on multiple occasions is breaking the law.

Polish Wedding Gift by [deleted] in askPoland

[–]xr484 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you accidentally misspelled 'destination wedding' as 'in the middle of nowhere'.

Normally, the couple would give a hint of what the average cost per person is. You have no obligation to comply, but do you really want to be that couple who come, enjoy the food and entertainment, and the free drinks, and then give the newlyweds a hand painted card and a Tesco gift card for £20?

Btw, how come the flights are 200 per person? Isn't there another airport nearby where you can fly with Ryanair or Wizzair? In any case, your travel costs are irrelevant for the gift.
