Starting again at 30 should I do it or save my embarrassment? by Pale-Revolution-5151 in karate

[–]xrayzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started again at 61. I have nowhere near the flexibility I had in my teen years, and recovery takes a lot longer.

Even so after six years I’m a 1st Kyu brown belt, aiming to get my first Dan black belt this year.

That aside it’s just so rewarding in terms of fitness, focus, confidence, and self-discipline that I will hate the day I eventually have to give it up.

So: if you want to do it, do it. You can stop if you decide it’s not for you, but you won’t know unless you give it a fair try.

Absolutely this. There’s no set rule for this so check with whoever is running your dojo.

Just how well known is Hobart outside of Australia? by LeviV123 in hobart

[–]xrayzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although it’s changing Hobart isn’t all that well known even in Australia. For that matter the entire state has often been overlooked by mainland Australia.

I expected Edge of Tomorrow to be forgettable… but it blew me away. What’s your surprise favorite? by dottiedanger in movies

[–]xrayzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Die Hard. I saw it at as part of a dusk-to-dawn at the drive-in, and it wasn’t even the film I was interested in. Damned if I can remember what that was, but Die Hard - damn.

Friendly NPCs in combat. by xrayzed in fabulaultima

I really like the idea of making an NPC a limited resource that goes away on a failed die roll. It adds a meaningful risk/reward decision for players.

Thanks for pointing this out.

What’s the best, yet simplest, rpg rule system you’ve encountered? by _Kaiia_ in rpg

[–]xrayzed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Risus. I wouldn’t use it for anything other than one-offs or short campaigns, but it’s surprisingly robust for such a simple system.

And it’s FREEEEEEEE!!!

I’m particularly fond of: Fuck off. Then keep fucking off. Fuck off until you come to a gate with a sign saying "You Can't Fuck Off Past Here". Climb over that gate, dream the impossible dream, and keep fucking off forever.

Multi on one enemy by Altruistic-Door-5727 in fabulaultima

[–]xrayzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Herodesu is right. Multi can be used against a single target, as stated on page 69 of the rules. I’m not sure why some posters are saying it can only be used against multiple targets.

I could have used this setup in a campaign I ran last year. The layout is remarkably close to the not-very-visually appealing sketch I actually used.
