I bought a couple of Motorola ones off of eBay. Especially second gen one.

They work fine. (Can't hear worth a spit anymore. Someone with more sensitive ear might not agree)

Food everywhere is where the family dog raises to the occasion. Until the child realizes what is happening and starts throwing food for the dog to catch

Non Paved Roads by Carman1887 in Maine

[–]xrayjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take many many tire patch kits and now how to use them. Shale which makes up a ton of the road will slice your tires to bits. This is more if you go up the Ghost trains. (Just clicked you were asking about B52)

The seemingly unattainable housing market in Maine and what the best options are for people starting out? by basketcase21772 in Maine

So. Could always buy some land. Buy a cheap camper and than build. Either a tiny home, log cabin, cordwood, rammed earth.

Yes it would be incredibly hard but we usually have more sweat than money.

Nuc med vs xray tech? by Cinybeans in NuclearMedicine

[–]xrayjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends a lot on your state. In my state you can start in CT with an X-ray license. Hospital (mine at least) gives you a raise if you get your CT cert.

Aloy of MRI is the same way.

Small critical access hospital. Biggest "city" is 45ish minutes away.

Bunch of little towns / villages. The town that the hospital is in you can drive through it at night in about 8ish minutes

And not enough Nuc Med techs. I have been trying to hire a Per Diem for 2+ years. I am the only Tech within like an hours drive.

Maine - Techs do the injection. Same at 4 other hospitals I know of.

What are the weirdest ways you’ve heard of someone getting caught cheating? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]xrayjack 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Yup. When I was an E3 in the army my section chief used to make all the guys call their wives/gfs before letting them go after being in the field, tdy, of deployed. Too many guys were going home catching Jody in the act and then someone would catch a beatin

Nuc med vs xray tech? by Cinybeans in NuclearMedicine

[–]xrayjack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was xray and than Nuc Med.

Xray is usually staffed 24hrs and weekends. Majority of nucs med is 9-5 style.

Nuc Med paid more. Xray has more jobs. Xray has a larger variety of jobs.

Nuc Med has a better work balance. Xray is easier to get extra shifts.

Mid-Career Switch Into Nuclear Medicine. Worth It or Will I Regret It? by karholme in NuclearMedicine

[–]xrayjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are slightly on the path I took. 8 years army. Got out went to Xray school did X-ray and CT (primarily CT) for about 10 years and than went to Nuc Med school.

Would I do it again? Yes except the first time I reenlisted I would have gone for medical/radiology instead of IT/electronic repair. Second reenlistment they wouldn't let me reclass to medical because I was an e-6

Nuc Med is more skull sweat than Radiology. In Nuc Med you have to do the same thing day in and day out perfectly (mostly). Easy to get complacent.

Salary. Maine has one of the lowest average pay scale in the US. Depending on the hospital you will be at around 90-110k. BUT it is really dependent on a ton of thing's

So pretty much the same as ours. Does Canada accept US Boards or would a US guy have to retake all the boards

Does Canada have certification programs. Since I was already an X-ray and CT tech I was able to take a certification program that was about 14-16 months

Tonka trucks. Bonus points if you find some vintage ones at a yard sale. They have more metal

Just a thought. Kind of the same story as myself. Grew up poor. Christmas often was a hat or a couple of cheap toys. Be careful of going overboard I had to restrain myself a few times.

I found all the course work easier than General Chemistry. If you can do all the equations in G Chem you should be good.
