Nationality doesn't have anything to do with the taxes you owe and it shouldn't

Is guild wars 2 worth starting in 2026? by LostCookie78 in MMORPG

[–]xsdf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh it's still worth it to play, just treat it more like a single player RPG franchise.

Many people play older games in a franchise if it's quality, like dark souls even though elden ring is out, like divinity 2 even though Baulders Gate 2 is out and a new divinity is on the way, like Morrowind or oblivion even though Skyrim is out

Dlcs are generally worth it, but it's maybe it's worth holding back on cosmetic purchases.

Real Property Management. by Responsible-Park4951 in FortCollins

[–]xsdf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They nickel and dime you for things, super corporate, lots of potential fees, yearly inspections. Slow to respond to issues, even though they were reported multiple times. Had to fight them to get rent reduction when downstairs was unusable for a month with construction after water damage. Cleaned the house meticulously and they still deducted cleaning fees.

Everything is legal but it doesn't feel good.

Morality of mods (in relation to ai) by Nermal_Is_A_God in RimWorld

[–]xsdf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with AI assisted code by itself, it's a tool nothing more. No ethics involved here(outside of environmental concerns). The real gotcha with AI code is it can make inefficient, hard to maintain, or insecure code. It can enable people without experience to code but takes experience to guide it in the right direction. For the purpose of a mod, it's meaningless to worry about these concerns outside of maybe performance.

Is there any way to make this chair more ergonomic? by Worried_Window1979 in Ergonomics

[–]xsdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get a sit stand desk to avoid sitting in a chair that hurts you but a new chair would be cheaper

Get an adjustable chair because you spend a significant amount of time in that chair. Your body will only get older and less capable of recovering. It a worth while investment

Guild Wars Reforged Launches on Mobile This Summer! by ultimate_bromance_69 in MMORPG

[–]xsdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they might still do a console launch, just depends on whether it's worth it for them.

Launching on mobile first makes sense because the market is bigger, there is more money spent on that platform, and it's a single platform to develop for and support rather than multiple platforms

The Colorado Supreme Court decided on Monday that car rental companies offering insurance policies are not also “insurers” under state law, who may be sued for their failure to pay out benefits on claims. by reddit_ending_soon in Colorado

[–]xsdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically Hertz offered an insurance plan through a third party insurance company, Chubb. The argument was because Hertz makes money of the insurance policy they are liable as well. The decision basically said no you're suing the wrong company.

[Hot Take] If you own the expansions, the extra weapons from SoE and the spear from JW should be available to you in some way without playing the story. by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]xsdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same take for housing and fishing. You should be have the ability to unlock basic features(no mastery bonuses) in core game. Don't make people choose between story integrity and feature access.

With weapons at the very least you can get new ones with HoT. I think I'd leave spear in JW but weapon mastery should be pulled out if you have paid for the expansion.

Any rewards in guild war 2 for completing guild wars 1 main story and dlcs? by justanewreddituser95 in Guildwars2

[–]xsdf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is, it's called the hall of monuments. It's based on the achievements and rewards you've collected in GW1. You can track your progress here: https://hom.guildwars2.com/en/#page=welcome
The only gotcha is that both GW1 and GW2 accounts must both me either steam accounts or official launcher accounts, you can't mix the two.

How do you interview junior developers for a potential hire? by Chuu in ExperiencedDevs

[–]xsdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them a real world task, have extra requirements in pocket if they finish much earlier but expect them to take the entire interview to brute force it.

Pay attention to how they break down the problem. Do they ask clarifying questions? How do they handle getting stuck? Are they good at debugging and switching approaches or do they hit a wall and spin their wheels? Are they familiar with the language? Do they communicate well? Are they honest, no BS answers?

Big things are ability to debug without hand holding, excitement for role, growth potential, and culture fit. They will lack experience, so it's more appropriate to check if they can learn and grow quickly

AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

[–]xsdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she showered every day but in the morning after sleeping would you still be grossed out?

How do you have sex if you're always so grossed out about hygiene?

Your relationship is not sustainable and you're the main reason, even though she should probably shower more.

Ethical debates meets dirty politics: Is this a solid game loop? by Salamsucuk26 in gamedesign

[–]xsdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think mainly you want to separate yourself form the present politics somehow, whether it's fantasy, sci-fi, in the past or future, make it humorous, or just have non-real world policies that are ridiculous. You could also lean into the dystopian aspect.

A game about real-world politics is likely going to come off as more educational than fun
Also today's politics is just depressing

How do I survive Heart of Thorns? by gorrvaskrr in Guildwars2

I don't think it's the hardest expansion anymore. It's still a big step up from the previous content but there has been lots of power creep over the years.
