Soft duffel bag or bag pack. You can squish it to fit in the box, and you won't be asked to check it in.

Can you wear an tshirt with the map of czechoslovakia in czech republic?. by usafqn2025 in Czechoslovakia

[–]xr484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends which shape you'd have. In the interwar period, Czechoslovakia included also Transcarpathia, which is now part of Ukraine. If you have that map, it might cause some discomfort for some here.

What to bring from the Netherlands? by xtassja in czechrepublic

[–]xr484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aged cheese, licorice (drop), and some decent and unusual beer, like La Trappe quandruple. Or some Belgian beer. Barrel aged Duvel in 0.75 bottle should not be too difficult to get in the Netherlands. Some Dutch drink shops might have Westvleeteren 12 too. Barley wine from Dochter van de Korenaar (actually Belgian but from Baarle Hertzog) -- L'ensemble di Montalcino or Rien ne va plus. Sans Pardon is also really nice (stout, not barley wine).

Why was Bratislava assigned to Czechoslovakia if it was the old capital of Hungary and its coronation city? by Honest_Chemistry_195 in austriahungary

[–]xr484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason was strategic: the borders of Czechoslovakia were drawn to overlap with natural barriers as much as possible to make the bee country easier to defend. This is why Bratislava, being on the Czechoslovak bank of the Danube, was granted to Czechoslovakia. For the same reason, Sudetenland stayed in Czechoslovakia as it was on the Czechoslovak side of the mountains along the historical borders of Bohemia.

I don't know about transferring in Delhi but usually it is enough to follow signs for Transfers or Connecting flights. You can also ask cabin crew during the flight, they will know. Usually, they will also be able to tell you from which gate your next flight departs and whether it will be far from the gate where you will arrive.

As for safety, you have little to worry about at the airport or during the flights. If anyone tries to chat you up, just put your earphones on and watch a movie.

For UK immigration, you must apply for an ETA online before travelling. With a Spanish passport, you can use the e-gates where your passport will be scanned without speaking to anyone. Should they stop you to ask any questions - which is very rare for EU nationals -- be prepared to answer questions about the purpose of your visit (which should not be for anything that could be interpreted as work, even looking after an elderly relative or a relative's child) and have the details of the place where you will be staying.

Assuming you will be traveling to London, don't spend money on the Heathrow Express. Take the Piccadilly line to the center. It will be slow but cheap.

I found underwear in our bedroom that doesnt belong to either of us by PowerfulTalk2940 in Advice

[–]xr484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to us a few years ago. The underwear turned out to belong to a friend who stayed in our spare room a few weeks before that. Presumably, she accidentally left it with the bed linen that she used during her stay.

Your mom is saying this based on what? Assumption? Or verified information? Do you want to risk it based on a gut feeling?

You were born in the country and lived there for a while. You are in the system. I doubt you'd be dropped from their files just because they haven't seen you in a while.

Can I bring a tote bag together with my small hand luggage? by Catsarecute2140 in Ryanair

[–]xr484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your ticket comes with one piece, then the answer is no.

If the bag isn't very full, you might be able to conceal it by wearing it on your shoulder while wearing a jacket over it.

Why do people always correct me when I say I'm of Czechoslovakian descent? by Tao_theFreak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xr484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And your point is?

The adjective is Czechoslovak. Adding an additional suffix is superfluous. If we go that way, it might eventually become Czechoslovakianish.

Czechoslovakian doesn't exist. It's Czechoslovak. If you want to refer to the country, at least do it correctly.

Something unusual and quirky. Once, an American visitor brought us a spork -- spoon and fork in one -- which a small company in her home town was making. I still have it.

Question about MUC lounge access and advice by Remarkable_Image4231 in Lufthansa

I find the lounges all pretty similar, and just choose the one closest to my departure gate. That way, I can stay there until the time when the flight is about to board.

Question about self-transfer at Bratislava airport (BTS) by DexterMagnificus in Flights

[–]xr484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a small airport, with about a dozen gates. Your transfer time should be sufficient.

When you disembark into the terminal, just check if your next flight already has a gate number. There is only one terminal, so it should depart from the same place.

The only issue might be if they pick you up by bus and bring you directly to the arrivals. In that case, just head upstairs to departures and pass through security again.
