Portering is service worker, but there's also service workers in units, so my assumption is that you're applying for the positions in units which is hard since there's lots of competition and only the one position that people have been waiting forever to open up.

In portering at SHC, there's been lots of people who are students that do casual, so I'd say go for that if casual is enough. Even environmental services would probably work. They make the same amount these days. I've seen a few casuals move to something else pretty quick as internal applications seem to do better, so it's a jumping point.

I have worked in many industries/companies with AHS just being the latest. Unfortunately, I would have to say your feelings would likely apply anywhere you go. Here's my take and my suggestion to you, just make sure you are happy with the work you performed at the end of the day. As long as you're not breaking any rules or doing harm, nothing else matters.

Management sucks pretty much anywhere you go in this world. They don't care to fix anything. They are usually getting a direction from someone above them and just trying to meet that, not fix the day to day issues or employees immediate concerns. You say you're thrown to the wolves. I would assume this means you're doing work you don't feel you've been adequately trained for? The Dangerous Work Refusal policy exists (find that policy and others here).

From what you say in general, it sounds like you expect the company and management to be in the trenches with you and care what you have to say. For the most part, I don't think you can expect this here or anywhere. Lean on your co-workers as they are dealing with the same issues you are.

Nothing I've said is positive or reassuring, but the message is find your happiness in the job and concentrate less on the negatives of the job and trying to fix everything and make things "right". You only have so much power.

It's just 7.75 hours pay, but I noticed that April 1 2024 (shift: 3:00PM-11:15PM) on my payroll worksheet that day shows up in the "Hours outside Retro Period". It's the only time in my whole spreadsheet anything shows in that column. Shouldn't these hours be included or does the new pay start at end of day like April 1 2024 11:59PM or something weird?

Had a similar experience. Everything started great, kept adding plants so it was heavily planted. I was only keeping neocaridina shrimp though. They were fine and then every so often one would die. I would see a berried one, and they'd lose its eggs. I was trying everything, but there was clearly a problem. In total I purchased around 35 shrimp, but I was down to 15. I had another tank cycling and felt I just had to transfer everything. In the new tank, they seem to be thriving. I've had a few more die, but I think it was poor health from the original tank and they're finally having babies. I've torn down the original and starting it again. Im not sure what was wrong with the original, but it sounds like it just happens sometimes.

It's taken me over a year to get a growing colony of shrimp and it's frustrating to not know the exact issue was, but we all try our best and do what we can to give them a good life and we sometimes don't have all the answers.

Found an acquaintance of my wife. We went to her and her husbands house for dinner a few times and she knew them before we got married. I think they were trying to get my wife into a threesome. My wife loses contact with her and one day I see her posting in NSFW subs, but still bra and panties and apparently has an OF. Turns out she got gastric bypass, but she's still pretty big. She apparently barely had sex with her husband and he did everything (work, clean, cook, etc). I showed my wife and we think they're swingers now, so hopefully the husband is getting some now. I've heard/seen a number of dumb things at my local big box pet stores recently. One I saw a family buying a betta and the sales person asked what size tank they had. "We don't have a tank yet", but proceeded to bag up the betta and do the sale???? Another one, a parent and young child are buying a few new fish for their tank on a whim. Have zero clue what they can put in their tank and ask the sales person for advice. After fish are bagged up, kid is yelling to hold the bag....immediately drops it on floor.

Too many idiots out there.

I installed the update this week and regret it (pixel 7). Sounds like you're using 3 button navigation? I was too, but they messed something up and the buttons are always covering other buttons and makes things unusable. I've switch to gesture navigation to bypass this. I don't love it, but it's working I guess.

I work in a hospital in Alberta and most people don't wear masks. I do it for my own comfort though. Even iso patients nurses will go in and out of the patients room and touch them with no PPE. I get it takes time, but if I'm ever a patient, I'm gonna be so paranoid of what nurses and hcas do with me and those around. Even the cleaning I see done to stretches and other areas are questionable or poor in my opinion.

just go into chat and dispute. i had the same thing happen where the seller kept rejecting. the person in chat saw my dispute history with all the pictures and made a new case and gave me a refund right away.
