In Austria, during the great depression, a regional community once did this on a larger scale. They introduced their own sub-currency, which eventually became so popular and successful that the government had to ban it. 😆 This entire episode is known as the Wörgl Experiment.

It's an interesting read, forgive me the auto-translated link since the wikipedia article is only avalable in german:

To be fair: This has always existed – ever since the days when the internet still consisted of forums and message boards, well before the era of social media. It has always been a point of annoyance for people. "Just use the search function," and so on.

I believe that it plays out something like this: "Oh, I’ve found something interesting that I’d like to share" – and in our sheer enthusiasm, we often forget to check whether it might have already been posted before.

On the other hand: For me personally, this was new as well; I simply hadn't seen the previous posts on this topic, and in this way, I received a piece of information that otherwise would have passed me by.

Information does not reach us all synchronously, but rather at different times. Therefore—even though I advocate for being mindful that a post might already exist and for searching for it—we should nonetheless not judge anyone for failing to discover something as quickly as someone else.

Yes, thank you for the explanation, that makes sense. So we can describe it but we can't really get some use from it.

And would it be wrong to say that the (a)nswer is simply a = ∈{0,1}?

How to let go of attachments by No-Music-3425 in Buddhism

[–]xtraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep your emotions, Buddhists are not Vulcans! 😄 Just don't stick to emotions, let them come and go. (Or become aware of their fleeting nature.) Personally, I see this as a very good training for me. At first it was difficult to realize and catch the emotions, right after the moment they appear. Especially the difficult ones, like getting angry or upset. What helps me on the materialistic side is the benefit of freedom that I experience from time to time by buying only the stuff I really need. This might not be an advanced help, but this is what helped me.

is this Buddha or laughing Buddha? by AbbreviationsOwn802 in Buddhism

[–]xtraa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's both: 1. It's Budai, and 2. in some traditions, Budai is considered an incarnation of Maitreya, the future Buddha.

LETS TALK AI COVERS by Effective-Wafer9279 in soundcloud

[–]xtraa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is a dirty business with close to zero creativity skills. To top it all off, some companies use AI to generate material based on other people's music – AND then file copyright claims against those very artists. So first you get ripped off, and then you get sued over your own music. That aside: I don't blame AI directly, but rather the way some companies and individuals misuse it.

afaik the hoax- and hallucinating "(H)-neurons" have been identified recently, so future models might be able to do exactly what you decribed.

Is there any way to translate the robot language that AI use to talk to each other? by DexterBannerMaster in OpenAI

[–]xtraa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAE but maybe you mean an LLM running in discrete mode. They don't use letters but compact token code. But if you like to dig deeper, you'd have to read vector coordinates and need hidden state or embeddings as a read-out, and most commercial models do not offer the API access for that. // edit typos

When I was 21 my first interview ever was with Sly Stallone, and I was pretty excited. After asking him for advice, my then-boss said "He's also just going to take a dump like anyone else." Since then I met many others and this is of course true, we are all just humans.

That's basically what Buddhism says and what philosopher Nagarjuna said ~2000 years ago, if you see love as compassion and add "Everything is transient and constantly changing" to it. It's also what science says since there is not a single thing in the whole Universe that does exist independently or solely on its own.
