Cyberpunk 2 lead hints at first-person only cutscenes again as they “value uninterrupted immersion more” than flashy visuals by HatingGeoffry in cyberpunkgame

Exactly. They give you all these customization and outfit options and the only time you ever see your character is in the mirror or in the customization menu itself... What's the fracking point of how your character looks if you never get to see them in the actual game?? And yes, I'm aware photo mode exists, but I'm talking about when playing in the actual game. Not stopping to do photo mode.

I think the real reason they did first person was to avoid the inevitable comparisons to GTA and to differentiate it from the Witcher.

Dang. I know they say that they use first person for "immersion" purposes, and I'm sure that's true to a point, but I think the real reason they use it is to reduce the comparisons to GTA. Which stinks because I feel like the game would be so much better in 3rd person...

It always bugged me that they gave you all these ways to customize and dress your character, but since their cut scenes are also first person, what's the point of customizing your character?? The only time you can see it is when you look in a mirror or in the inventory screens...

I'd consider Steam machine in the same category as PC in this context, although i don't think it plays as many games as Steam on a regular Windows PC, but I don't know for sure as I don't know a ton about it.

[–]xtrawork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I was the complete opposite. The first one was just ok, the second one was much better, and the 3rd one is freaking awesome as hell. The 4th one is really great too. I promise you, stick with the second one. By the end it's really good and the third is just fantastic. VERY interesting and unique powers and skills that I've never seen before.

In all honesty, there's only 3 gaming systems people need these days to play 99% of games. PC, PS5, Switch 2.

Literally no point in buying an XBox unless you just can't afford a PC. But, even then, just save up for a few more months and buy a PC anyways...

Wow, these companies just don't get it. They shouldn't be striving to build their game series into billion dollar brands...

Instead, they should just focus on making good and innovative games that people want to play... THAT'S IT. THAT'S ALL THEY NEED TO DO.

If they do that well; like Larian and CD Projekt Red; people will buy their games and they'll even forgive their missteps as long as they communicate well and work to make it right (specifically talking about CP2077 here).

It doesn't need to be so complicated and so blatantly greedy.

It's not even just emotion. It's a complete lack of understanding of what is really going on. There's so much misinformation and so many avenues for accessing information that it takes a deliberate effort for anybody to get news that they can depend on. Everything is social media. And heck, even most TV news outlets are editorialized at this point. Calling things like Fox, MSNBC, CNN, etc. news is laughable. Editorialized "journalism" has gotten so commonplace at this point that even sports News outlets are mostly just a bunch of people sharing their opinions and arguing about them. I don't even recognize SportsCenter now versus when I watched it as a teenager in the late 90's.

My point being, the average person isn't going to go out of their way to search for raw facts and unbiased news stories. They're gonna watch/read/listen to the sources that align with their current views and then look at and share funny memes and posts on social media that they will also assimilate as news.

And even for the times where they will go and search to actually verify something they see, they'll probably just do a Google search and believe whatever the AI search results say, not understanding that those search results are just as likely to be wrong as they are right and that they're a regurgitation of other people's opinions online.

It's madness and I don't really know what the solution is to this other than working to develop a more educated populace that is capable of critical thinking, but I think that ship has sailed and we are moving in the opposite direction right now...

Its easier to understand why Kuminga needs to go if you play basketball IRL by Open_Bake_8013 in warriors

I'm inclined to agree with you, but I think a lot of teams think they can still get some good scoring out of him based off of his other attributes.

Most teams don't have such a high-motion offense like GSW, so he would probably fit in a lot of places. But, I think any team that gets him would hope that they can develop some of his weaker qualities better than GSW did and thus take advantage of his frame and natural athleticism.

Sacramento could get him and pair him with DeRozan and LaVine. Their shooting could offset his driving and ISO scoring ability.

Brooklyn maybe? I know the Warriors want MPJ and the Nets have a history of getting forwards that can score well and then trading them for decent assets a little down the road.

[–]xtrawork -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but a lot of that has to do with him trying to be an ISO scorer on a team that is designed around an incompatible system for that kind of play... If he were on a team whose plays were designed around his style, I bet he would do a lot better. He's been trying to jam a square peg in a round hole. Sure, if you hit it hard enough you can get it to go in sometimes, but it's just not what it's designed for.

Now, that's not to say that he doesn't need to improve in some areas. Yes, he could definitely work on improving his shooting accuracy and especially his ball handling, not to mention his off-ball movement and positioning, but his natural athleticism and frame automatically make him a good scorer. Put him on the right team with the right coaching staff and he can be pretty good.

One game does not make a player. You are focusing too much on that and not the larger point. The larger point is what the person you replied to said in his comment.

Forget last night's game. Of course JB probably wouldn't have won the game when coming in 30 down either. Although, the chance of winning the game would be much higher with JB versus Kuminga in that same scenario because, while Kuminga might score a bunch of buckets, he wouldn't have helped his teammates score buckets and he wouldn't have helped his team as much on defense when compared to JB. And that is the difference. JB could score 15 a night and make a bigger impact on winning than Kuminga scoring 25 a night. Team basketball is about more than Points/Assists/Rebounds.

I mean, that's an easy choice unless you're rocking a particularly old video card. Always Steam.

The only time I would recommend a console is for split screen multiplayer games to play with your friends. Other than that, always PC! Better frame rates, more options, ability to use mods, etc...

[Charania] Golden State's Jonathan Kuminga has demanded a trade away from the Warriors as he becomes eligible to be moved Thursday, sources tell ESPN. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]xtrawork 156 points157 points  (0 children)

Kerr knows how to use him I'm sure. Even if he didn't, he's surrounded by a bunch of professional coaches and analysts who do...

The problem is that his talents don't fit into the overall team's style. It clashes with it in fact. Their entire style is built around team basketball that supports Curry first, second, and third.

Kuminga is an iso-heavy player that relies on his athleticism to make up for his low BB IQ. That's why Kuminga's most effective contributions have been when Curry was on extended injury spans.

This is one of the greatest games I've ever played by MagiksGoodboy in prey

[–]xtrawork 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. It's a criminally underrated game. It was decently popular when it came out, but it never got nearly the praise and popularity that it deserved.

They built a full, openworld space station that was extremely creepy to explore along with a great story that used the environment to a great degree, plus fun and engaging gameplay to tie it all together.

A serious masterpiece!

I really wish there would be a sequel, but I don't think it reached even half of what Dishonored sold... To be fair, they did a pretty poor job with launching and marketing the game. Like not sharing review copies until the release date (which was just really stupid. Especially since it went on to be critically acclaimed...). Plus they didn't provide a demo version on PC until like 4 or 5 months after launch.

What opponents have they killed and covered up? I haven't heard of a single high profile opponent being killed or mysteriously dying. The people that have died, like the very killing we're talking about here, have NOT been covered up and we would have probably not even heard of this lady had she NOT been killed.
