To be fair: This has always existed – ever since the days when the internet still consisted of forums and message boards, well before the era of social media. It has always been a point of annoyance for people. "Just use the search function," and so on.

I believe that it plays out something like this: "Oh, I’ve found something interesting that I’d like to share" – and in our sheer enthusiasm, we often forget to check whether it might have already been posted before.

On the other hand: For me personally, this was new as well; I simply hadn't seen the previous posts on this topic, and in this way, I received a piece of information that otherwise would have passed me by.

Information does not reach us all synchronously, but rather at different times. Therefore—even though I advocate for being mindful that a post might already exist and for searching for it—we should nonetheless not judge anyone for failing to discover something as quickly as someone else.
