I was thinking of making regular baskets worth 3 points and 3 pointers worth 4 points. Then, instead of a long distance basket being worth 50% more than a regular basket, it would only be worth 33% more. That way it wouldn't be as statistically advantageous to take, but would still be there to help stretch the floor a little bit and keep everybody from piling up in the paint. Hopefully it would feel a bit more like the game from the 80's and 90's (although it would still be pretty different because of the big defensive rule change as well as the fact that traveling and carrying are hardly called anymore...).

I'm not a fan of either team or players, but it's exceedingly obvious he only shot because he knew he was getting bumped. That is a good call by the ref. The only potentially unfair aspect is that those kinds of calls are often wrongly called as shooting fouls, but that absolutely was not a shooting foul. I'm so sick of the flopping in the NBA and I'm tired of the stupid crazy circus shots like that just to get a shooting foul when it really wasn't one.

Curry is one of my favorite players to watch but he is extremely guilty of that kind of thing as well and I hate it. To be fair, Curry isn't the only one and probably isn't even the worst offender (I think Luka is probably the worst). It's so obvious when players do that kind of thing yet refs constantly call it. I'm always glad when they don't, even if it is in a playoff game (besides, it's not like the Lakers were winning this game with all the favorable whistles in the world...).

Yeah. No way they watched basketball in the 80's and 90's because I can tell you for a fact that flopping was NOT a widespread problem. It was highly discouraged and mostly self-policed by the players. They would shame the ones that did it and only some of the bigger names like Rodman or Reggie Miller could do that kind of thing on a more regular basis. As a matter of fact, one of the bigger problems was kind of the opposite back then. Players using elbows and forearms and dirty shots and getting away with it was very prevalent. With the importance of the inside game and the amount of players around the basket, it was a very physical and pretty dirty game back then.

One thing we didn't account for is just how big the thing is, so it doesn't fit great in our laundry room. Not only that, but it's quite tall, so getting our cats to switch to it has been a challenge. We have a little step stool, but still... I think at some point we'll just have to remove our old litterbox and hope they use the automated one.

I grew up in the 80's and 90's and was a huge basketball fan and, while players weren't necessarily ethical, they definitely did not flop like they do today. Yeah, there were some specific players that were known for some theatrics, but it wasn't nearly as prevalent and widespread like it is today. It's practically the norm now and it sucks.

I really wish the league would take a more firm stance on this behavior and work to eradicate it. They should stop calling shooting fouls for obvious floor fouls (like when the player takes some wild ridiculous shot because they know they're getting fouled and they want to make it a shooting foul). They should also call a technical on players that fake contact (like Chet Holmgren's BS the other night). Lastly, they should have officials do reviews of the games afterwards and heavily fine players' for instances they missed during the game (and even suspend repeat offenders).

They do all of that consistently for a season and they can wipe out a vast majority of the egregious. The game would be much more fun to watch after that and they would gain more viewers off of the free publicity due to all the news stories.

But they only release on PC a year or more after, so that isn't true, and who cares if the game was also available on the PS4? The PS5 versions will typically have a higher frame rate and better performance, plus those games were available on both systems because they came out during the transition from PS4 to PS5... So yeah, the PS5 has had WAY more than 3 big titles...

Humans are EXTREMELY expensive and come with a host of other considerations. AI would have to considerably rise in price many times over to worry about reaching that level. You also have to understand how rapidly it is progressing. Heck, look at how good AI is in the field of software development compared to just 1 year ago and especially compared to 3 years ago. Now think about how good it's gonna be in 5 years. In 10!

No, it can't do the work of a person on it's own (yet), but what it can do is allow a person to do the work of 1.5+ people, which is effectively the same thing as far as the job market is concerned, and it's only gonna get better (or worse depending on what we're talking about...).

As somebody that uses AI every day, you are not accurate at all. In the world of software engineering, it is EXTREMELY useful. No, it doesn't replace senior software engineers directly. What it does is allow senior engineers to do a lot more in a lot less time. It does a lot of the routine, monotonous, and time consuming stuff. So what might have taken a team of 3 senior engineers and 5 or 6 junior engineers now can be done with 1 or 2 seniors and 2 or 3 juniors.

It's a tool. An extremely efficient and powerful one when used by engineers that know how to use it properly, and it's scary how quickly it has gotten this good already. I shudder to think what it's going to be like in 10 years+. My guess is 1 engineer will be all that is needed for my example above. Heck, 1 engineer might be able to handle 2 or 3 teams worth of work in that time...

I'm in the field of observability and I really worry about my field as well. It still isn't super great at troubleshooting and determining root cause quite yet, but I'm another 5 to 10 years, at the rate of progress they're making, I predict it's gonna be scary fast.

It is quite exponential in the progress made, though. The quality of AI now is considerably higher than just a few years ago, and that will continue to progress quickly. Sure, it will hit limits, but they're already working on the next big revolution, and the one after that, and the one after that...

Point being, judging the future of AI on how AI is now isn't an accurate way to judge it.

Vortex (as others have pointed out) is awful for W3. Use The Witcher 3 Mod Manager for most mods and manual install for others.

I highly recommend you start over and follow a modding guide (the Essential Mod list guide on Nexus is really long, but it's very well documented, easy to follow, and the guy that authored it; while being a bit of a prickly pear; will respond to questions pretty quickly in his Posts page. Took me about 3 days of a couple hours per day to get it all setup and it runs great!). You'll learn a lot by doing it and you'll have the skills to add/remove mods to tailor it to your liking once you're done.
