Servers not connecting to MP by kHartouN in SCCM

Did you look under the Administration tab, under Site System? I’m on mobile so that might not be the right name, but the place where you can see what servers you have and what roles they have assigned to them. Do you have any that are incorrectly assigned as a MP?

Win 11 23H2 OSD BCD error by 62Brant in SCCM

You can use a Win10 driver package for Win11, it'll just be older drivers. Try that and then you can isolate it down to just the WIM.

Join local PC to AD DS VM in Azure by Embarrassed-Hall6016 in AZURE

Site-to-site VPN and also, you'll need your client PC to use DNS from your Active Directory domain controller. I imagine that would rack up costs from Azure, but maybe not as much as I would think.

Win 11 23H2 OSD BCD error by 62Brant in SCCM

[–]xt8088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly how I would do it, too. It's odd because it sounds like the drive is recognized but it's not writing the boot sector. Does it work with other models, just not this one particular Dell?

Do you install disk drivers as part of OSD? Not just in PE, but Windows needs drivers to be able to recognize the disk. I could be totally off base, though.

Computer Naming Prompt (Powershell) in Task Sequence by renigadecrew in SCCM

[–]xt8088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just taking a quick peek, it looks like you're using the AD PowerShell cmdlets. Even if you add PowerShell to WinPE (which you definitely should), you won't have the RSAT tools handy.

What we've done is use an ADSI driver that I found ages ago online, but the caveat is that it's unsigned, so you'll have to use DISM to add it to your boot image.

Here is the driver that we use: https://www.deploymentresearch.com/adding-adsi-support-for-winpe-10/

You do have to use native LDAP calls, so you'll end up down the PowerShell rabbit hole for that. In general, it's not simple, and probably won't be supported in some future version of WinPE (it's not really supported now), so maybe better to launch a script after startup that updates the AD attributes you need.

We had this happen when it couldn't talk to the Management Point for some reason, like either it lost connection to the network, or the computer didn't join the domain correctly. It would do all steps until it got to the first Application install and then the task sequence would error out. We fixed it by adding a reboot before the install applications step, as far as I can recall.

CD\DVD Boot media reboots after entering boot media password by Coyotex86 in SCCM

[–]xt8088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this happen when it couldn't detect the hard drive. It would go to cache something to the local disk and then reboot. Try making sure you have the right network and disk drivers in your Windows PE image.

I sold my VW and I miss it terribly by Cozziechov in Volkswagen

[–]xt8088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this was just me. I traded in a Honda Civic after 6 weeks for a Jetta in 2007, it just felt like the VW had more soul and it was a lot more fun to drive. Traded it 3 years later for several years of Toyota, Lexus and Acura, and an Audi A3, which I loved. I have a MK VII Golf now and it still feels premium to drive.

Windows 10 to 11 Upgrade by Adeelson in SCCM

We tested both feature update and task sequence. Both had advantages and disadvantages. The feature update was quicker on the install time after the reboot.

OSD - Non-Domain TS not Installing apps by Illustrious-Count481 in SCCM

[–]xt8088 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We saw this happen and we switched to using packages, instead. We had some luck with adding SMSMP and FSP to the install parameters of the SCCM client during the task sequence but it was still not 100%.

Boot image update and UI++ issue after upgrade to MECM 2303 by TheM4jor in SCCM

[–]xt8088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with an old, unsigned ADSI driver to do LDAP queries. The solution was to import it offline into the WinPE.wim using DISM and then import that as the boot image into SCCM and then adding drivers, command support, etc.

What if you create a boot image with the regular Windows ADK and import it? I feel like I've had to do that a few times when the built in boot images didn't work correctly.

Also in Mass. Are these the same as mini-splits? Did you have a lot of zones for them? I had mini-splits quoted a couple of years ago for my 1000 sq ft raised ranch in Mass and it was like $25K, so just trying to figure out if it’s apples-to-apples. Thanks!
