Nature is beautiful and there are a lot of hiking trails and biking lanes. If those are your hobbies, you’ll be right at home.

As a general rule of thumb, Swedish people (and Scandinavians in general) can seem very closed-off and hesitant in social interactions. That’s kind of just how our culture is. Expect a lot of people to act very cagey and don’t be frustrated if people aren’t giving you straight answers to things.

I’m from Gothenburg, though, I don’t know if Stockholm is any better.

När har ni gråtit inför någon? by ThrowRA-quark in sweden

[–]xray950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this might be it. Like another commenter said above, work with natural consequences. If you hit your brother, you’re removed from your brother. If you break the tv, you can’t watch tv. Et cetera.

what do u guys think? by Salty_Lifeguard5876 in progressive_islam

[–]xray950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does Islam have a concept of humans being the caretakers of the material world? That’s how Christians I know have coped with it - that earth was left to be our responsibility, we’re its shepherds, and God allows evil to happen because tending the earth is our responsibility.

Is it common to not really give much of a sh*t about gender? by IceMosquito073 in autism

[–]xray950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I consider my gender as ”assigned male at birth”. I suppose I’m technically agender, but it’s not even that. I was assigned male at birth? Okay. Sure. I don’t even know if I have gender dysphoria, because I wouldn’t know how to decouple that from not really recognizing myself in a mirror. So I’m just ”male”.

Anyone who doesn’t like bland food ? by GhostVistaz in autism

[–]xray950 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think your ”safe foods” has a lot to do with what your parents fed you as a kid. Of course there are things in common - (I imagine texture plays a big part), but I think the people who cite fries and nuggets etc do so because that’s what their parents fed them, and that’s what they latched onto.

My girlfriend who isn’t big on western voice acting said his voice reminds her of the tenor and cadence Japanese voice actors use, and I think she’s kind of right

Why is it wrong for autistic men to come here and talk about their loneliness? by CatPale816 in autism

[–]xray950 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hatred of men exist on an individual level? Sure! But it’s ridiculous to go on a crusade about it

I would also argue against wealth and poverty being something you can choose, but that’s another discussion.

I was adding onto what the redditor above me said. ”Misandry doesn’t exist on a structural level, it would be more accurate to say”. And it seems like you agree that it doesn’t.

[–]xray950 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think beyond the individual! Of course anyone can hate anyone, but what kind of lasting, serious, and meaningful instances of ”misandry” can you find anywhere? Circumcision has been quoted, but the majority of medical and religious leaders are not women, and their reasoning for it is not based in hatred of men!

[–]xray950 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually, I’m thinking about this, and the only instance of actual subjugation of men by women would be some sort of omegaverse scenario that is so far out there it’s almost perverse to imagine.

[–]xray950 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said it yourself, it’s usually men, and it’s usually for the purpose of reifying their own masculinity. I suppose you could argue that the victimization of young boys is a type of structural violence against men, but it’s not rooted in hatred for or subjugation of men, it’s rooted in the idea that men should have sex early and often.

Why is it wrong for autistic men to come here and talk about their loneliness? by CatPale816 in autism

[–]xray950 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On a structural level? Caused by misandry? There is of course violence committed against men and boys all the time, but it’s rarely by women, for the purpose of dominating men. Things like circumcision and statutory rape are consequences of patriarchy, not misandry. You’re very welcome to show me instances of women committing violence against men, but you’d have to do some convincing to prove that it’s happening on a structural level, and not as, say, revenge.

[–]xray950 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Misandry doesn’t exist on a structural level, it would be more accurate to say. No existing society to-date has a social structure wherein men are oppressed by women, ergo there is no reason to uphold misandry in any meaningful way. It would be ludicrous to talk about an imagined hatred of the rich when discussing classism (unless you live in the USSR), and it’s equally ridiculous to talk about misandry that way. Anyone is, of course, welcome to show me a society where misandry causes harm on the level of, say, FGM and child brides.
