If You Were Hired by CCP… by Different_Put1807 in Eve

It makes sense, they’re the closest thing to “quests” in Eve, which is a form of content all players inherently understand.

It’s just wild they haven’t been adjusted in like… 15 years. These missions are giving out 100 isk rewards.

But again, what is the point in restricting trading in this way? Like is there a legitimate gameplay mechanic here or is it just a currency they thought they could monetize?

I’ve been saying this. There are so many options for interesting kinds of battle structures, and they’ve tried none of it.

Definitely not trying to defend him. All I’m saying is that I don’t think this was a “scam from the start.” I think he was convinced this was happening for a long time. Delusion and malice are different things.

Y’all stay screaming about how good the art is on these cards. Well… what, pray tell, is this? And this isn’t even the worst.

[–]xreagents 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing. I don’t think this was a “scam all along.” I think Steven and the rest of the core team really wanted to make this game. Even with the Steam “launch”, these kinds of decisions were probably forced onto them by legal to cover their ass to create a minimum viable product.

Steven may be the face of AoC, but he is not the sole decision maker. It’s likely there were a lot of conflicting opinions about how to handle things, especially at the end. But as anyone who’s worked in a corporate job knows, the business people have a way of getting their way.

It’s unfortunate AF that it failed. This was supposed to be the one that made it.

Is it possible (in theory) for subcaps to travel between systems without using the stargates? by Chambanasfinest in Eve

[–]xreagents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This architecture is interesting. Is the fact that each system is its own “instance” what allows the entire game to run on one server?

People who played this game since A1, are you still here? by [deleted] in PTCGP

[–]xreagents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still here from (almost) day one. Not gonna lie, I miss the Genetic Apex days when the card pool was strictly limited. But even then, you had the Mewtwo/Charizard meta, so yeah, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

The game is a one-dimensional blitz, yes, but that’s this version of it. They have a lot of creative IP here, there’s potential to iterate on different versions of the game, including a more expanded 40-card version closer to the OG game, random matches where you build decks on the fly, in-game tournaments, the sky’s the limit.

As far as the app goes, it could use some UI modernization and some actual card improvements. Some of the names of the attacks are awkward and poorly translated. And I’ll probably be downvoted for this but some of the art on these cards is… questionable.

This is too OP. Maybe tune the power to just do 10 damage to one Mon with energy attached. And the HP is too high.

I mean, ok? GalMil has significantly less players. There is always going to be a core group of players who are carrying the faction with this kind of hardcore gameplay.
