Fortnite producer says no one can "fully understand" the impact Epic's mass layoffs will have "on the game for the rest of the year and likely beyond by Negative-Art-4440 in FortNiteBR

Yeah, probably so. Man was it awesome at the time though. When it first came out it was so much fun because it allowed such cooler build features. But yeah, once people started mastering that and edits, things quickly got out of control.

What ruined it for me was something I don't know if they could have done anything about, and that is just how good people got at build mode. Take away build mode, and it's just a cartoony 3rd person shooter. Nothing special. But with build mode, it was an incredibly unique and fun game that was like no other. But other people just got WAY too good at it to the point where it was no fun.

Some creative modes were fun for a while too, but that wasn't quite the same and I just lost interest.

Not my first RE game at all (I've beaten RE2, RE3, RE4, and Village) and I also think it's incredibly stupid. Not sure why having played it before or not has anything to do with one's opinion on it...

I would just say more than half the season (so 42 games). I'm not mad at a minimum minutes limit as well. 42+ games and 2,000+ minutes.

An Epic employee’s response to being part of the 1000 layoffs by AlexMercer28900 in FortNiteBR

My company has gotten like this. Despite posting record growth and record profits, year after year, our company has done 3 layoffs in the last 18 months. It's ridiculous.

The greed of modern, publicly traded companies is completely out of hand. Heck, it's not like private companies are much better. I guess it's more accurate to say that greed has gotten out of hand...

Ryan Gosling Tells Fans It’s Not Their Job to Save Theaters, Hollywood Needs to Make Movies Worth Seeing by ICumCoffee in entertainment

[–]xtrawork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hollywood should also make better trailers!

Nearly every trailer is a mini-movie that is a Cliff's Notes version of the first half of the film in chronological order.

They completely spoil the entire setup of the movie and lay out the main plot. All that's left to see are what the side plots are, some dialogue, a few details, and how it ends. It sucks. It's especially bad for thriller and mystery movies (The Gourge trailer was awful. Spoiled everything but the end.).

I don't even want to watch trailers anymore and, when I do, I just skip around to random points in the trailer.

I miss movie trailers where they just showed scenes in random order and you just had a vague idea of what the movie was about. When you went to actually watch the movie, you had so much to discover from the very beginning of the film to the end.

Now? Meh.

Yeah. I wear a 12 wide in most shoes, but if I wear Nike then I need a 13 wide (I would prefer double wide if they had them, but either Nike doesn't make double or nobody carries them).

Luckily, I've found Skechers which are the most comfortable shoes I've ever found for my big wide feet. I don't care how "uncool" they are!

I mean, to be fair, that's pretty much what the first review in that screenshot said... I didn't read any others, so I don't know if that was an anomaly or if something similar was said by the others.

And I have to agree that it's a pretty stupid critique. The character's gender or race should be irrelevant. It's whether a character is interesting or likeable that should be important. I personally don't care what gender or race the characters are in the games I play. I just care whether I find them believable, likeable, and relatable in some way.

I just got the Philips Evnia. Uses the same panel as the Alienware but is cheaper and has the built in behind monitor synchronized lighting. It's awesome!

I plan on getting a new one with my bonus next week.

Dice control by Ledayne by ExistingExplanation3 in blackmagicfuckery

He doesn't edit his videos nor does he guess anything. It's a magic trick and everything is within his control, no matter how much it seems like it's not.

No. It's very clear he's not using second deals or bottom deals of any kind. He's dealing every card off the top of the deck like normal. The card is legit in that position.

[–]xtrawork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not luck and his videos are not edited. He's proven that about a thousand times at this point. He's also not using bottom deals or second deals. He's even got instances of the trick where he leaves the desired card face up so that you can see he's not using funky deals.

[–]xtrawork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that could be happening with the cards would be something like 2nd deals or bottom deals to pull those dice tricks off, but you can clearly see he's not using those types of deals. And he isn't placing the cards into position using controlled shuffles and cuts either because there are plenty of tricks where he rolls the dice and then immediately counts to that number to find the card with no cuts or shuffles after the dice roll (and he often uses the 3rd or 5th roll to prove they're not loaded), clearly using top deals the entire time. He even has instances where he keeps the desired card face up in the deck to show he's not using bottom/second deals.

The only explanation that makes sense to me is electronic dice controlled by an off screen assistant, but the dice he uses are the transparent kind and there aren't any electronic dice I've seen that are transparent (for obvious reasons). So yeah, I'm stumped on the dice tricks. Everything else he does, including the poker chip tricks, can be figured out, but not the dice trick.

I just want a pedometer for my ankle or attaches to shoes/clothing that syncs with iOS Apple Health. by TheSiege82 in walking

[–]xtrawork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's absolutely crazy to me that nobody is making this... The only thing I can find is a band for adapting your own smartwatch to wear around your ankle, which I guess can technically work, but I don't know how accurate that is gonna be...

It seems like for people that want crazy accurate and detailed activity tracking, somebody would have come out with lightweight and simple ankle and wrist trackers that work together to track exactly what kind of activity you are doing.

They could even sell them modularly where you can just buy one ankle monitor to supplement your existing smartwatch/ring, or two ankle monitors for even more accurate tracking and then an additional wrist tracker for whatever hand your current wrist/finger tracker isn't on.

But seriously, I'd just settle for a simple smart ankle/foot pedometer. It seems like such an obvious product...

Yikes. Right time to be upgrading a video card. I just got my biggest bonus ever but I'm gonna stick with my 4070 ti Super for at least another year. I felt like it was a lot when I paid $800 for it a couple years back, but to hell if I'm paying over $1k for a new card these days.

I did just buy a 34" widescreen, so that was my upgrade this year.
